I listened to your video via the mobile phone, but while doing some work. When you did the second test, that sound was audibly richer and overall more complex than the first test. That second ligature positively impacted the sound. So I think it was Ishimori. Your review is consistent with other reviews of Ishimori ligatures; they are excellent.
Wow! You sound much better with Bonade and Ishimori is much more expensive!! I guess price doesn't play a role at all on If a ligature's better for a person or not. I currently play non-inverted 24k gold Bonade, I like It.
Nice video! Both sound good, it’s always difficult to characterize sound, especially when we aren’t in the same room. But in general to me the Ishimori sounds a little “weightier” while the Bonade sounds a little lighter, but perhaps there’s a little more resonance in the sound. You sound great on either!
Thank you so much for listening! Yeah maybe my Ishimori is getting a little metal-fatigued from all these years of abuse haha. I just got a Ligaphone ligature in the mail (I had tried it before and couldn't shake it off my mind since) and I absolutely love it. Will make a video soon. I've been trying to find an affordable metal ligature for my students. Always enjoy your video also!
Thank you Tony for your video. I bought 2 Bonade ligatures here in the UK. But have found they don’t fit very well. They tend to slide tend to slide off the mouthpiece. I have not tried the other one. God bless you. Bill. Ut
I have a Bonade gold non-inverted but just now I noticed the left rail doesn't touch the reed as well as the right rail, is It possible to shape a non-inverted Bonade??
@@tpark89 I asked him what ligature should I get for my setup( BD4 + V12 3) and he told me to try several inverted Bonades. I wish I would have asked before getting the non-inverted one, they get really expensive including shipping and customs charges..
@@tpark89 They have QC issues. I had one and got refunded because rails aren't straight and on top scratches the mouthpiece. I wonder If I'd get a fine one how would play..

Very helpful video!!
I always wanted to splurge on the Ishimori!

@@tpark89 Oh cool! I've heard great things about the Ligaphone ligature, I look forward to seeing that review! And thanks!

Good review !
Which mouthpiece is that?
Thank you! I think this was the AB model by Ramón Wodkowski, which is the one I’m still using these days :)
would you say, one ligature feels like the mouthpiece is a little more open? Which one?
I’m not sure what exactly you mean by more open, but I find this Ishimori is more free-blowing than this Bonade.

Yes! And you should ask Dale the true Bonade expert ;)

@@jimis3167 I actually much prefer the non-inverted ones myself. Where do you live? Try Howarth in England next time or Weiner in NY.
@@tpark89 I live in Greece and that's why I mentioned they get expensive with shipping, the one I got is from RDG.
@@jimis3167 RDG is already not the most affordable place to buy from although their quality is probably good. Try Howarth next time!
Do you like silver Bonade more than nickel Bonade?
Hard to say... I don't play either right now haha
There is a very cheap Ishimori knockoff, which might be good, I don't know If as good, but It's even cheaper than Bonade. About 11$.
From my experience... it is not the greatest :(
