    If you truly start looking into high-end headphones, $800 is an introductory price. Own a pair of the older H9i’s and compared to the Sony XM4’s, sound quality isn’t even close. Sony’s are very muddy and messy. ANC is better on the Sony, but I’m also not using it everyday. These are not for the average consumer, these are for someone looking for insane build quality, and exceptional sound. Also, I love B&O’s house sound.

      A year back I went to a store to pick out a pair of Anc headphones. Only used Bose and heard about Sony before then, was a complete newbie in audio equipment. So I went around the store and tried every pair, the h9i just stuck out as the winner. There was something different about them, I felt that their clarity is on another level compared to the more artificial sounding Sony’s and Bose. Huge fan of B&o since then, and I didn’t even know they made headphones before that day lol

    From what others are saying these headphone blow the xm4s and bose out of the water in terms of sound quality and build quality, if you like a muddy bass go for the sony, if clarity and a well rounded sound is what your after go with the b&o

    • @alexanderkim4889
      @alexanderkim4889 Před 3 lety +4

      That's actually not a very high bar. There are plenty of wireless headphones that sound WAY better and have better build quality for roughly the same price. The Sennheiser Momentum 3 is a great example, and, from what I hear, it recently got a firmware update that makes the ANC nearly as good as the Bose NC700). If you're into B&O, the Beoplay HX are $500.00 but just look, sound, and feel so good (I owned a pair). If you want something closer in price to the XM4 or Bose NC700, the previous generation, the Beoplay H9 3rd Gen, are now steeply discounted while looking and sounding nearly identical (main difference is in the Bluetooth generation and some features).

    • @Eleventhearlofmars
      @Eleventhearlofmars Před rokem +2

      @@alexanderkim4889 I own the H9 3rd gen and the H95 and my personal opinion is the sound has been tweaked on the drivers of the H95 and sound much better to my ears, I can hear things on some tracks that I never thought existed on the H95 that I cannot on the H9. I’d also add that the apple airpods max are right up there in terms of build quality and sound quality with the H95. I love both H95 and APM and always look forward to listening to my music collection or a good live concert with either of them.

    Btw, the first to introduce the dial for volume (and media control) were the Plantronics BackBeat Pro, to which the Surface Headphones have been inspired :D
    And the dial is very solid too, doesn't wiggle and is not loose like the H95 one, that's a major disappointment :-/

    • @Eleventhearlofmars
      @Eleventhearlofmars Před rokem +2

      I have the H95 and the dials on the earcups are not loose on my set, they have a very nice sweeping glide that feels very high end, much like the controls on the wonderful Apple AirPods Max have that luxury feel. The sound from both these headphones is superb. I love both for different reasons with the APMs having better comfort imo, H95 earcups are slightly too small for total comfort and tend to press on the bottom of my earlobes creating discomfort after long listening periods. Both headphones get condensation buildup and I always clean them with a lint cloth after use to avoid water damage because I’ve heard both companies are a bit dodgy in accepting responsibility for damage through condensation eroding the drivers, I’ve heard some people have had issues with Apple and B&O where they won’t repair or replace headphones that are damaged within a few months through condensation damage on the drivers.

    Great review. Agree about that case, makes for a lovely gift experience but not great for flying. I wonder who the OEM is for these, the volume dial and the way the earpieces attach to the headband look similar to the Surface headphones. They look like a great product but their performance doesn't warrant them being $550usd more than the Surface headphones. These are definitely a luxury product, you pay for how they look, the packaging and the brand name which I am fine with, I like luxury stuff. For the money though you could get comparable performance with another ANC headphone and a pair of really outstanding audiophile headphones. But that misses the point of them.

    Can you review the Master and dynamic mw65? I feel like they would compete with these considering they are expensive as well.

    • @richardw1992
      @richardw1992 Před 3 lety

      The MW65 are phenomenal sounding headphones. Completely different to anything else in M&D's line up in terms of sound quality. I compared them to pretty much all other consumer wireless headphones and they were leaps and bounds above. A very flat, controlled and detailed sound signature, the treble is incredibly resolute yet somehow still silky smooth. The bass is also the best I've heard in a consumer headphone, no boom or bloat that is present in pretty much every other consumer headphones (e.g. Sony WH1000, B&W PX7, Sennheiser Momentum 3, B&O H9). I really really recommend auditioning a set of the MW65s and I'm sure you will be blown away. The only downside is these headphones only sound good on ANC, with ANC disabled the internal amplifier is bypassed and some EQ wizardry is obviously lost. They don't sound bad without ANC, just a bit flat in comparison with a more forward mid range.
      Despite all of the above I ended up buying the Jabra Elite 85H as imo they were the next best sounding headset in the market (very flat frequency response) and half the price of all the competition. I'm waiting for the MW65 to reach a sensible price on eBay before I get a set.

