    Hey man just FYI. If you find gear and wood out in the woods It's common courtesy to leave the gear and replace the wood when you leave. It's a practice among woods men to leave a ready to go camp for fellow travelers who might find themselves in a tight spot. It's not so common in the lower States but in places like Alaska finding a camp or cabin in the woods with wood, matches, and food might save a life in a bad storm. Many of us keep the practice going no matter what state we're in and encourage others to do the same. In a camp, stack firewood and tinder up for the next person and if it's a cabin or hunting blind leave wood, tinder, matches and if you can spare it some food or coffee. Happy travels!

      You just left the most respectful comment I've seen on here. Everyone else just told him he was an asshole. But down south people do litter all the time so down here we expect it to be just lazy people when stuff is left behind. Good to know though in case I run into something like this.

  • @FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival

    I love my military surplus stuff, especially my ALICE gear. The stuff the worlds militaries throws away is better than most of the fancy stuff in the stores...

    I just want to say how refreshing it is to see someone light their campfire with a bic! Just like the rest of us. I don't know why everyone seems to think that as soon as they have a camera on them, they absolutely MUST light their fire with a ferry rod. Thanks man!!

    What is up with the people bashing this guy for taking a grill? Golden rule is clean up and pack out what you pack in. Don't leave your stuff for other people to deal with. Smh

    A tip on staking out your tent. Put loops of cordage on the webbing to pull out the base and stake down.

    omg!! those woolly aphids are beautiful and fascinating!! I had to google it (see below)
    one thing that really puzzles me is that, best I can tell, no other comments about the woolly aphids?? 🤔🙀 call me crazy but it seems like anyone interested in learning about camping would be doing it coz they love nature?? no?
    hahaha I’m confused
    anyway, THANK YOU for sharing the woolly aphids!! I’ll make notes on the camping info now 😊
    WOOLLY APHIDS:
    Woolly aphids (subfamily: Eriosomatinae) are sucking insects that live on plant fluids and produce a filamentous waxy white covering which resembles cotton or wool. The adults are winged and move to new locations where they lay egg masses. The nymphs often form large cottony masses on twigs, for protection from predators. They occur throughout the Northern Hemisphere.

    hike it in---hike it out. Yes leaving excess wood for others is nice. I would remove garbage. Others may have had a reason to leave that gear, not nice to clutter up the area.

    Hey man, thanks for sharing! Do you have any tips to reduce the condensation in this tent? It's the French F2 by the way the F1 is the canvas one with flysheet. I do love mine but I've sat and watched condensation drip down the sides to the mesh and fortunately leave the tent. I would have thought with the massive mesh panels it wouldn't be so bad but it really is. I still love it though as long as it dosent rain on me through the night! Atb. Jonny

      I haven't run into that issue because I have only used the tent in cold weather. Might be and issue with warmer weather.

    If a grill or any other utility is left at a camp site, leave it for others. I was interested in your video until you said you would take the item home. I like to bring things and leave them for others when camping. It’s always a shame when someone takes away from a community camp site. Hope you change your ways and possibly create a new video about camp site etiquette!

    • @ThePreparedWanderer
      @ThePreparedWanderer  Před 6 lety +6

      No one left this for the next they left they’re trash along with the grill. I have cleaned this site up countless trips. Always junk left behind.

      I said the same exact thing. He's a liar...You can tell how excited he was to see the grill and wood. He didn't say one word about it being left there for months along with trash. He didn't film himself cleaning anything and I doubt he even cleaned his own shit up??? He should have just used the grill and firewood then chopped some more wood and left the grill where it was when he left. It wasn't his to take. So that makes him a thief! I don't like liars or thieves. No sub here.

      Stole my thunder, was surprised with this attitude as its just the norm to replace what you use and stock up for next person. Really disappointed in what it teaches others .

    • @madeinmichigan6773
      @madeinmichigan6773 Před 6 lety +4

      Jeff Mills , Thank you 😊 I
      Absolutely agree with you. I think this world is the way it is today because of ppl like him and his selfish thinking. Who thinks that because they come across anything that it becomes theirs???? It's not like he's in survival mode in the jungle or desert and has no hope for rescue. Obviously the items were in great condition or he wouldn't have been so excited about taking them.
      How about leave his information on a note and if in a couple weeks it had no response or was still unattended then possibly remove it? Idk?? I just would have fixed up what food I needed too them cleaned up the area nicely for another hiker that may have loved the chance to relax, make a fire ( with wood left behind ) use the grill, etc...then he leaves it better and so on...
      I was disgusted and even more angry with the ppl that had the nerve to be angry with me and not him! Wtf???
      Have a wonderful summer 🌝

      I believe your a liar as well as a thief. I don't believe for one second you EVER picked up garbage in your life!!! Karma is not kind to ppl like you so when not nice things come your way and most likely probably do often....it's because of your selfish attitude that if you see something and no one's around....TAKE IT!!! USE UP EVERYTHING TOO WHILE YOUR AT IT AND REPLACE NOTHING FOR THE NEAR HIKER OR OWN ER OF THE PROPERTY. THIS PERIOD MAY HAVE HAD A MEDICAL EMERGENCY OR MAJOR EVEN THAT FORCED HIM TO LEAVE EMPTY HANDED HOPING TO RETURN AND GET IT ANOTHER DAY? BUT BECAUSE OF YOU....HIS THINGS ARE NOW YOURS. WOW! WHAT MORALS WERE YOU TAUGHT GROWING UP . LOL!!!

    Do you use a camera or video on phone? And when you switch from one frame to another, it looks like iMovie setup. I use my iPhone video, then use trim and cut app, then combine together with iMovie. My videos are looking better than when I first started my channel.
