I rarely watch American horror movies anymore. Too many of the same tropes over and over again. Plus the constant jumpscares just piss me off.

I finally got my shit together to play Outlast 2 after like 4 years :D I'm nearby the end and I have to say that it wasn't that scary as I expected. Outlast 1 and DLC weren't that scary but kinda short. This was much longer and it made it even better. The adrenaline always stays with you, you never get bored cause you know that something can attack you.
I have to literally pause and watch this game play so Ik when the scary parts come up I keep telling myself it’s only a game it’s only a game forget that I feel like it’s VR 😂😂

i believe he loses the glasses at some point i think those were more reading glasses just helping him to focus his sight not really he is blind without them or atleast this is my only way of seeing it without getting triggered at the devs

I loved it, I always seem to come back to it because the graphics are so nice for a 3 year old game. I’ll be looking forward to playing it in 4K 60 once the Series X comes out. :)

An incredible game, just as good as the first one. I'm still scared to play it on my own, the amount of anxiety I felt just watching this, especially towards the end where were was like 15 minutes of just being chased and hearing all the noises around you without being able to see them. The transitions between reality and imagination were done so amazingly well and it felt like I was on a weird horror trip the entire time.
I was saying just like you i was too scared to play it but i did it anyway the first time its scary but you will get used to it and it won't be anymore

Completely disagreed. This game is a hugely disappointing shitshow in comparison to the first. I cannot believe how much worse it is. Everything is significantly worse than the first game, especially the writing, horror design and level design. If Outlast 1 was a 10/10, the 2nd game is like a 2/10 in comparison. It's like they just forgot how to make an amazingly great horror game and instead just made a generic slapstick copy/paste of every other indie horror game. It genuinely feels like it was made by a completely different (and worse) development team, like Mass Effect: Andromeda. This isn't even close to the same level as the first game. How anyone can say what you said is unfathomable to me.

Thanks for this! Just finished a playthrough this week and used this vid behind the scenes to help get through a couple tricky parts! Also, had a neat bug when you go down the floor grate in the snowy school courtyard where I ended up in a COMPLETELY different hallway and was literally stuck! luckily it saved before and when I reloaded that save, the hallway was correct. super weird, but this vid and that part definitely saved me from giving up on the playthrough.

Great game play, thank you for taking the time for playing so immersive and capturing all that. I was looking if this game is worthy, but not what I was expecting. The game is engaging, music is perfect, but that type of "enemies" already were used a a lot.

Some say the first game was much better which I definitely disagree with: Outlast 2 has much better visuals, it added reasonable mechanics like noise detecting or fighting back in close combat and its dirty and gritty southern state scenario definitely provides one of the most intense horror atmospheres I have ever seen in a video game.👌

When the blood rain started and while walking to the entrance of the building @4:16:11 where the corpses are chained to the wall is scariest part for me. Still gave to me chills to this day Idk
After finishing Alien Isolation, I was inspired to play this. I have finished the first. After thinking of this as being in a haunted house with a very realistic budget it made the game more fun.

At about 10:30, he picks up a letter signed with the name "Lisa", probably the same woman the protagonist in Outlast Whistleblower was writing notes for along the game, presumably his wife.
i just completed the game like 1 minute ago and all i gotta say it was the most perfect and incredible horror game i have ever played got the best story and the amount of fear and anxiety makes it 100x times better sometimes i get stuck in a place cuz im scared to continue. it was very worth the time ❤

Some of the areas were really unclear sometimes, some story elements didn't make sense and the Religion factor was turned up to max compared to 1 where it played a part but wasn't everything and the antagonists just weren't interesting or really engaging. You had a tall lady with a scythe, some disfigured brothers with a crossbow and a shitload of villagers meanwhile Chris, the Twins and Traeger all had personality not just "preach this preach that"

No, you are wrong. This is not a masterpiece. The first game was, this game isn't. When you see the blood flood the hallway that is when you know they prioritized graphics above everything else, like so many other game developers. The best thing about the game is the graphics, and everything else is severely lacking and signifcantly worse than the first game. The writing is nearly god awful, the level design is extremely weak and uninspired, and the horror is reduced to weak generic slapstick copy/pasted tropes and bad jumpscares. Half of the "scares" in this game were literally not even scary at all. At least half of the "scares" in this game didn't make me jump, instead made me laugh or facepalm with how weak, poor and pathetic it was. This is game is very very disappointing to me as a huge die-hard fan of the first game. How can this be a masterpiece when the first game is so much better and this one is so much worse?

This is literally the greatest horror game ever made. Nothing compares to it. The atmosphere, the story, the score, the music, the level design, everything is unmatched by any horror game before it. I've played probably every popular survival horror title (there's not that many) and this one scared me the most.
