- TOP 5 Ways To Improve Your Tennis Game ALONE
When it comes to improving your tennis, training is everything. However, it's not always possible to find good practice partners who are willing to spend countless hours on court working on their game.
That doesn't mean the improvements should stop for you though.
Here are the five best ways to improve your tennis game alone.
Method One
Improving your serve alone. It's a no-brainer to practice serves alone on a consistent basis, yet how many players actually do this?
I've been to countless tennis clubs around the world and rarely see people working on their serve, alone. You can work on your precision, your consistency and your power.
Method Two
Footwork and movement training. Footwork is the glue that bonds our entire game together, yet so few players actually work on their footwork. If you don't have a practice set up, it's a great time to then spend improving your tennis-specific movement alone. And why not spend 10-15 minutes working on your footwork regularly?
Method Three
Training against a tennis wall. Tennis is ultimately a game of sending and receiving a tennis ball. With a wall, you practice both of these skills. Plus against a wall, you have half the time you normally would in a normal rally or point.
This forces you to be faster with your feet, prepare earlier, and shorten your backswings, all whilst improving your reaction times.
There are so many drills you can do against a wall, here are some - • Tennis Wall Drills | 2...
Method Four
Training with a tennis ball machine. The major advantage that training with a machine has over using a wall is that you can see where each shot is going. When you hit against a wall, you won't know where that shot is landing on a real court. However, with the ball machine, you can see exactly where each ball is landing and work on your accuracy, your consistency, and your power.
Here are some ball machine drills you can use - • Tennis Ball Machine Dr...
Method Five
Becoming a better athlete. This may mean spending more time in the gym, going for runs in the great outdoors, doing more flexibility work such as stretching or yoga, or working on your fitness doing interval training. Whatever shape you're currently in, you can always get better. Even the best athletes of all time like Djokovic and Nadal are looking for ways to become even better athletes.

I practise my serve early Sunday morning after drop my daughter at swimming club. Brought my bluetooth speaker, put my playlist on (coz nobody around)...it's heaven! And have to say I improve my serve👍
That is awesome!
Keep going 👍
Thank you for guiding us coach!!! This is so motivating
It's my pleasure
Excellent video once again, Simon. I have been practicing less over the last couple of months - I'm inspired again up use the ball machine and practice my serve again 💪.
Would you be able to do a video on how to properly select the right racket, strings, and string tension?
Thanks again. TTT is by far my favorite tennis instruction channel!
Always love your content and guides. Thank you.
Many thanks 🙏
Excellent training as always Simon!
Would you do an up close volley drill? Racquet readiness, footwork, your opinion about changing grip or not on the volley etc.
thanks!!
Great Video!! Love the way you explain Tennis Tactics!!! ❤❤❤
I appreciate that, many thanks 🙏
Thank you so much ❤
My pleasure 🙏
Best video for me! Thanks! I struggle to find players to play or train with and I’m usually 3-4 hours on the court by myself. I’ll use some of these ideas and drills you have for sure and maybe I’ll get a serve like yours too! Thanks Coach. Cu in Crete soon!
Vamos 💪
Keep the courts ready in Crete 😉
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Opa!
Excellent content 👍👍 my movement is not smooth, can you talk about more details about it?
great video!!!! Many of us of course need to practice and very few of us has the budget to hire a coach, so practicing alone is a big benefit to improve your game. I would appreciate it if you can introduce us with more of this type of "practicing alone" videos. thanks a lot.
Many thanks 🙏
Coming from such an experience kind of tennis player, coach and help is just what we crazy tennis fans need to have. Thku!!!!!!!!!🙏🏽👏🙌
My pleasure 🙏
A nice video! Coach Simon, could you please make a video about how to make a back tweener? And also another video about the tweener serve like Nick Kyrgios, please.
These are the essentials we all need.
Thank you!
My pleasure 🙏
Man I almost fainted those serves were so good. I practice my serve alone frequently and I dream of the day I can be that good, if ever.
Keep working, step by step. Rome wasn’t built in a day
I like the tips about practicing your surves. That's what I am working on right now.
Vamos 💪
Muy buen video !!
👍🏾👏🇪🇦
Muchas gracias 🙏
Me encanta este vídeo!
Muchas gracias 🙏
im doing all 5 of this right now :) gotta keep at it though
Vamos 💪
Thank you. Playing at the wall is really very effective. Even if you have to work long it helps because just 30 min is so effectiv as 60 min normal play and 90 min with a weaker player....
