SS Normandie Promenade Deck Walk-through

  • This video represents a work in progress walk-through of the Promenade Deck and Cafe Grill aboard the SS Normandie. It contains assets and materials that are unfinished and unrefined. Many historical inaccuracies are present as well. My intention is to continue to work towards a photorealistic and historically accurate Normandie to the best of my abilities as I further my knowledge of both Unreal Engine and the ship itself. Of course any corrections and suggestions are very much appreciated. This walk through was created using the models of Paul Lancelot Marquez and Nicolas Sougnez. Some thruways and passages were modeled by me and all textures and materials have been redone to work within Unreal Engine.

Your walk through is incredible, Oscar worthy in fact. Thank you for recreating the greatest passenger liner of all time. Not since August 1939 has a passenger explored the public spaces of the Normandie the way I felt I did this evening.

Beautiful work. Normandie was the greatest of the lost liners, greater than Titanic. At least Titanic had a couple sisters. Normandie was unique.

OH MY GOD! This looks incredible. She was an amazing ship and I've had dreams of rebuilding her if I had the money. Art Deco at its peak and it's so dazzling. Can't wait to see more rooms.

I'd love to explore the greatest and most beautiful Oceanliner of all time and this looks like a very promising start! Actually, it's the first time i see something that vivid and lifelike from the Normandie and even though the models might lack detail in some places, you've made up with your beautiful and careful material editing. I hope i'll see more from you in the future!

I've been mezmeriaed at what you've created here. Normandie has and always will be my favorite of all ocean liners, and I never thought I'd be able to see a video like this and be able to get the perspective of where different rooms were located on her. I've looked at deck plans and pictures for years, but never, never thought I'd see anything like this. Thank you, thank you,. thank you so much!!! Much appreciate your labor of love.

Fantastic Video ! Even in its early stages of development, it’s truly mesmerising!!! Great Job!! I agree with another of the commenters that it’s almost dreamlike! There have been many wonderful ocean liners over the decades, but truly the Normandie was the most beautiful and greatest of them all !! Such a tragic way in which she was lost forever! But your fantastic efforts are making it possible for fans and admirers to walk her decks once more! Bravissimo!👍❤️. MikeW

nicely done to start. you should work on the fact that, when on the stage you could see all the way through the ship and see the sky through the Café Grill doors at the stern (who were indeed in the center. but nice work in progress, can't wait to see the final result in all it's splendour.

It's gorgeous. Or at least I think so. I've found that one of my friends actually can't appreciate such grandeur, and called it obscene. He couldn't rebuke the quality of the work, though.
Seriously, keep up the great work. Don't give up. Ever.

I just stumbled across this and I find this Amazing!
If you’re creating this using the Unreal Engine,
It would be Amazing if there was a repository that was a combination of Google Earth and Wikipedia where people could submit edits to historical walkthroughs such as this.
    Absolutely Subscribed!
Wish I had time to research ships and photos to creat such a vivid travel through a ship!

Wow, that is truely incredible!! There are so many Titanic reconstructions, but I always wished for one of SS Normandie - I found the photographs of her extremely appealing, she might well be the most beautiful ship ever buildt! How grave are the "historical inaccuracies" you'd say? Guess it would take an awful lot of research to reconstruct every detail, right? Anyway: Thank you so much for your effort!!
