    We love our EV's because they are the show sponsor.

    I worked with EV speakers before, i worked on a carnival ride fitted with EV speakers with 10 inch drivers, and to be honest they sounded crap, but i think thats because they were only 10 inch drivers, they gave me a headache after half an hour because of the tinny, mostly high pitched noise they were producing
    So what happened was, they originally used 12 inch speakers stood on the platform, then they built some aluminium boxes for the speakers, but only built them big enough to fit 10's in
    They could have done with building the boxes for 15's, i think 10's were the wrong size for that application
    They had 2 twin 15" jbl subwoofer boxes under the platform, but that didnt even drown the screachy noise of the 10's out, it sounded horrible
    My advice, go for the biggest speakers you can afford, even overkill for your application, even if your only doing weddings and corporate, get the 15 inch tops and the 18 inch subs
    You can always turn them down right? You cant turn a 12 or a 10 up past what it will cope with, without distortion
    And if you plan on doing a bigger gig, buy or hire more speakers
    So instead of doing a gig with a pair of 15 tops and 18 subs, do a gig with six 15 tops and six 18 subs

    Great video and I appreciate the explanation. Two things, next time please give price ranges so we can appreciate the difference. Also the EV Evolve 50 were not rated in the range and I’m interested how they compare. Thanks.

    Great video. Question: how many db's (Playing Music, No Pink Noise) the speakes must reach for the aplications you just mention. the spl on the specs on each speaker is something that we as a users will never gonne get. For a 60 people party we might need 90 db's of spl, for a example. Regards

    I had a pair of ELX 15P one of my boxes after playing for at the least 6 hrs. continuously it used to shuts down on me. Of course I was banging Electro & house music and watching my output levels. It might of being a defect, I think I bought a refurbishment pair. So now, I will think twice in investing in another pair of EV's.

    What would you prefer for smaller DJ events without sub (60 people, age 30+)? A 12" EKX or a 10" ETX?

  • @jdthedj2945
    @jdthedj2945 Před 7 lety +1

    I never heard the amount of people the zlx could do with or without a sub. U only said the amount for ekx and etx.

    • @discjockeynews
      @discjockeynews  Před 7 lety

      ZLX is for smaller applications.. I pesonally haven't used them so I can't say for sure as I have personal experience with the EKX and ETX

    Do you prefer EV EKX over the Cerwin-Vega P1500x?

    • @discjockeynews
      @discjockeynews  Před 7 lety +1

      I haven't tried them side by side.. but, I feel the Vega would need their sub more than the EKX tops.. but, the dialed in sound of the Vega is great and it gives you that 'vega bass' :)

      Thanks...I'm not a Dj. I just host a lot of family gatherings at my house, and I'm tired dragging my old heavy speakers from the basement out. I need something that sounds good, light-weight and easy to store in case of in climate weather.

    No ELX???

  • @DayNNyteDJs
    @DayNNyteDJs Před 8 lety

    How do these rate vs the ELX and the ZXA? Are these older models?

    • @benstowe7433
      @benstowe7433 Před 8 lety +1

      +DayNNyteDJs - ZXa and ELX are older than ZLX, EKX and ETX, but everything has it's place. ZXa is a very good, musical box... but the ZXa1 is an 8", whereas the smallest ZLX, ELX and EKX is a 12 and the smallest ETX is a 10". If you want to discuss which might be the best for you, please contact me via NLFX.
