Too many SENCOS focus on the children with ECHPs failing to IDENTIFY children with SEN. Not once did she mention the importance of identifying. Children with SEN are able to mask their difficulties in school and play up at home, but teachers fail to listen to parents and the school refusal difficulties they experience, Instead threaten parent with fines instead of looking for root cause. Consequently, mental health in children are at an all time high, families being torn apart. Her key advice was all about the budget, funding, outcomes on children appropriate with the money spent. Not my kind of SENCO but a good business woman.

You make some good points about the importance of SENCOs and schools working with parents to ensure children have the provision they need.
This video was one of a series that covered various topics so while this one covers tips for developing a strategic influence (as a SENCO) there is one specifically about parental partnerships czcams.com/video/AZC_y0T7ZOA/video.html which covers some of the points you highlighted.
