According to the scientists it is a bit more than a rash with a few sensitive people. The inci website says:
Butylphenyl Methylpropional: a common fragrance ingredient that has a nice floral scent and also goes by the name Lilial. It is a known fragrance allergen and as of 1st of March 2022, it has been banned in the EU due to animal studies showing a possible link to infertility (in rats - so no need to panic even if you used a product before with Butylphenyl Methylpropional)

    @FCM415 Před 2 lety +55

Lillial got banned. Not Linalool. Linalool ban would essentially ban the use of naturals as everything from bergamot to lavender has linalool. Linalool is limited by percentage and has to be identified in the ingredients list though

Lillial ban is a pretty big deal, it’s a floral blender that’s used a lot. Creeds for example began having weaker reformulation complaints in bug part because of limiting and eventual full ban on Lillial and Lyral. There are replacements these items were key not just fir their smell, but for their lasting power and diffusion.

@@FCM415 i just seen an article on fragrantica, it shows which fragrances were reformulated due to the banned chemical. I’m also surprised because it also said “all Versace fragrances included” I use Eros so I’m interested to see how it plays out

You know what your review of it suggests to me? That it's an ideal fragrance...maybe EVEN (as you said) a signature scent...for an "old" guy (say, around my age, 64) who's interested in something maturely bright but not bubblegum, cheerfully fresh but not juvenile. Youthful in heart. Yes, I do want to discover this one.

Eau Tres Fraiche was also my favorite from the line. Something about it is just so nice, especially this time of year. It's already getting very hot, and Eau Tres Fraiche is really refreshing but the overall lack of sweetness makes it so sophisticated. Eau Givrée is nice too, I agree. I get a really bright citrus from it, and it does have more of a sharpness to it overall. The frosty interplay works well, but into the dry down that disappears for me and it reminds me more of the dry down of the original. For whatever reason when I sniff it off the sprayer the heaviest note I get is the juniper. I agree with you completely! Thanks for sharing your views as always!

I’ve been wearing Terre D’Hermes since it’s release back in 2006.. I simply love the scent, so much so that an x of mine wore it herself she loved it That Much! ♥️ she & I are still good friends & we still chat about the OG terre d’hermes!
I keep re-stocking, probably once a year on the OG, never seems to have had any batch reformulations as some companies tend to do!
Anyway, this year I’ve chosen Eau tres Fraîche AND Hermes H24!
Very mixed views on these two, particularly H24!
    Some people LOVE ❤️ IT!
Some people hate on it 🤷🏼‍♂️
I personally find it a lovely, fresh, modern & grown up scent, great for spring/summer!
As the weather heats up, though, I’m yet to see how this and eau tres fraiche responds..?.. so far so good on this fine, summary day.. but I find myself thinking towards my ADG Profondo as well as my D&G Light Blue Forever.. they [to myself] embody the freshness and energy that comes with the summer vibes!
    What do you guys think?
I may learn that Hermes (H24 + Eau Tres Fraiche), are better suited towards cooler summer evenings and maybe even those random, warm winter mornings!
To me, Hermes - Terre D’Hermes [OG] reminds me of winter & Christmas time so perhaps that’s why I’m leaning more that way with the Hermes scent line… 🤔

Not sure which substance we're talking about here, but lilial was banned starting March 1st 2022. A quick search didn't reveal anything about linalool being banned - that would be huge, though. Linalool is in virtually *every* perfume and fragrance out there. Lilial is supposed to affect fertility, linalool is mainly listed as potentially dangerous because it may cause skin irritations.

How coincidental! I tried this yesterday at Bloomingdales New York. I was told this would not be available until June 10th.
It’s a lemony dominant, easy-going, cool Spring & Summer, if not year round, scent. Nothing ground breaking, but I liked it enough to tell the sales associate to hold a bottle for me. Great price point. Was considering one of MFK’s freshie scents, but at Eau Givre’s price point it was a no brainer.

I have debated about buying Eau Tres Fraiche because I heard it was a much fresher take on the original. I have the original and it is just ok to me. It smells of high quality, but the dirtiness is tough for me. A fresh take seems like it would be great. Considering the fresh version is now banned it might be the time to buy since it will be worth much more soon.

Just saw a document online listing the banned chemicals in the EU after a resolution from early 2022. Linalool is number 84 of a total 256. Looks like not a radical ban, but rather a max percentage of 0.001 % allowed for products that remain on the skin (and a max of 0.01% for rinse-off products e.g. shower gels.) Among those many components I also saw geraniol and coumarin (!??) Coumarin if I'm not mistaken corresponds to tonka bean. And geraniol sounds rather common too. This new state of affairs might change quite a few things at least in the EU. Might explain some odd fragrance discontinuations. Bleu Electrique comes to mind, though not sure if if has any of those three components, but there are so many there in that list, 256! And that's just from the 2022 amendment. The document is actually not new, page shows it has gone through several amendments since back in 2009-2010

Daniel get used to it! Today's fragrances get narrower and narrower of notes possible to use. That's why these today's "parfymes" are actually all like EDT strength only, compared the good old days juices, wich last on your skin like days instead todays watery minutes only!

A much better fragrance in this category is Dior Homme Cologne. Far better than TDH Eau Tres Fraiche. I've never liked the TDH line. I can't get around that bitter orange note in the original & the Fraiche. It doesn't work for me. So maybe I'll like this new one.

I sniffed the Eau Très Fraiche in the shop in Zaporozhye. Too thin for my tastes. As for the basic Terre d'Hermes, it was, in those my very first days at this, way too overt, scared me off. The TdH Eau Intense Vetiver was just right. Not really because I love Vetiver (I didn't particularly pick out anything in it that reminded of, say, L'Occitane Bois de Vetyver), but just because of its middle-of-the-road intensity (ironically enough, though called "Intense"...no, not so intense). Soon before leaving Zaporozhye, however, I took another sniff of the straight TdH and went, "Woooowwww...." It's a must-buy-some-day. So I'm not suffering the ache others are over the Eau Très Fraiche getting dropped, though I'm most empathetic as I know how that hurts when you love a fragrance. But now I really want to discover the Eau Givrée--such an intriguing name, just compels you to find it and find out what "frosty water" could possibly mean...though you already half-know, don't you...you can just feel it, and it feels intoxicating.

According to the scientists it is a bit more than a rash with a few sensitive people. The inci website says:
Butylphenyl Methylpropional: a common fragrance ingredient that has a nice floral scent and also goes by the name Lilial. It is a known fragrance allergen and as of 1st of March 2022, it has been banned in the EU due to animal studies showing a possible link to infertility (in rats - so no need to panic even if you used a product before with Butylphenyl Methylpropional).

The only reason they band them is because a very tiny amount of people develop a rash or allergy to an ingredient. If they were not safe to use then many people would be falling sick!
