By that time all momentum on the video in terms of views was lost. Definitely needs an overhaul on the system used for strikes.
The trending page is only about my country. Which is why it's utter bullshit. I only ever scroll through my recommendations. It is way better since it is customized to my watching pattern and delivers more relevant and interesting content.

It depends on how it's framed. When it's done in that really patronizing way where they put that stupid graphic on screen and show a mouse clicking on it, I make an active decision not to sub to that channel. If they add a mouse click noise on top of that, I stop watching that channel entirely. But if they aren't an ass about it, I'll consider if I want to sub (if I'm not already.)

The point about "telling vs asking" is Sales technique 101. It's the first thing we're taught in sales roles. When you want someone to do something, don't give them a choice, tell them to do something, tell them to buy your product, then give them your reason why. If you give them an easy way out, most people will take it, just because it's easier, whereas if you tell someone to do something, some people will agree just because it's easier to agree than to disagree.
Usually when people "demand" of me to sub, especially at the beggining of the video when I havent seen 1% of its contents, I just roll my eyes. Idk it just doesnt work on me

I love the How to Cook That channel and Ann Reardon, she is a really underrated you-tuber. Her breakdowns on content farms are super insightful. Also she has some great videos on the fake 5 minute crafts genre of videos. She points out how some of them are down right dangerous. It was very interesting to learn that the "commanding" way of asking/telling people to subscribe to their channels actually has a significant effect. As someone who likes to do the opposite of what people tell me to do, I almost always never subscribe to someone's channel when I'm watching their content for the first time and they "command" me to do so. In my mind, I tell them, *If I like your content and/or think you're entertaining enough, only then I will subscribe.* I liked watching you exactly because you didn't say the typical "Before I go on, click that subscribe button and the bell icon for more notifications." I subscribed to your channel because you and your content are genuinely interesting to me and I would like to be updated with your channel. It was really interesting to realize once again that people can be so different :)

Thanks for this video Charlie I recently made my first CZcams video it's a short one kind of introductory to the channel type, but with this knowledge you have so gracefully bestowed upon us, I can now have a bit more confidence going into my second video. Best of luck to you, I been watching your vids for a good while now.
I do this on my other account that I run my channel on. The timing is what matters. If I ask you to subscribe at the start of the vid ill just be a douche, but if I do it at the end of the video it means the people seeing this enjoyed my content, or else they wouldn't even be there, so adding a sentence of "if you made this far, subscribe! Its easy and if I'm annoying you can always undo it". I doubt its kids on my channel cause I mostly do video essays and mysteries, but telling people that by subbing they will receive more content is very simple.
Telling people what to do actually has the opposite effect on some, it's that "I was going to do the dishes but now that you told me to I don't wanna anymore" effect.
Charlie my man, this has helped me out so much honestly. I recieved a few copyright strikes and stuff due to some guy reporting some of my stuff to raid, but its good that i know how some of the stuff works at least 👀
The second Charlie mentioned clickbait thumbnails I was all, "Oh, he should see that video Ann Reardon made." And then he plugged it! I adore Ann Reardon's work and it gives me the warm fuzzies knowing Charlie watches her as well.
I’ve been doing a lot of these myself for this channel and omg is he right!! I’ve been literally doing half the stuff he talks about in this video and almost every time I post a video I go up around 5 subs (I credit this to the “subscribe” thing I made at the beginning of my video) and I uploaded at the time he said and it also seems to help, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you Crit!! ❤️

Second, he shifts the burden of proof. Since most people will most likely enjoy the content, switching the burden of proof now makes a barrier to unsubscribing.
Essentially, he's disguising the demand you were talking about with an illusion of choice. Notice that Dream still uses the imperative mood when he says "subscribe, it's free, and you can always unsubscribe at any time."

It depends on how it's framed. When it's done in that really patronizing way where they put that stupid graphic on screen and show a mouse clicking on it, I make an active decision not to sub to that channel. If they add a mouse click noise on top of that, I stop watching that channel entirely. But if they aren't an ass about it, I'll consider if I want to sub (if I'm not already.)

The point about "telling vs asking" is Sales technique 101. It's the first thing we're taught in sales roles. When you want someone to do something, don't give them a choice, tell them to do something, tell them to buy your product, then give them your reason why. I love the How to Cook That channel and Ann Reardon, she is a really underrated you-tuber. Her breakdowns on content farms are super insightful. Also she has some great videos on the fake 5 minute crafts genre of videos. She points out how some of them are down right dangerous. It was very interesting to learn that the "commanding" way of asking/telling people to subscribe to their channels actually has a significant effect. As someone who likes to do the opposite of what people tell me to do, I almost always never subscribe to someone's channel when I'm watching their content for the first time and they "command" me to do so. In my mind, I tell them, *If I like your content and/or think you're entertaining enough, only then I will subscribe.*

I get so irritated when everyone begs you to subscribe. I’m really surprised that it actually works.
I think it's mostly kids that sub. Kids are taught to do whatever adults tell them and not to think for themselves.
I do this on my other account that I run my channel on. The timing is what matters. If I ask you to subscribe at the start of the vid ill just be a douche, but if I do it at the end of the video it means the people seeing this enjoyed my content, or else they wouldn't even be there, so adding a sentence of "if you made this far, subscribe! Its easy and if I'm annoying you can always undo it". I doubt its kids on my channel cause I mostly do video essays and mysteries, but telling people that by subbing they will receive more content is very simple.