    • @jarjared3522
      @jarjared3522 Před 3 lety +3

      The Beoplay H95 tops the MW65 in every regard for me. I own both, but Bang & Olufsen really did knock it out of the park with the H95. I even have a hard time going back to my old Bowers & Wilkins PX again.

    • @johnhaydock1577
      @johnhaydock1577 Před 2 lety +2

      I own both and it's no competition. The H95's win hands down. They have a more warmish sound signature and their ANC is miles above the MW65, which was not that great. The MW 65's also have smaller earpads, so the H95's are way more comfortable. I don't think you can really compare the two, the H95's are head and shoulders above.

    • @daniegeorge1204
      @daniegeorge1204 Před 3 lety +1

      Its depends on whether you're looking at wired or wireless audio quality...wired quality is basically the same and just depends on the quality of headphones used....wireless however depends on the audio codecs used....iphones use AAC exclusively while a wider range of codecs ( sbc, aac, aptx, aptx hd, ldac..etc) are available for android users. You just have to pick the headphone which support the codecs you need ( all headphones support sbc and aac...)

      Hey I have the Sennheiser Momentum 3s and man I'm not disappointed. These headphones have the best sound quality I've heard so far in headphones. They have an impressive instrument separation and wide sound stage, and the bass is amazing! I would highly recommend to download the app so you could add even more bass if you want. Their battery isn't that great you do have to charge it constantly but I can live with that. The ANC on the Momentum 3s is kind of lacking, but at least it doesn't change the sound quality when turned on which is great for me. Overall I would highly recommend the Momentum 3s if you're top priority to a pair of headphones is sound quality. Hope that helped.

I give a lot of that to their accompanying app... the anc is best out of any ive tried.. the transparency mode works great and as good as they sound... they get very loud... and while they get loud everything just sounds better... no distortion and no sittin there like I did with the sennheiser goin... damn... I wish I had at least 4 or 5 more clicks of volume.... I don't know much bout all the bs that goes into these headphones but again ive had 400 dollar pairs and 350 and 300 dollar pairs and my q30 beat those in every way.... only thing I'd say was better was the build quality of the sennheiser but when I purchase headphones or audio the last thing im worried about is how they look.... if they sound killer and fit good im happy... so thats kinda why I said the comment I said... and not sure your experience with headphones but I think a lot of people would be blown away by the q30 and realize what I now realize... lot of this is overpriced and overhyped bs!!! The thing is, at that level or higher, it's not just about the headphones. To get your money's worth out of expensive, audiophile grade headphones, the entire chain has to be high quality. If you're looking at value, the Sonys are the best choice. If you have the money and you find the premium nature of the H95s appealing, then I can see why they're a draw, they do look really good, although a few things about them bother me, such as the dial perhaps not feeling as premium as it could've done.
    It's like comparing a Mercedes with a Rolls Royce... they might be comparable in some areas, but ultimately, they both have extremely different design approaches and target audiences. Whichever audience you fall into, the other side won't make sense. I had a demo of the H95 in store, and they were incredible... but, in all honesty, if I had $800 to spend (which I don't) , I'd much sooner buy two pairs of XM4 and take my girlfriend out for a meal so I could get her drunk and tickle her ribs back home at midnight... sorry B&O!!! 😁 😂

    $800 for headphones that weight that much is ridiculous. I don’t know about anyone else but I like to wear my headphones while out walking or riding my scooter and this is just too intrusive. Second if I’m buying OTE then I want OTE in adult size. I use to love B&O headphones now they seem like any other overpriced headphones. You didn’t touch on whether you had to download their app like you need to do with some of the other headphones? I won’t purchase any headphones that an app is required because it just silly to Clutter up my phone if I don’t plan on using it with my phone. These seem a no-go for me. One more thing, that case is ridiculously large, it should be a soft case to carry in a backpack.

      I always use 1.75x or 2.00x if I can understand what they are saying. I get so bored waiting for them to draw breath and get to the point.

      Lmao I had to Speed him up too. He speaks slower than David Blaine (David Blaine’s Excuse is that he had Brain Damage from Oxygen Deprivation).
      Idk if OP has some condition or is stoned or is just slow af

    Smallest earcups I’ve ever worn, both diameter and depth. Elite bass, average mids and highs, but Impossibly small, returned in 5 mins.

    Sad to think that most guys under 30 listen to rap and hiphop. So it doesn't matter what you buy it's still shitty music!

    Listening to this on my KZ ZS10 Pro in ear monitors.
    I use my B&Os for Bluetooth and noise cancellation convenience. For sound give me the Chinese in ears for 50 bucks. KZ all the way.
