here in 2024 listening to this masterpiece. this is probably my favorite song from ascension by far, short and sweet, amazing chorus, awesome solos, sick vocals. 10/10
Man. this is such a strange coincidence. Monday driving to work I pulled up an album on my mp3 by a band called Ascension I discovered a decade ago when looking for bands similar to Dragonforce. Well just like I did back then, I got hooked on the song Somewhere Back in Time.
As I listened, I wondered what ever happened to this obscure Scottish metal band because MAN, they were good.
Well wouldn't you know it. Without even searching for you guys, Meglomaniac pops up out of nowhere as if to answer my question which was uploaded JUST THE OTHER DAY!!!!
Glad you guys are back and I am HYPED that I'm going to have another Ascension album to add to my collection.

It’s tough to explain but your music can literally slow time down for me. It’s like it speeds up my brain’s refresh rate. I listen to you guys while I dodge traffic on my electric skateboard so that I don’t die.

Alright alright, finally got a chance to give it a thorough listen. Can absolutely hear Fraser's influence in the solo, that first part is very similar to some of the shorts he's posted as well as his last album. Your guitar parts always make me think, and I love that. You guys take music in directions that aren't obvious. Love the classical influences on full display. Hate that this song was 4 minutes and not 8! Lol

This sounds like Dragonforce. Song title reminds me of Undertale. One of the band members reminds me of Sabaton

Dragonforce can shred. This song reminds me a little bit of Through the Fires and Flames and a few other songs
@Christian Dauz no beef that I'm aware of, no.... I once dropped that song in Herman Li's twitch but didn't get a reaction. I agree they can have similar sounds. Not sure how that came about, would have to ask the band. Dragonforce obviously hit it big a long time ago.
