    Honestly, if the opponent had icejade curse in hand when adding the field spell, coder wouldn’t have won due to the lock being active causing a one sided skill drain.

      Which is always a bad idea. Konami stop making floodgates challenge: Impossible

    • @fungi1385
      @fungi1385 Před 7 měsíci +5

      It is not skill drain. Skill drain negate effects so you can still use them on field and get rid of the monster on field with something like quick effect fusion or droplet and the effect will resolve since the monster isn't on the field when it resolve there fore skill drain can't negate it. With ice jade lock your opp can't even try to activate the effects

    • @astralguardian5930

      @fungi1385 Yeah, Curse+Kosmochlor while field is active is basically game over for the opponent unless they got some Spell/Trap to destroy Curse or the Field Spell.

      The one thing I'm confused about is that the opponent didn't go into Gymir when they had both Aegirines on field. With Tremora in GY, it would've let them bring back Aegirine next turn if any of the Icejades end up getting destroyed
      Yeah, I get that Ran counts as Enion Cradle on the field, but the tradeoff isn't worth it. It helps that Gymir can bring herself back from the GY if a Runick spell is fired off

  • @hyperspacesushi
    @hyperspacesushi Před 7 měsíci +17

    I'VE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR YEARS
    I've never seen a single soul EVER summon Gymir but it's busted to hell and back. Not only that, but the Enion Cradle + Kosmo + Curse combo is just a complicated Skill Drain, and dont even get me started on Ran, she's a 1-card Gymir. Insane
    That being said, Icejade-Kash is absolutely not a deck I thought I'd ever see played-

      Icejade splashed into marincess goes pretty hard tbh. This specific meta is pretty rough for the deck though with people still playing a bunch of kaijus

    • @hyperspacesushi
      @hyperspacesushi Před 7 měsíci +2

      @@Omnipheles The Kaiju part is pretty spot-on, ditto with Icejade being format-locked. If your opponent Kaijus you, there's not much you can do except activate Manifestation (unless it's the first thing your opponent does, in which case R.I.P)
      I've had a lot of luck with Icejade-Ice Barrier, albeit the modern Ice Barrier stuff is OCG-exclusive right now, but Icejade-Marincess looks promising as well!

    I find it fun but its incredibly hard to beat Tier 1 decks if you can’t get the field spell and Curse lock on. I rolled everyone I played in the DC until I got to seeing Mathmech, Kashtira, and Purrely repeatedly.
    The deck can get where it needs to be on like turn 3 but that doesn’t particularly help you when most other decks can play through all your interruption.

  • @lunarshadow5584
    @lunarshadow5584 Před 7 měsíci +14

    I've been enjoying Icejade and do think coder should try it out as it is a great deck if a great mind tries to learn it.
    Omni-Negate, Control, Gy effects, anti-tribute, anti-banishment, mill compatibility, anti-beat stick up to 4000, to name a few
    This archetype has a lot to offer if pros actually tried to discover everything it can do
    (Hell, something no one ever talks about is how the synchro 7 equip +400atk per banished monsters buff stacks, so having 3 might not be a bad thing if you can play defensively)

    • @hyperspacesushi
      @hyperspacesushi Před 7 měsíci +2

      I'd like to ask about the anti-Tribute part, but everything else is spot-on. If anyone tries to Veiler or Imperm Aegirine, you get a free water from hand too. Nobody knows what half the cards do, and Curse + Gymir + Enion Cradle is often times enough to win the game on the spot
      I've heard it being called a mystic mine deck, and while that's not exactly wrong, I still think it's a good rogue deck to play.
      The amount of times Gymir + Chengying + Aegirocrassis/Tremora in GY has won me the duel is insane

    • @lunarshadow5584
      @lunarshadow5584 Před 7 měsíci +2

      @@hyperspacesushi Anti-tribute was the wrong word, there are counter-tribute cards in the archetype. The more well known is manifestation's gy effect to banish your opponents card in retaliation but the continuous trap has the better effect of essentially:
      "if any water monster you control leaves the field in any way but destruction, you can summon an icejade from deck." an underrated effect that is commonly used to get aegirine back on field on the enemy's turn.
      So they could banish or tribute your first one only for another to appear shortly after for her search effect, still allowing you to use the negate effect of the continuous trap.
      And that also works for getting Kosmochlor or even Ran on field before adding Aegirocassis from hand or grave to Ran for her effect of becoming the field spell, turning her into the field spell if you have the continuous spell for the mystic mine esc combo. (as just another option if you already used Aegirine's search that turn)

