This is hyper pop, rage has more sustained synths

This is actually masterful layering technique. I’m very new to production as in like a couple weeks in and the most layering I prolly ever did so far was yesterday layering like 6 different synth sounds trynna recreate drakes song summer games cuz I figured that would help me learn layering, synth making(I’m only using a free VST rn but it’s still good for now), mixing, and mastering. As a new producer I obviously don’t claim to be nearly as good as this but I used similar patterns in the synths to create a mix of the individual synths trying to make it into one sound. I used LFO volume an automation pattern, like 4 different synth sounds split into six different patterns due to the fact I used 2 of them twice, reverb (just fruity reverb 2 im still awfully simplistic with my set up and plugins), fruity love filter(although I think they spell it philter cuz they think they are quirky), fruity delay 3, and destructor to master the overall sound (so basically just mastering im not that much of an idiot). Also the song required me to adjust the fine pitch and I also then brought down the overall pitch which ended up blending the frequencies pretty nice luckily. It’s hard to describe but the actual song almost sounds like chords but as a single note so I imagine they used prebuilt and blended chord keys from some plug-in I can’t afford and layered extra chords over that before using volume and slight pitch automation on that but I couldn’t quite perfect the sound which I expected. I did my best to get as close as I could through layering individual notes on top of the chords I had and then also had other layers with offset timing in the notes which helped to get the sound I wanted from the chord keys im imagining they used. Came out sounding good but fairly different from the original. Especially because the site I used that said what chords the song used was slightly off seeing as it said use a C major chord but I could definitely tell there was an octave G paired with it and they just forgot to include one of the chords entirely which I just kinda by ear found but I forget what it was at this point I just remember it was a basic major chord. The song didn’t have any chords that weren’t just basic minor or major chords so that part was fairly easy plus I could instantly hear the octave g so it was all easy to figure out the notes used after I had adjusted the fine pitch. I talk/type too much sorry I have ADHD. I’m making what I hope will come out as an rnb beat now and I’ll probably just use voice notes to record some vocals(I sing but I haven’t put vocals into a track yet since I’m a beginner). I do have a solid recording mic with a pop filter but tbh I don’t feel like setting it up rn so I will probably just re-record the vocals eventually. I also only have autotune access so I can’t actually edit the vocals so I don’t even know if I’ll use the auto tune at all since I’m already able to match pitch so robotic sound probably won’t help and the features of autotune access are very limited so controlling the humanization and amount is kinda shit. I’ll see what it is like with and without. I’m only 17 so hopefully I’ve got time to build my set up, experience, work flow, style, and music theory knowledge before I am forced into adulthood. I take piano lessons in the next year I aspire to grow exponentially seeing as I have only been having them for a year and a half and only been learning theory from my teacher since like November. I know a pretty good amount of theory for being so new at it but still nothing compared to a real musician. I plan to work my ass off at music every day even though I have to worry about senior year this year. I imagine no one will read this but that’s okay because it’s good for me to verbalize my thoughts.

Thanks for your comment, remaking songs is actually a really good way to improve your music production skills. Layering different sounds is also a good technique but dont go too crazy with it, if the melody is good on its own it wont need a lot of layering. Btw I think its called philter because "phil" means love in greek or something
