sam weaver I’ve been in the working industry my whole life. I went from an installer to customer service and now I’m in sales. Yes Roofing is my life. Sales is very easy. Never gonna get rich but you can make a decent living.
Good for you guys 👍🏽 Looks like you actually take your time to train etc and put less stress on your guys. I have an all Mexican crew and yes, they’re fast but I’d love these extra toys to help them out. No hate all props.

How come on all roofing videos when they show a rip off it's always just a one layer rip? Where are the 3 to for layer or the 6 to 7 layer on the flat roofs. Show that , and you get my respect. The 1 layer rips are a walk in the park, compared too.
@@1stknigh I think I saw some of the last of those get torn off nearly 10 years ago. They're few and far between now, but you do see some 2 layers here and there.
This is luxury roofing. We had to tote 80 pound bundles of shingles one at a time Up the ladder and place it on the roof, then go down and get another bundle and repeat until The job was finished. Plus to tear off the old shingles we used a pitch fork and had no machine whatsoever that could just pop everything up nails and all. That is pretty cool tho. And we threw the old roofing and debris off the roof on a tarp and had to lift it or throw it by hand into a dumpster so that sucked too. I wish it would have been like this when I used to roof.lol would have saved a lot of back pain.
Yall so extra. When I work with my father We use pitchforks to tear off the shingles. We do it in a way where it makes no mess and the shingles are easily rolled up and are able to be thrown out.

OK, so just how weatherproof is Deck Armor? (Of course you guys are in and out before you'd notice.) Also, what kind of shears are you cutting them with?
Good point Eric. You'll notice that we put underlayment at the peak so we could stage the shingles. Of course the rest of the underlayment was then brought up under that to properly shed water.
True that. California or weave if it's same pitch. I can shingle without a hook blade! Some people just would have a hissy fit if they didn't be have one just to do a crappy job that will be seen in 30+ years. Or before.
Have you tried a hook blade on an ocsilating tool? its slick. We try pretty hard not to do weaved valleys here in Maine. With the snow load and temp fluctuations they are always the first point of a roof to fail. The cut valleys last alot longer in our neck of the woods.
I was on roofs in TN, thats as brutal as I can take it. Here in South Florida? I'm not getting on a roof! And they make y'all do all kind of craziness too - you're not doing a tear off / reroof in a day.
@@notsure7874 it is brutal down here. Especially when you pair up summer time with torched roofs. We only do commercial roofs so theres no such thing as anything in one day. 60FpsGoodness it depends where you live. In high heat and windy areas clay roofs are best. Not so good for the weight of snow. Shingles also install faster, lighter, they don't break and if they tear there is a something under to protect your roof because of the way shingles overlay.
he asked why houses are made of wood. and we used to use wood shingles as well, shakes. then we moved to more modern types of roofing materials. wood is plentiful here. places that use brick/slate and other types of material probably do so because they don't have a large logging industry.