      @@lunarshadow5584 I get you now! Sorry, I thought with the phrasing, there was an Icejade tech card I missed that stops your opponent from Kaiju'ing you, or something like that. Manifestation comes in handy all the time, though for some reason, I've never been able to get Erosion online. It usually gets taken out before any of the monsters do (Feather Duster really is death for Icejade players-), but it always goes crazy when it does work. Still, I agree with every point you've thrown out! Icejades for the win! 🎉

      @@hyperspacesushi That's why I play 2 of the continuous trap as well as have a few acti in the deck as her or tremora should always be in the gy to make the continuous trap an advantage, even when feather duster or evenly matched is used.

      @hyperspacesushi Před 7 měsíci

      @@lunarshadow5584 Oh, interesting! I only ever run 1 acti 3, 3 Tremora & 1 of the continuous trap, because I always assumed her and Aegirine competed for their normal summon. Icejade based! I'll admit, first wave of icejade support was pretty bad, but the way it's been written off since then is I feel a bit reductive of the state it's in now.
    Underrepresentation in tcg/ocg and terrible net decks until recently have done alot of reputation damage to a deck that isn't anywhere near as bad as people think it is, especially when built properly.

    • @lunarshadow5584
      @lunarshadow5584 Před 7 měsíci +4

      As someone trying out Icejade for the past month, I have to agree. Icejade when made properly can be a force to be reckoned with.
      All the lvl 4's have the same effect as the lvl 5 in the gy, the level 7's being milled would also be a set up for attaching Aegirocassis to Ran so she acts like the field spell effect when they have the continuous on field or in hand. which can be set up if a water monster you control is destroyed. It also has counters to being tributed by your opponent in the continuous trap or in the spell manifestation's gy effect when anything but destruction happens because of your opponent, allowing you to set up even more.
      It has every current meta effect and counters to those effects you would need but the only problem is no one knows how to set everything up. It could be milled with grass is greener, matched with tearlaments to get your lvl 4's and 5 to the gy or you could add the abyss fishes to counter banishments, or marincess to go into the links to get an extra negate. Hell, even when I used a pure icejade deck I was able to outplay a Runick player twice because of the continuous trap's help in using the negate destruction to activate the 4 and 5 gy effects to continuously have bodies on field and cards in deck.
      Even in this video, this guy's mistakes were not searching the continuous trap and not going into any other 7 XYZ since he was locked in from riseheart. Had he gone into something like tax dragon or gone into the kashtira XYZs immediately instead of waiting to synchros, he'd have been in a better position to beat over Coder.

    IceJade IS mid in MD, and I'm saying this as someone who mainly play IceJade.
    The IceJade Barrier decklist is really good tho. Unfortunately supports are not in MD yet

      continuous trap is a negate for anything on board while also activating tremora gy effect to resummon anything in gy, like an aegirine that hasn't used its effect yet.
      It has sh*t, people just don't realize it because they focus on the 3 piece combo

      @@lunarshadow5584even in the realm of pure decks with 25+ card engines, why am I playing this over for example Aroma, which has (and doesn’t even really need to play) 7 one card starters if you consider lonefire and one for one fair game? Ok tbf ig one for one is a 1.5. But you get the idea.

      @@Caleb-zl4wk Play what's fun and I think Icejade is a fun archetype capable of more than most think.
      A major example is the continuous trap that has a powerful secondary effect to counter tributing, banishing or shuffling your water monsters to summon any icejade. And while aegirine may be the best choice, she isn't the only one as you could get kosmochlor as a 3000 def to block even 4000 atk or acti to draw a card by dumping tremora or any of your level 4's to use their gy effects, which would eventually trigger if your opponent can't get acti off the board another way.
      It's a fun and interesting archetype that has more than people are willing to test out.
