  • Join Trinny Woodall as she talks with nutritionist Rosemary Ferguson about all things sugar. From insulin to refined sugar, diabetes, snacking, inflammation, health, the sugar slump, sweeteners, sugar replacements, whether fruit is a friend or enemy, and how to cut down or cut it out completely, all of your questions are answered in this video.
    -
    There are plenty of reasons why we should all consider giving up sugar and Rosemary has condensed them to the following, weight loss, reduced bloating, better dental health and reduced brain fog. Reducing your sugar intake also enables you to sustain your energy levels throughout the day rather than having soaring highs and crashing lows, all of which are as important now as ever.
    You can begin your sugar-free journey with a few simple steps, clearing out your cupboards, getting rid of all sugar/ processed foods. Avoid putting honey, sugar or other sweeteners in your tea or coffee and making easy everyday changes at meal times by increasing your consumption of green vegetables, which will help to reduce those sugar cravings, but fear not, if like us (and Trinny!) you have a chocolate emergency, reaching for 70% dark chocolate will satisfy it without bringing you back to square one.

    I have read High Fructose Corn Syrup is incredibly Worse than the awful Cane sugar. I quit all sugar combined low carb Keto diet w/intermittent fasting after 6 mo. my serum A1c went from 7.3 to 5.1 (that’s an average glucose level of 100) and it has changed my life I no longer have insulin resistance and I have more energy, improved my skin and lost a ton of weight plus I no longer feel depressed. Oh, and I’m 65 yrs old. Thanks for your CZcams videos Trinny.

    Totally in awe of Rosemary's knowledge & communication style! Such a high level of scientific knowledge communicated in a way that everyone can understand, professional but with such warmth & personality! And not an sniff of judgement! I have a background in healthcare (midwifery) & strive for that balance. Really enjoyed this video! Tumeric has been added to the health store shopping list X

    Since I am working from home, I am not tempted by the office donuts, cakes and cookies- and shockingly (not) I lost 5 pounds. I am using this time to prepare lovely and nourishing meals, made with quality ingredients and exercise. Am eating more protein ( eggs, tofu, yogurt, bean & fish) & veggies (lots of garden herb salads with plenty of olive oil, lots of stirfry and steamed green) and springtime berries. Carbs- of course! But smaller servings- and now those smaller servings, with the vegetables, are very filling and satisfying. The belly which I swore I was going stick around for ever has slowly shrunk.

    Its the hidden sugar that's hard. Ex: Why is there sugar in a savory simmering sauce?! Great interview so thank you for posting!

    I used to put 4 tsps/ 1 heaped tbs of sugar in my tea, thankfully none now but it was so so so hard and it took commitment, will power and time...but it worked 🙌. I HATE! sugar in tea now. Yay!

    Watch the Australian Doco That sugar film! Life changing! I read the label on everything, every 4 grams of sugar is roughly 1 teaspoon

    I highly recommend a documentary called “fat fiction” released this year, they were talking closely about American died and the diseases related to it and advised Keto died and it made so much sense scientifically and looking at elder generations they didn’t have so many heath problems as we have today , sugar definitely is the number one killer of our health

    • @jackiehamilton2738
      @jackiehamilton2738 Před 2 lety

      You mean "diet" not "died". Furthermore, keto is not the magic bullet you or it's other proponents claim. Cutting out carbs to that extent is not healthy in the long run.

    My goodness ... have juice with cereal? How does that keep insulin low? The carbohydrate in the cereal converts to glucose which means you are actually getting even more of an insulin spike.

    I went a bit extreme low net card for a while to get rid of sugar craving and it works. Lost my desire for sweets completely. I do eat about more carb now but found a bit of hard core 20 net carbs a day really changed something. A bit hard to do as a vegan but being home and not traveling was a good time to do it. I don’t care for stevia but if you must try a bit of that and monk fruit to bridge the gap.
    Look up the Gucci Westman (CZcams) strawberry hemp milk recipe. Very low sugar, yummy and very filling. Have made that once a week since I found it.

    My downfall is Malteser Bunnies, Kinder chocolate, Lindor and dairy milk. Doesn't also help that my sister works for Cadburys/ Mondalez / Kraft. I tend to binge on sweet things e.g cake, biscuits, chocolate if I am feeling bored or down or if I just fancy it :(

    I must admit that was not a very successful dialogue. I struggled to follow the nutritionist who was beating around the bush in the questions and gave very generalized responses and lingered between medical advice, for which she is not qualified to give, and cliches. Trinny really tried to get this together! Sadly she studied at The College of Naturopathic Medicine i.e. Homeopathic/Complementary medicine which is not a valid treatment under conventional medicine. The only profession qualified to give legal advice is an RD (registered dietitian). Sugar is hidden in carbs and that is the main concern really.

    I love your videos trinny but this episode was rife with misinformation and scientifically inaccurate advice. I looked up this lovely lady and she has no scientific or medical training. Please use a dietician for advice on food, they have to be regulated and study a three year scientific degree. Nutritionist as a label means nothing . Sorry to criticize. I think what you do for women is incredible.
