- In the first episode of Music That Made Me, BBC Radio 1's Jack Saunders speaks to Yannis and Jimmy from Foals about the songs that have shaped their lives
The band first rose to fame in 2008 with their debut album Antidotes and soon became known for their theatrical live performances, often so pumped up that Yannis would leap off stage. A decade later and Foals area headline act, have sold 1.7 million albums and been streamed 650 million times.
From rock riffs to tender lyrics, they are a band that can do it all. We meet them in their rehearsal studio to discuss their defining relationships with the music that has formed who they are to date. - Hudba
It’s crazy that after all these years, FOALS still feel like an underground secret to me. I want them to blow up but don’t. I know many of you feel the same.
Seems like Foals are the only ones that successfully carried over "indie" into the actual century in a way now one else has. Their music evolved in such a beautiful way. They may be one of few bands that will remain timeless

birch tree is your best song ok
come back and play oxford guys! :) Never had the chance to see you in our home town
Love that you mentioned Pawtucket Yannis. hahaha. Love it (Seen you in Pawtucket before)
man. i respect these guys so much. their thought processes, sensibility, vulnerabilities. a near tear-jerker for me
Foals is underrated af
Honestly a great interview. You could tell he is a big fan and is asking questions that US big fans would ask. Go and watch every other foals interview it’s always the same questions. This guy is at least original.
Had the pleasure of meeting Yannis and jack in LA . They couldn’t have been cooler
You are from Poland?
Can't wait to see them live in june, loved foals from the start, insane inspiration from being a musician
The best band ever! Foals ❤️😍
Lucas Silva agreed
I want that 11 minute stoner version of Inhaler
Hey man. 1 year later, but here's this:

@@hammy2.039 nice man
the 2 Inhaler demo’s on Holy Fire are probably closest to that
@@oliverlewis5976 I thought the $Cheque Sydney Demo was the stoner version
Yannis does have the propensity to jump off of railings and ladders in shows. It adds to theatricality of the shows. Those lads put on a great show. If they come to a city near you, I highly recommend you seeing them live. They are massive LIVE!
My partner and I just saw foals. First gig out of covid lockdowns and it was epic. So so good.
"Are you guys emotional?" Brilliant question, mate. Do you also wonder if they eat, shit and sleep?
Not really getting all the hate for the interviewer? I'm admittedly new to the band, but he seems passionate and appears to have a pretty decent knowledge of the band. Questions may be semi-standard, but is that that much of an issue? I'm down with him.
Totally agree, he's essentially a fan, and he's got the right mix of enthusiasm and professionalism for an interview in my opinion. I've seen way, way worse than this. I enjoyed his questions and overall approach. But we're all different.
don't get it at all either mate, he's pretty good
From a brief read-through of the comments, it seems to stem from two things:
I) Failure to understand that the function of an interviewer for general media is to assume the point of view of the most ignorant audience member.
II) Failure to understand that the band aren't watching them being ignoramuses and wouldn't cheer for them even if they were.
I liked the honesty in the quality of questions and responses and I respect the truth and his is a true accountability to the experience he has.
Real stoked about the proper bangers coming with part II!
This is great. Can feel all the effort going into this episode. Really cool concept & you gotta love your Foals
I enjoyed that thanks, good insight to the band, saw them last night in Blackpool and they blew my mind .... what a band
Yannis is THE MAN
Opened that album with Inhaler??? No mate, its called prelude
This guy asks so many leading questions
oxford boys oufc smhs top tunes .superb live.been a long road for the lads to be appreciated.love and respect xx
"Did you feel the energy from the crowd"? (headlining for Reading) What an insightful question.
Hope the best for u guys. Greetings from Perú
Great! The best 😎✌🏻
Battles are unreal.
I'd like to be touched by a lot more than just his emotions... 😁
33:10 HYPE AF
Foals makes me feel cool
Great band should be more popular
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yannis at 9:43 : *most monotonous voice possible* "It's thrilling." LMAO
Masters. A great, intelligent interview
New album is insane, best to date sounds so full of ideas, last album was good in areas but felt trapped in its own genre, very comfortable it was but new album is fucking nuts, best track is In Degrees.
This is fucking awesome #FOALS
Hi!, where can i found the live videos that appears when they talk about antidotes?
Viva Foals y el Perú
💜💜💜💜💜💜
interesting antidots questions here!
I dont know what the fuck are some commenters are on about, the guy is asking specific questions only a foals fan knows and clearly knows the discography and albums, also did some interesting digging and questions not asked before.
Cya in Minneapolis April 30th!!!!!
RREEEAAALLLLYYY
I swear I never subscribed lmaoo
Jack Saunders is an absolute melon
The interviewer is so bad at his job... He had the chance to ask refreshing and interesting questions and he absolutely blew it. "What's the inspiration behind that song? I like it. How is it live? Thanks." What an uninspiring way to interview someone...
czcams.com/video/8997w4xd7IQ/video.html Pretty sure this is the video they were talking about Spanish Sahara being conceived!
OXES
ph word??? FOALS?!
that intro was absolutely terrible, it's as if he just heard about the band the day before.
sounds like a normal introduction to me
@@lLostGems It was a very simplified explanation of their music and it didn't really mention any of their influences or genres that they cover.
@@TheKennyboy92 well that's what the interview is for
@@lLostGems Not really it's meant to be about the new album and their process making it. The whole point of an intro is to give people an idea of what they're like and what influences they draw from. It was a very generic intro.
@@TheKennyboy92 yeah that's what the rest of the interview does. The intro 'introduces' people that are potentially not familiar with Foals, and builds up to get into detail. He literally ends the introduction with: ''...to discuss their defining relationships with the music that has formed who they are.''
But if you find it ''absolutely terrible'' that's fine too, I really enjoyed the interviewer.
3rd! xD
first!
Jack Saunders is a shockingly bad interviewer, he makes me cringe
what a squeaky clean generic interviewer, he should interview mps in the parliament really
That interviewer might be the worst I have ever seen.
