Yeah I just started thinking that some of the 77 shows sounded like the neck pick up but I thought it was just Jerry picking way up near the fretboard producing that sound. I see him doing that in videos sometimes. I started experimenting with picking up near the fretboard to hear what is sounded like. Never would have guessed it was the Bean neck pickup.
was this played through the summer-fall-winter JGB shows? Some of the greatest tones I've heard and my favorite shows of all time happened during that era. Specifically talking about 11-23-77.
Thanks for the great video. I have one of these guitars just about to ship (used also) and was hoping to get your thoughts on that 4th switch. Most or all of the pictures of Jerry's TB-500 had the three pickup switches but not the 4th, which is apparently a unity gain buffer? My understanding is the UGB came into play right at the end of Jerry's Travis bean area, so am wondering, do you notice a big difference in whether or not that switch is on or not? Trying to decide if I should have it installed before it leaves the "factory", rather than have to send it back later for an install.
The toggles are as follows (front to back) OBEL, Neck, Middle, Bridge. To me it’s all about functionality, so I wouldn’t be too concerned about matching the esthetic of Garcia’s TB
Could you talk (if there’s something to be said and haven’t already) about Jerry’s work on other projects like his solo work and with David Crosby etc?
Glorified cover band? They have 162 original tunes. And with that, their covers aren’t just lazy rehashes of the music. They take covers, and push them further than any other band. Idk where you got any of this from, but you sound moronic
Sounds killer. Really captures that 76-77 sound perfectly.
Thanks so much.
Thanks for the post. Jerry is playing the tb500 on 8/4/76 at Roosevelt in Jersey city.
They didn't play Dupree enough ..I love that song.

I was there in Boston. Amazing sound. Well done.
I had one back then. In the winter, at gigs in cold bars, I had to lean it up against a radiator for a while to warm it up:)
Yes everybody that I spoke to that owned one complained about the cold neck.
Dude Abides! Love the Pendleton brother and the tasty jams on the Bean 😎🤙🏽⚡️
One of these days we'll get around to talking about The Creedence on the channel. Thanks for Watching!

No he was back to the Wolf by November. There's some great Jim Wise photos of that Waterbury gig on jerrygarcia.com
Jerry’s TB500 only has 3 switches, as does the 5 exact replica’s made by Travis Bean. Yours appears to have grown a fourth.
lol! That fourth is the effects on/off switch. Jerry added that to all of his OBEL equipped guitars as soon as he went back to wolf.
Sounds a bit buzzy in parts, is the action super low?

Yea, absolutely. That’s a great idea for some new content
Dude- I have that sweater
Was the 1975 Great American Music Hall show played with the TB1000?
75 was still the Wolf 👍
@@goodwi11I though so too but he mentions in this video that in a few shows in '75, he used a TB1000. He shows a photo of an early Bean.
@@Jeff-Sahhh forgot about the Golden Gate Park show 9/28/75. That was definitely Bean. The GAMH show was Wolf.
@@goodwi11 Ahh. OK. Thank you for the clarification. Now can you tell me where I can find a Jerrified Bean for less than $10,500? 🤣
@@Jeff-Syep I was wondering the same thing! I know Phred makes a replica for a quick n dirty fix but I doubt it’s even remotely close to this one.
Dude!
I have that tshirt.
The Dead, a glorified cover band in which people over time have fell in love with the idea of the scene. But thats it.
Yea ok
