- After the 4th race on July 9th, Monticello Raceway held a special memorial service in celebration of longtime horseman John "Sep" Gilmour, who passed away on July 4th 2014.
Post parade, Race and post-race ceremony are included.

This guy was a popular name around my kitchen table. He and Billy Parker brought some good purse money into the house. Coming from an owner/trainer family that lived at Monticello in the 80s. I’ll have to dig out the win picture of him covered in mud with his hand on my best corduroy jacket back in the day. I think it was on Rosetime Gal. These old timers made it their own.

They should have had people prepared to speak for this. You don't put people on the spot with 'Who wants to say a few words" unless they are accustomed to public speaking. You get tongue tied or worry you'll leave something out or just go blank. They showed their respect by showing up. Speakers should have been made available early.....or they should have held it AFTER everyone went across to the Chateau for a few drinks!!! lol....that would have loosened them up a bit.

Still parking everyone out up in heaven. I'm glad I was able to do this for everyone who wanted to watch but couldn't due to the simulcasting dispute at the time.
