How tall are you and how much Do you weigh bro.
Am 6 ft 260
That looks awesome, can't wait to get one! Thanks for the video... really appreciate your reviews!
Videos like this, specifically from you, are what got me into kayaking. I've only gotten a Perception Pescador Pro 100, but I've been looking into getting into something with a pedal drive. I live 15 minutes from Lake Ontario and about 2 hours from the Finger Lakes in NY state. Really dig the channel and I look forward to more videos!
Excellent, straightforward review. This one now just jumped to the top of the list.
looks like a great kayak great review Dan keep them coming!
Another NC guy. Great video. Looking forward to more on this kayak but definitely liking everything I’ve heard so far. Very affordable, very stable and from NC company. This is at top of my list. Great reviews and channel. Keep up the good work!
Can’t wait to get my hands on this yak! Will be my first one for kayak bass fishing tournaments!!
Really excited to see you take out the new lure 10. Been waiting so long
Bro I'm sold been following that 108 since they announced it cant wait to get one
best yak reviews on CZcams. Your really helping me decide what Kayak to get.
Welcome to the North Carolina mountains. You are in my neck of the woods. Hope you have a blast !
Thanks for the great review I'm gonna have to take that out on the water stability looks awsome
Great job 👍 welcome to my home state. Always enjoy your videos 😊
I remember buying my Big Fish 105 based on the video you made. Maybe I'll upgrade to the 108 in the future. Stay safe out there.
I watched another reviewer take one out to the beach on a bad day and take it out through the surf. The waves were about 3-5 feet. He rolled it once, his fault. When he did his part it rode out the surf really well. Good initial review.
That thing is a beast I cant wait to get one
What an amazing place, bro that lake house look like a movie!! The 108 looks impressive! And for that price it will sell super well
Aliex Folgueira it’s like paddling in a snow globe. I’ve never seen anything like it. Had a great visit and got a bunch of videos shot while I was there.
What do you mean by pedaling in a snow globe? I'm looking at this and the Sportsman 120 or 106 PDL.
Thanks Dan because this video I will be buying one
Thanks for the information looking to get one in December to gear up for 2021
Nice. Time to start saving.😁
Wow! You got me with the headstand. Think I will give my Tipwater PDL to my wife. She doesn't fish but likes to excercise on the lake. I like stability, plus the price seems very reasonable. Anyway, thanks for review.
Ron it’s a great buy. We’ve sold a few and have had very happy customers.
Yes been waiting for a review on 108
Living that high life 👍
Great video
Great review! I am new to kayaking but not new to fishing. This combines both worlds together. Win win for my hubby and I! One thing, can it fit a child in that seat in the front and is it still functional? Again, thanks for sharing your review 😊
Big fan of the review vids and they helped me getting into my first pedal drive yak! One thing I would love to see in your reviews is “fishabilty”. Maybe fish for 30 mins and we could get insight as to layout, tracking while fishing, etc.
nice video you should do a review on the new vibe shearwater 125 when it releases seemed pretty cool that a hobie mirage could even fit on it
I tell you Dan you have my head spinning.
I have been binge watching all your videos .I’m ready to step up and get away from the box store kayaks looking around $1000 range.
You really do a great job reviewing.
I am 62 - 6‘1” & 230 Lbs. looking for a fishing kayak that I can use in Lodi lake , Siskiyou lake, San Joaquin River and the Klamath river ?
Lots of options thanks.
If you had to choose this or the 2019 Hobie outback which one would you get?
As usual another top-notch video, thank you for your time and efforts.
Any idea when a larger Johnny boat might be available?
Spring is all they’ll tell me.
Do you already have a video on the old town top water 106 pdl? I would love to hear your comparison to this big fish kayak
Good kayak
Good to go with boonedox landing gear? Are the rear rails solid enough to mount landing gear or is there hull access to install?
Quick question - the 108 or the Dorado _ what would you suggest for a first peddle kayak?
Do you think a sail can be added to this kayak? I'm debating buying this as my first Kayak. But i also seen sails on some kayaks which look fun.
Would you recommend as a gret starter? How would it compare to Perceptions Pilot pro 12?
I notice this kayak & the Dorado are very similar. Does the Dorado seat fit in this boat ? I love the option of raising the seat higher...
Does the Dorado seat sell separately? ?
How is the space for tackle? Spots for rod holders? Cooler if needed? Can it carry a 2nd person like a kid?
