For rhetorical analysis she repeats to not list the authors rhetorical strategies, but a lot of teachers teach their students to do this. If so, don’t worry about it and remember to dive deeper into what the writer is trying to do!
The official curriculum has moved away from identifying just rhetorical strategies, but you should write the essay that you can write confidently and well on the exam. Trust your own voice! Good luck on the exam tomorrow!

Update: so I think the multiple choice section was a lot easier than I expected - which is good because thats what I was stressed about. I don't think I did too well on the rhetorical analysis essay since my commentary was quite repetitive. I'll update this with my score in June!! Good job everyone for taking this exam - we all deserve a break now lmao

Yo am I crazy or was the test really easy? My teacher gave us old ap lang test multiple choice with 55 questions that was very hard, I just barely got a 5. On test day (today), the first 2 passages felt like the regular test but a bit easier and the last 3 which are apparently the “writing section” (no clue when this was added) were so easy. Idk if it’s just me but wow I came in expecting hell but the level change compared to the old released multiple choice is massive.

what order do you recommend doing the free response essays in? Should I start on the one im strongest on, or the one im weakest on or?
My teacher said do the weakest one while your brain is fresh (or as fresh as it’ll be after multiple choice) then do your strongest while your brain is autopiloting
the proctor will most likely start with the synthesis essay, and thus why you might hear them say that the “15 minutes” for reading time has started/finished. So, it is usually suggested to follow along (to then writing the rhetorical and finally argumentative essay).
That’s completely up to you. Some people like to do their strongest essay first, while others like to follow the order of the questions. It’s really just a matter of personal preference. The most important thing is that you really watch the time and stick to 40 minutes each essay (excluding the 15-minute reading period).
Should I quote any direct quotes in free responses?? Or should I just restate and place sources/lines in parenthesis?

You can reference the text however you like, but make sure that your quotations are focused and brief. It's your commentary on the evidence that matters more!

Nuance can be achieved in a variety of ways apart from engaging with the "other side" of an argument.

If, on the rhetorical essay portion of the exam, I only managed to write a strong introduction paragraph/thesis and 1 body paragraph addressing only 1 rhetorical strategy, but in a really effective (layered and multiple examples of evidence with commentary), up to how many points could I still possibly get on that essay?

@@gerson0724 on the actual exam I ended up only getting to fully write my synthesis essay and only my intro paragraphs on the other 2 essays and still managed to get 3, which is passing. Doing well on MCQ can rly carry your score a lot.

Rhetoric is just how the writer structures their argument and what words they implement to do so. It’s not that important for the test tomorrow though so just try your hardest and we can all pass!
