The landlord gave him notice that they were coming over in writing and on the phone. Landlord has the right to check your apartment and you have holes in the walls and haven't paid you 3 months rent I would be pissed off too

@@VelvetHippos That's what the landlord is supposed to do. File eviction and get the police involved. Handle it on your own could get you deleted. The landlord can withhold any deposits and take the young man to civil court to get back past rents. Just walking into someone's place, even if they are renting is not cool or legal. He didn't even knock.

Going into a home that you have rented out, even if you are the landlord, is SO VERY PROHIBITED in my country!
The tenant has highly protected ‘living rights’ (‘woonrecht’ in Dutch) as soon as they have signed the rental contract!
If the landlord needs to be in the property for a limited number of specified reasons (like repairs or maintenance) the tenant MUST make this possible maximum TWICE a year.
The tenant must be home at the agreed upon date and time or have someone else they trust to be in the home.
The landlord MUST inform the tenant AT LEAST 48 hours prior to the desired appointment IN WRITING and the landlord also MUST actively work with the tenant to pick an appropriate date for the home visit,if the tenant is not able to be available at the by the landlord suggested date.
The tenant IS allowed to change the locks to his home, as long as they keep the original locks and put those back whenever they move out.
We have the right to make sure that nobody, that includes the landlord, has access to the property we’re renting and where we are living in!
Once you have a permanent rental agreement, it’s almost impossible to get a tenant out of the house, even if they don’t exactly follow every single rule the landlord made….
ONLY if the tenant has 3 or more months of non payment…
…OR EVEN MISSES A TINY AMOUNT OF PAID RENT FOR 3 MONTHS OR LONGER (!!) ..
THEN THE TENANT CAN BE EVICTED!
But, of course, this is not right there and then, but rather has to go via the legal system through an eviction case…
(The ‘partly paid rent amount CAN be a tricky thing for the tenant, if they accidentally have not paid enough ATTENTION (most of us pay bills like the rent automatically, so we don’t have to check it out every month and also can’t forget it…
BUT!
I remember when I myself had made a little mistake in the amount that I had filled in when I started my automatic monthly payment for my rent and I only noticed that I had paid €5 too little AFTER this had been going on for 5(!) months….
So TECHNICALLY my landlord would have been legally perfectly in his right if he would have started the eviction process….
But we have no problems and there clearly was no need to do this…
(My uncle had a dispute with the big corporation he rented his apartment from (him and his wife, both senior citizens then).
And he had recalculated his rent amount and found out that he was paying SIXTEEN CENTS (!!!) TOO MUCH EVERY MONTH…!!!
Now my uncle, who I loved dearly and who is missed every day, was a VERY STUBBORN MFKR! And a highly PRINCIPLED one at that!
And yes: his calculations were correct: the 16 cents should NOT have been part of the rent amount!!
But in HIS CASE my Aunt and him were ALMOST THROWN OUT OF THE APARTMENT!
On the grounds of ‘insufficient payments for 3 months or longer’!
I BEGGED him to pay the 16 cents but he kept refusing.
Until he FINALLY accepted my plea to please do it for his wife and THAT’S when the eviction process was stopped (after all: throwing senior citizens out on the street is NOT the best way to promote your home rental business….
(A little piece of information that I myself had ‘whispered into the ears’ of that rental corporation…. 😉)

I live in California. It's the law. You can not deny entry to their property if they give you reasonable notice. 24 hrs is considered reasonable notice here..

The landlord one was right, the tennant was in the wrong there. Damaged property and unpaid rent, his landlord was far softer than the tennant had any right to. Quite a lot of landlords would have had him out by then.
The only time the landlord can enter is in an emergency, it is a civil matter!

Generally, a landlord has the right to inspect an occupied residence if notice is given. The tenant doesn't have to like it, but it is what it is.
The landlord followed the law. He shouldn’t swear at you or get into your face especially during the “pandemic”. But you are wrong for not paying rent and not fixing the damage that you caused. So you are in the wrong more then them. If they follow the law but you don’t HOW ARE THEY IN THE WRONG MORE THAN YOU?
I’ve had crappy landlords that never would give a notice. They’d just let themselves in whenever they thought I wasn’t home. So I started to leave nasty notes and boobytraps around the apartment and when they complained to the cops that they got hurt they had no leg to stand on. I was asleep on the couch after a 14hr shift and he walked in and I dove on him half asleep thinking he was a burglar. He tried to have me arrested and then evicted and both times the courts went in MY favor.

Some tenants are bad tenants and some landlords are bad landlords. I live in an apartment for 27 years and have never missed one months rent. I am a great tenant!! I just wish I would be appreciated more and the landlord realize that tenants like me are hard to find.

You are correct I just confirmed with Google maps that even with usual traffic it should take you only 14 mins so she was either driving too slow, just plain lying or as you said taking a scenic route. The distance is only 5.5 half miles so easilly doable in 15 mins or less.

24 hr. Notice to enter property is all thats required. Renters attitude is so dismissive. Tennant needs to sign for a letter so judge sees he did get the 24 hr. notice. Renters can be ahuge problem! Landlord needs to get a lawyer if lease says non payment of rent constitutes eviction.
I'm a manager and I can assure EVERYONE, if the Manager puts a notice on your door giving 24 hour notice they can enter your apartment with or without you there. Now of course a good Manager is going to TRY an work with you, but if you don't work with them, they can enterl

I cannot stand these type of tenants, but unfortunately, they are in the right. It just sucks that there are entitled people like this that just don’t understand that renting you a house is some peoples income and when you don’t pay rent, it puts them in a really bad spot Cause someone still has to pay the bills.
If your cleaning the whole store by yourself (which I seriously doubt) then you need to fire all of the employees that did not show up for their shift and hire people who will show up for their shift as scheduled. NO other company would tolerate employees not showing up for their assigned shift.

For ANY landlord, or their representative to "COME BACK" must be another legal notification IN WRITING (with a state approved time limit) of intent to ENTER YOUR RENTED/LEASED PROPERTY. And no intrusion is LEGAL unless the time period required is honored.

Who is the Karen? Not the Landlord, I think the tenant who has damaged the property and is late on his rent.
Some states only require a 24 hour notice for an intrusion with legal means of such intrusion. If they said they posted a notice on his door yesterday then it MUST be at least a 24 hour period after the notice was given. And some states require that the notice BE GIVEN PHYSICALLY to the tenant and not just posted since the notice can blow away in the wind and the tenant does not receive the notice personally.
As far as the second to last one, there is a non-resident butting into a situation they have no business being a part of from a real business standpoint. Plus you are in a private office and they asked you to stop recording. YOU ARE IN THE WRONG HERE. That’s is not how you handle things like a real adult. Sometimes the “cammer” makes things worse.
Be careful and fully read ANY lease agreement since most lease agreements are binding unless they break the law by demanding illegal actions.

Then, well, society would devolve into utter chaos. Since, well, we each have wildly varying moral compasses.
The only correct action would've been to call the police and remain there at the car, to keep an eye on the dog. To make sure it's not going to end up in distress. At which point, had it truly gotten into distress and an emergency had arisen, it might've been prudent to take more immediate action.
