California prisons are heavily segregated as I'm sure you already know, by race & gang cars. But Latinos in the prison system in California are REQUIRED to take orders and ride opposed to blacks & some others who have a choice & don't necessarily have to check in with anyone.
If you're a gang member and fall underneath a car: The Gangster crips car, the Neighborhood crip car, bloods, hub & dub (compton & watts, lynwood), Long beach, mafia crips, east side crips, etc. You take orders from whoever is the shot caller of that car but if you're not involved in gangs or anything you're free to be a lonewolf as a black.
