  • In this video I'll unbox the brand new Aqara (Xiaomi) Roller Shade Driver RSD-M01. We'll get review and setup for the first time. See how to pair natively with Home Assistant and setup a flow in Node red to work around a little quirk with status reporting.

    Thanks for this, I just got the E1 Aqara blind driver and followed this guide. I found out however that the recent home assistant versions (I'm on 2022.8.5) supports blinds under the entity type "cover". So just for anyone who stumbles on this, you can now open and close blinds with "cover.open_cover"/"cover.close_cover" without needing to go through the MQTT publish/subscribe route as in this video.

      Yes, that is right. The whole purpose of the node-red is to refresh the blind position. With the refresh, you will know if the blinds were open or closed if you were in another room.

    total noob to all of this and really feeling my way around and this tutorial is eye opening to some basics that can be applied elsewhere, appreciate it.

    After my sonoff coordinator update and rejoin network, aqara shade drivers very nice report status. open, close, running... all of it 😃

    I don’t mess with that home assistant crap but I sure did find it interesting. Maybe I should be paying attention to that home assistant crap after all. Anyway, comment for the algorithm and all that.

    Hei, great video tutorial. I did manage to connect my E1 Aqara on Zigbee2mqtt. It is working fine, also updating status of the motor. Still, I cannot see my E1 on devices... So I cannot place it on a card, on dashboard. Is there anything that I have to do?

    Great great video. Thank you. Do you think I can do it the same way with Aquara contact sensor? I mean without the hub? Thank you.

    Do you have any experience trying to do the same but with ZHA? (I must say ZigbeeMQTT looks way more impressive, but not sure what all comes with it if you -like me- not used MQTT yet).

    I've had to reset it since I bought new beads chain and it's shorter. But for the life of me, I can't set the limit. And I can't remember how to do it either. Any help please? Thanks

      maybe late, but to reset position push both arrow buttons together for about 3 seconds (blue light appear). to set limit push 5 times desired button at the position You want

    Can you confirm what Zigbee usb device you are using, I assume either the usb device you have supports 3.0 or the blind adaptor supports backwards compatibility, I'd just like to check before I take the plunge and buy one

    • @HomeSight
      @HomeSight  Před 3 lety

      I’m using a cc2531 with Zigbee2mqtt. I also have a sonoff zigbee bridge, for use with ZHA, but I find a lot more compatible devices with z2m.

    Hi.
    Couple of questions
    1) could you not have used an input binary linked to your flow in the same way as the aqara button and so do away with the empty script? Then the input binary could be a Lovelace button.
    2) could this work with zha rather than zigbee2mqtt?

    • @HomeSight
      @HomeSight  Před 3 lety

      Hi Mike, both good questions… 1 - yeah I guess I could, then I’d just watch for the change state. I use the script thing for some other stuff and if I’m honest I can’t remember why I did that now rather than using a binary input… 2- I can try it with ZHA if you like, I’ve found it not support at many things.

    • @mikeguest6307
      @mikeguest6307 Před 3 lety

      @@HomeSight trying with zha is academic at present. I'm currently running in dual smartthings and Hass mode so all my ZigBee is still in ST. If/when I change that my hope is to go ZHA rather than implement mqtt. (Which in my mind is an older technology it would be nice to be able to live without if possible)
      Do you have any idea of launch date and availability? Amazon have it as unavailable with no ETA?

    • @HomeSight
      @HomeSight  Před 3 lety

      Hi Mike, you don’t need to worry about understanding MQTT, you obviously do need a broker, but it’s pretty seem less these days. Official Launch is tomorrow as I understand it.

    is it possible to have like 3 buttons like: open, 50% open, close

    • @HomeSight
      @HomeSight  Před 2 lety

      Sure, I have that on some other blinds in the house over some bi-fold doors. In fact I have the blinds close at sunset, but they go to 75% open if the doors are open and they close all the way if the doors are closed.

    Is there any chance anyone knows how to get an Ikea Fyrtur Blind working in Node Red like this?? I can't work out how to do it 😪. The ikea blind works with the input node and mqtt out like in Simon's video but that's it. Remotes or time triggers don't do anything. I'm sure there is something to go in the configuration.yaml but as i am completely new to all this all the help and forums may as well be written in cantonese.

    • @jimmywoody6962
      @jimmywoody6962 Před 2 lety

      @Home Sight Merry Christmas Simon, unfortunately not. Im still relying on a remote triggering the MQTT out node. I have seen lots of videos of people with these blinds working in HA so I know they will work like I want. However, no one has posted how they have their's setup. If you do decide to have a go with these blinds then I would greatly appreciate a video on it but I also understand that producing videos takes time and might not be possible. I can't fault the blinds really. They are great for the money and despite what ikea say, you can shorten them. I just followed another CZcams video for that. I can't see them being too happy if something were to go wrong with them and you returned it in 2 pieces lol
      Any who, thanks for you reply. Keep up the good work 👍.

      Hi, sorry! The honest reason is that I finished editing the video late late night to release today… and I haven’t had a chance yet! The closest I’ve got was holding it next to the window and making the blind go up and down!
