  • The importance of Native Plants for our ecosystems can never be overstated. Yet, there seems to be a tendency to think of the usual native plants when landscaping your garden: Black-eyed Susans (Rudbeckia) and Purple Coneflowers (Echinacea). In this show Misty Kuceris, Horticulturalist, introduces you to some of the lesser incorporated native plants: Iris Versicolor [zones 2-7], Blue-Eyed Grass (Sisyrinchium angustrifolium) [zones 4-9], Gayfeather also known as Blazing Star (Liatris spicata) [zones 3-9], Northern Sea Oats (Chasmanthium latifolium) [zones5-8], Indian Pink (Spigelia marilandica) [zones 5-9], Jacob's Ladder (Polemonium reptans) [zones 3-7], Christmas Fern (Polystichum acrostichoides) [zones 3-9], and Cinnamon Fern (Osmundastrum cinnamomeum) [zones 3-8]. (For those of you new to these plants, I hope that by listing the USDA Plant Hardiness Zones in this description help you determine which of these plants will do well in your location. Misty)