Absolutely
Great tips as always! TTT is really the best tennis channel in youtube 😊
However this video came out almost 2 months ago..when are you releasing your next video, Simon, Alex?
Thanks for the support 🙏
We have a new video coming today, Alex will be doing a special challenge match 👍
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Great! can't wait to see it..
very good
Many thanks 🙏
I work on my serve every time and precision, power, disguise ( that's a big one), type of serve and different spots. But yeah very important.
Disguise is a big one for sure
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial yep. And it took time to disguise my serve to Ad side. Messed around with it a lot. What I ended up doing is going to a more side saddle stance and adjusting my toss so it's just about 12 o'clock when going out wide flat to the rightys BH as I get a sharper angle ( more aces and weak returns. I can switch to a T serve quickly and it's harder for returner to pick up which way I'm going. I saw your lesson on the " dirty diaper" technique ala Pete Sampras. I was a bit closed minded till I started practicing it. It helped getting my flat hard serve on Ad side out wide and sharper angle in service box. So I kept your lesson in mind.
Thank you it’s really helpful, but can i ask you about the space around the curte in your video? it’s luck small 😅 ,
Because I thinking to do single curte but I don’t have a alot of space around the curt so I’m not sure
It’s a wall court 👍
Can you please tell me which forehand is better flat or deep and high with topspin.??
You need both, I cover it in this lesson - m.czcams.com/video/e-b7yuRSogo/video.html
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial ok, thanks for your reply.
Doubles strategy please
Anyone else interested in doubles?
hello , i always use training with wall, is there's a chance to devdevelop my skills and be a professional player ?
Thanks for your attention!
There’s always a chance to develop your skills. Regarding the professional game, it’s a very hard sport to succeed in and requires a ridiculous amount of financial resources. But, it’s always possible if you’re training hard and competing often against the best players your age
hello, i have a question, do the " pro tennis " has many grip for the forehand ( Eastern and switch to Semi western when they want give more spin by example ) or they keep one grip ?
No, nobody I know who plays at a high level (pros or high level amateur) change grips. You lose the feel for each grip when constantly changing
Really appreciate this video, Simon! I’m always wanting to improve in tennis, but often times the people around me are either busy or we’ve just completed our weekly session and they’re not free until the following week 😅 so this video definitely applies to me 😂
Good luck with the improvements 💪
I practice my serve as if it was a real tennis match, for example if I fail on my serve twice, then my invisible opponent gets the point (0-15) and so on
That’s a very good way to practice
simon aged like fine wine
Thank you sir, although the body doesn’t feel that way 😂
The wall is the number 1 player in the world!
💯
Is it okay if I play the ball with my hand and then hit it or do some game situations?
Drop feeding yourself can work for sure
Can i starting tennis at age 24 and i participate in pro level atp tourments in the. Futur?
i hope answering my question
No, play tennis for fun and enjoy it. Trying to go pro is almost impossible even if you start at 4, never mind 24
I still think you didn’t cover the BIGGEST thing to practice on your own. Technique.
When you have another person a ross from you you can’t go about completely changing your forehand or serve or it’s gonna go out. You need time on your own to improve your technique, record yourself. I think this is by far the most important practice on your own
You’re right, I never mentioned why using the machine and wall, along with the serve practice is so important: technical changes. It’s almost impossible to change technique in a rally setting but very straightforward in a ball machine setting for example
hi coach i have emailed you and sir alex on your private emails and on team top tennis email but i still havent gotten any reply regarding on person coaching with you
The wall is tiring, have to hit too frequently. A ball macgine is nice but who has those resources?
You can find excuses, or you can get to work. The choice is yours.
where the hell is this tennis court, you re on?
🤫 it’s a secret
Paying $40 for an hour of court time and just hitting serves by yourself? Really? Outdoors, OK.
Where are you paying $40 for an indoor court? Most indoor clubs in the UK for example, have a free court booking system for their members. Some have fees for peak hours or weekends but it’s normally £10 an hour or so even during peak times. Even Queens club is cheaper than that
Wowwww thats niceee Simon. Here in the us during the winter in upstate New York it is like 40/ hour but there’s some places that let you stay a bit longer free if they’re nice.
hi coach simon and alex, i want to take in person coaching from you but i cant seem a way to fidn a way to contact you. i have tried to go on your offical site but i cant seem to contact you from there and i have tried to send emails too. please give me a way to contact you so we can discuss about in person coaching thank you