I go offshore and looking at a peddle drive which would suit better this 108 or the feel free Dorado?
Pretty sure I’m gonna go with this one. Only concern is at 100lbs that seems a little tough to car top lol. I’ll probably redo a jet ski trailer. Thanks again Dan!
Jason King yea it’s a lot of boat no doubt
Sir,
Please make a more detail review on the new BF paddle drive.
TQ
Does the 108 accommodate someone that is 6’4 well or should I look at something a little longer?
bro got me to subw itht he handstand bs he pulled lol great review man
How big is the well in the back? Can I fit a 16 x 16 kayak crate
What do you think is better for salt water big fish 108 or the dorado 125
Dan if your still in nc you have to try highland brewerys cold mountain winter ale. In asheville
Do you know if they're planning to make a power pole mount 4 this kayak
Around my part of town!
If you have one at your shop now, can you do me a favor by putting the seat in the lower position and move it backward and can it be moved freely without getting jammed toward the about 1/3 along the tracks? I cannot move my seat pass the 3rd notch from the front on my 108! Do you have any suggestion? I did contacted Joe at 3Waters and have not heard from him since the beggining of April 2020.
Thanks,
First
Thanks dan! I’ll definitely demo one down the road.
Great video, but you sound out of breath lol, I have a friend thinking about this yak, he’s a heavier man. I had the big fish 120 once and liked the yak but upgraded to an old town topwater PDL 120 and love it. He doesn’t want to spend $2100 for one so do you still think this is a good option?
is this ok in coastal salt water. not talking way off shore. more marshes, tidal, off beach thanks
The material is quite interesting.
How do you think this stands up against lure 11.5 or 13
Is the pedal seating good for shorter people under 5'6"?
Currently own a big fish 105 and it’s great but not as stable as I want to be but this may be the next boat for me
I'm 6'4" tall and 275#, is this a pedal kayak I should consider??
Can you compare the Big Fish 108 to the Titan 10.5. Is the difference in price worth it?
Does the Johny 100 also have reverse with the pod motor?
Would you recommend a titan 10.5 over this?
Can u go here and test drive these if u live in the area? And who do I get ahold of if we can?
We just got one. First day using it and have to compare it to our 2 Natives. Our Big Fish Drive unit is loud! Ours sounds like a weed eater starting with every thrust. Much louder than the Titan and harder to peddle than a Native Drive yet seems to be loosening up as we use it. The Big Fish tracks well but have noticed that the Eight Ball steering hits the seat on a hard right turn.
Where does the water go? I only see two scupper holes in the back and that is separated from the front. Biggest detriment so far is the noise and there is a lot of wave slapping noise as it has a thinner feel to the plastic.
Ok, rain water is no problem. There must be scupperholes under the removable deck because it has rained here for 48 hours and water does not collect inside.
I believe this boat is a good value at this price and a pedal Kayak is the way to go.
Possible to load that tank on the rooftop on a subaru?
Is this more stable than the Jonny Boat or the same?
Nice kayak! I fish for catfish so I need strong rod holders. Any places for them? Can tell from the video
How shallow of water will it float on?
Okay not to bug you but I have one more question how does it track any chance I can come up and get in one this weekend LOL
When are the staff reviews coming out??
Dude, you didn't show me crap. Does it have rod holders? any wells? places to put my cooler? paddle attachment? anchor attachment? any other mounts? Warranty? It does look sturdy and well balanced though. You need to go over the kayaks in a little more detail of the deck.
In Texas bays (inshore), it can be really shallow and that’s where the fish is. How shallow can the propeller be and the boat itself? Is the drive and seat included in the spec weight?
iggychloe not sure of boat draft. I’d say maybe 3-4” drive can fold into the kayak in shallow water. Otherwise I’d guess it’s a 12” draft or so. Again that’s a guess. Spec weights are everything installed.
Dan, just wondering if the big fish 108 will be on lodi lake for the Demo Day on April 18th. Hope so. Looking forward to trying it out.
James Robertson yes it will and any time before that just give us a call and we’ll get you out. We’ve been demoing it several times a week.
I would love to hear which pieces and parts you felt were on the cheaper side. It would be nice to know before I put my pre-order in for one.
Things like the floor being plastic instead of a foam pad, or the seat attachment is kinda basic. The drive and and steering seem solid and that’s the most important part. At this price I wouldn’t hesitate ordering one and feeling confident on what your getting.
