In Dubai we disconnect the traction control and stability control from the engine bay not from the button , because it turns off the traction just by 40%
I have the same patrol in Dubai, I use it for off-roading in deserts. Lower your tyre pressure when stuck. Use sand mode on 4Low, 1500 rpm, steer left and right constantly and be patient. It will crawl out of anything within a min
J Lara I HEAR YA DUDE... I'm not the one who said you need a $30 deflator, and by the way, you'd have a tough time finding pebbles out on the sandy beach access roads that I'm familiar with... BUT, you oughta have a screwdriver in your toolbox if you know about being prepared... ;-)
The V8 in those things sounds bloody awesome. I'm sure since 2016 you've done a bit more driving on the beach, but there's only one rule for sand driving. Start pressures at 15PSI and don't listen to anybody who says otherwise :) 15PSI will come up to 20PSI in 5 minutes (due to heat and air expansion) and 20PSI is probably enough, and if not, go to 10psi. Enjoy
20 Years ago .. I started developing an interest in 4wding .. I was not swayed by brand .. I just researched all 4wd's .. Toyota was always coming out on top .. They always seemed to have an edge over all other 4wds in Australian conditions .. I now own a Toyota 4wd .. I have driven all of Australia's toughest roads .. many times .. and it never lets me down. I have had to tow countless Nissan Patrols out of many bogs, that I would consider quite basic. I am a completely un-biased 4wd-er ... But there is a very real difference between Toyota and Nissan when it comes to 4wding ..
Interior cabin space is it much bigger then that 100 series and the GU patrol? more leg room or is the extra space all at the back for extra cargo? bloody nice looking vehicle though
Not 'maybe' lowering tyre pressures mate.. that's probably the single biggest factor with sand. Beautiful car, but seriously, they have outsmarted themselves with all those modes and electronics... very strange car choice going with the independent suspension all around too. A Y61 with that engine and interior would have been the ultimate winner
there is no any VHL in the world that can be driven on sand with out deflating the tyre. and land cruiser is light weight than Nissan Patrol. i been many times stuck on beach and Desert of Dubai and every time i stuck it was my own Mistake not deflating tyre. engage 4H and activate Sand Mode and Turn of the traction control this Bird will never let you down again. i am Driving Nissan Patrol Y62 year 2015 V8 5.6 as well. nice video :)
Mohammad thank you for your quality information. If I remember correctly you guys have 20 or 22" rims. What pressure do you normally run in sand, 20 or down to 12-15psi (Not speaking about the Desert Edition bead lock rims as we do not get them in Australia)
Most welcome Mr, Neill.. well we have 22 " rims here in UAE and all over the Gulf. about Psi its all depends on the type of sand and weather let me explain ,, During summer weather get hot to 57C'' here and sand becomes very soft and dry like a baby powder we use between 12 to 15 psi and during winter season we use between 18 to 20 psi. but with 12 psi we always avoid to make a short circle turn cas of very low pressure tyre can be easily pop out of Rim. but from 15'' to 20'' Psi its much more safer. hope done answering the Question :)
Thank you so much Mohammad for your detailed reply and with my research it seems that it is very much the same here in Australia that people do with the 18" rims that are on our Y62's. Also I understand not to turn sharp with low 12 psi you explain and is unfortunate we cannot buy 18" Bead lock like your "Desert Edition" has. Very clear answers and very helpful. Thank You :-)
Buy a suzuki sierra and try that theory again. We use 20psi for road pressure, and can fly up the beach on that. I have tried to get stuck, even putting it in 2wd and only started to bog down in crazy soft stuff.
i just wanted to add that turning the steering right and left ( i meane full round on each direction ) and using the 4h with low rpm never go more than 2000 rpm you sure will never need a competitor car to tow you 😉😆 ... wish you a safe and fun beach driving ...
Maybe a y61 patrol (safari) would do an excellent job! My brother has it for around 10 years...and it plays well in sand, even it pulled two cruisers at the same time...
ko _danjy - hey mate, this was shot at Normanville which is a great beach but you can only drive on it if your launching a boat. Try Beachport or Robe. Thanks for watching
Two things were not right i believe 1- going instraight line in soft sand ( always when get stuck steer left n right to find a better grip) 2- air pressure too high
Abdullah Adnan - as for the exhaust. I just cut out the huge enormous gigantic muffler and replaced it with a bit of 3" tube. Still have the resonator though. The rims are 17" Steelies. Rock Crawler +25 offset running Mickey Thomson ATZ P3 315/70/17. Combo works pretty well but adds 5L/100 to the economy
HIiDude , You have made a big mistake when u launched the DL , first thing , u need to keep the engine rpm on one level, no need the raise it up or double it , e.g keep it on 2.5, keep this rpm level for one minute during this time you have to turn the steering wheel to left and right and keep doing this till it gets out of its stuck.
DASH OffRoad thanks man, I’m planning to buy a Nissan Patrol but I work all the time and can only manage off-roading once or twice a month and most of my day to day driving is to work and back so investing in a V8 doesn’t make sense to me.

Watch thisczcams.com/video/_-ItQlYhcFk/video.html. With a soft sand blow starting in 2WD trying to bog it down as much as possible . Put it in 3rd high range 4WD just hit it slightly pedalling it . Would be a massive amount of engine torque I was able to pull it back to like 1500 bring up to 3 gently bring it back to 1500 (rpm)and back up to 3g and just played with it. This was taken in land at the bottom of Stradbroke Island. Cruiser in that footage your listening to have over 300000 km cock up on it. Had 1 alternator fitted to it and a set of injector seals. Was a fleet vehicle 10 years of age at the time of the footage.. but compared to your patrol the cruiser was like driving in a fucking tractor👍
Same thing happened with me last week, I got stuck-in sand my car 5.7 Still nothing is happening With my previous car prado was much much much better , and the option really works perfectly I have to remove air from 4 tires , but 2 cross tires more to flat so I can get out. $ 80 000 patrols still need a $ 30 tyre deflator just like everyone else.
$30??? find yourself the right sized phillips screwdriver, not sure what you call them down yonder, but it will work just fine...

u should actually use sand mode the minute u enter a sand area . and diff lock as well

Once u pressed that throtle too high with steady wheel u r not a sand driver , being driving similar car for yrs , this car is the best for sand.
Why did you keep going to 1st gear in Sand mode? With the disco it uses 2nd automatically. You are overriding the computer when going out of drive.
2:12 if drove slowly and at constant RPM 1.5-2 i think 70% you will get out ^_^
