How to do a repair such as change a tap washer when the stop tap will not completely shut the water off.

I have this problem the taps look identical bit when I unscrew it the turning bit won't come out once loosened off?

I have a tap of same type. The tap does not leak. However if I apply a bit more pressure , the spindle turns even further and rotates freely. What do you think needs to be done ?

Hello, if the tap can be constantly spun either way what does that imply? No water comes out, just the tap can be constantly spun.

Hi Jim, Sounds like there is a problem with the threads of the spindle inside your tap, best thing to do is the turn water off and remove the tap headgear, only then will you find out what the problem is, it may be possible to repair or replace this part, this will avoid having to replace the taps, which can prove difficult on older sinks.

Whenever i close the tap it goes back to opening spot like there is no close option to it. The new washer last about 4 days