@@HeadwatersKayak thank you so much for taking time to reply to my question! You Rock!
where can i buy it in north carolina i live in raleigh nc
Need to pick one up..
I'm curious to know how it does out on the ocean. I fish saltwater and have been contemplating getting a peddle yak.
AquidneckRider not a good ocean boat. You need longer faster for ocean fishing.
speaking of long term use.. its been 2 years since the video was made... wondering how its held up for you
Thank you for the great honest review. Would you trust the 108 on rough water?
Not the best boat for rough water. You would want something longer that cuts through waves
I suppose a trailer is in order too? Doesnt look like I am lifting that one alone
What's the measurement from bottom to top at its widest? Looking to see what kind of space I need to mount on a trailer if it was laying on its side. Is the prop retractable?
Just watched till end of video to answer second question.
Let's see if we can get good stability on saltwater
Hey Dan can one replace those feel free trax with regular trax? Basically just unscrew out feel free an buy regular topload trax from Amazon an screw in, is my question? Thank you for any info.
No you can't. The base is not the same. You're better off to simple buy the $5 Yak Attack adaptor.
www.yakattack.us/yakattack-feelfree-unitrack-adapter-6-pack-adapter-plate-only-aap-1012-6/
how much does it retail?
Do you have this one in stock
Not sure if it's just the audio. That drive seems really loud compared to other pedel drives. I've noticed this on more than just this video.
It is a bit loud.
3:45 he gives this yak a 6/10. Anyone know what yaks he gives 8 or higher?
500 lbs with me and Dinver on it, and it didn’t have a problem with it at all
I couldn’t believe that. Didn’t even get water on the deck.
Looks like this is my next kayak. Unfortunately there are no dealers in Utah to look at them in person.
Hmmm that’s true. I haven’t found a shop out that way. Know any good ones that should be selling them? Boise Idaho is probably closest to see one.
@@HeadwatersKayak there’s a couple different places here. REI, Cabelas, sportsman’s warehouse.
I am 6 foot 260 do you think this will be stable enough for me.
Or should I go with the Bonafide SS 127
I think it would be stable enough for you and 200lbs of gear. This is even more stable than a Bonafide in my experience. Wait till you see it in person. Your mind will be blown.
"Keepin it old school with an iPhone and an x-grip." hahahaha
joshua geiszler you know how I like it.
Let's not forget the Miller high life in a can
im 6'4, do you think there is enough leg room for someone my size?
Yes it has 2” more to move when I paddle it. I’m 6’2” so you should be solid
Would the 108 be good in small waves and boat chop ?
Jo i take my 108 2 to 3 miles off shore cuts through the chop surprisingly well but not good for surf launches
We’re do I get that phone holder at 😮
Does it paddle like I’d expect a yak of that girth to paddle?
TheEodjuggernaut miserable I’m sure. Not meant to paddle unless you lost your pedals. 10.5 by 38” wide is going to be hard to paddle no matter what the design.
Been looking for a pdl for a while now, initially very impressed with the 108. Will you be carrying that model at headwaters?
Ron Tucci yup. Just got my first one in and will have it on display at the ISE Show next week.
This pedal can share with feelfree lure kayak series?
Scott Lee no specific to 3 waters. You may see it on more models in the futures because it feels really nice in the water and it’s simple.
@@HeadwatersKayak thanks dan~
Pdl 120 vs 108, compare speed?
It's only in the 108 this year so far I think.
Your in my area around 100 miles away I kayak on Lake Murray South Carolina
Ashlee M loved it there. I’ll be back soon.
Is there financing options if someone does not have the funds available at the moment?
??? Guess not?
Depends on your local dealers.
How u think it would be in sf bay. In California?
Randy Sutton not good! Way to fat and slow. You want long and skinny in the bay. Native Slayer Max, Hobie Outback, Vibe Shearwater are all better options.
Great video! Did you paddle any with the drive up? I would like to know if it handles like the 105 and can you lock the rudder in the center to paddle? You have the best reviews! Keep it up.
James H. Jones I only paddled it into deep water. I’d say it’s a little slower. You can lock the rudder in for tracking. Just by twisting the knob on the 8 ball control.
Thank you!
I have been debating on getting the 108 or the 120 big fish. I mainly fish lakes with shallow water and lily pads in MS. Do you think I should stick with the 120 and paddle or do you think the 108 is too big for that kind of fishing? I would definitely get the rudder if I got the 120. Thank you for your time.
