minority represent! completely agree that more representation of POCs in the medical field and veterinary field is needed (especially specialist areas...) I am so blessed with a vet school that has a pretty substantial asian community

8:19 Oooh, good topic. I've had a couple bad racist experiences in Australia (pre COVID as well), some worse than others. So I always feel a little nervous going on placements to farms and seeing equine clients because I'm worried about what they'll think about me, that they'll think I'm a weak little Asian girl that has no place in the largies field and only know how to study. Luckily, so far it has just been me being paranoid and I have had not had any racist experiences on placement at clinics or farms.
I have however personally seen some vets and nurses been talked down to for being women and clients downright refusing to speak to any female staff, only to the male vet.
I totally agree with colleagues, lecturers and other students being wonderful though. Luckily in my vet school there's a significant portion of us that are Asian.

I’m currently having a dilemma which one to choose😣 I got accepted into vet school, postponed starting of studies till next year and now I don’t know if I want to get into it afterall after negative things about the industry from other vets 😩 Really don’t know what to do

I'm Algerian (living in England) and although human medicine is a popularly advocated for job by parents and adults, vet medicine isn't really talked about. And people are already fed up of their kids, so pets aren't huge in Algeria, and thus vet medicine isn't popular either, (from my experience) meaning I know no Algerian vet.
In England it's rare to see an Algerian; out of the ~1500 students in my school only a handful are (me included)
So I hope to bring a little more diversity when I join vet school, even though I'm white passing XD
