    this was actually very helpful and most of these are still used by Ellis trained lifeguards, most lifeguard training is different like red cross ellis and Ymca training .

      Alene Rounds most likely because this is a different program you learned from or it could be due to the fact it was posted in 2012 and technique have changed over time! I do agree not what I have learned but still helpful for refreshing someone's memorie who need to freshen up on skills

    SPinal and your gonna elevate their arms putting pressure of the shoulder muscles into the cervical area...clever what color wheel chair would they like. Your unconscious spinal roll over comprimised the patients airway, again arm up position not good for 4/5th of the population.

    2:16 victim helping with flutter kick???

    • @TimSweet
      @TimSweet  Před 7 lety +1

      BEG MAR why not? Of course in a pool it doesn't really matter because you're a few feet from the edge but in open water if the person in distress was panicked and is now calm, breathing normally, and able to help then why not? They may just instinctually start doing it (like the demonstrator did here).

      yes, I understand it may happen, but I think that if you're teaching or training lifeguards, it's best to prepare them for "rougher" situations; if the victim is able to help, great! but they should be trained for situations in which the victim can't help them. I'm not trying to be rude though, it just called my attention. ;)

      BEG MAR I see your point, in our particular case the passive rescues are more representative of that case. During the course the students were exposed to a wide variety of demonstrators from completely passive to fully resistive/panicked. That was a good catch, it wasn't intentional.

      Oh I see! Sorry, I prejudged the video... it's great that someone takes the time to do this, it's actually really helpful. So is debating! Thank you for clearing my point up...;))

    HA HA HA HA HA rescue tubes in a pool. Learn eggbeater kick for strong propulsion and quicker rescue times. Active rear hug if you saw the incident, if you didn't and its a possible spinal you've just cooked their goose. Duck pluck any deeper than your reach and you've wasted time. Two rescuer situation MAKE the 'guest' take the tube. Deep water go down grab then pull the tube down...geez the american system is getting lazy
