    I know I am not perfect. I know I don't trust God or follow Him the way I am supposed to. I also know I am broken and I need Jesus Christ. I am grateful He died for me and took my place on the cross. I know its nothing I have done to deserve it, but He did everything for me because He loves me. I pray that people believe in Jesus Christ and what He did for us all. I pray my wife and children come to know Jesus and I will always tell them the truth about Him. I hate my sin, I need His help to turn away from it. He has delivered me, and I know it will be a struggle of good and evil inside me until the day I die. I just pray He gives me the strength to carry on and endure, and I will never stop loving Him. Thank you Jesus. Thank you Yahweh. Thank you Holy Spirit.

      Baptism isn't necessary for salvation, it is a representation of the internal change Christ has made in you. It is good to be baptized, but it doesn't play into your salvation. None of the Catholic requirements can affect your salvation one way or another, it is entirely Christ's substitutionary sacrifice that saves us. Our works (fruits) prove our salvation and testify of it, but our works and righteousness are filthy rags, we can never earn our salvation even partially.

    Andrew says “it’s not what you do, it’s who you are,” and believes the requirement is “agape love,” “the image of God.” This is true. For, Jesus said that to love is to obey the whole law, and the standard is the requirement of the law.
    However, nobody meets that standard. Nobody. Romans 1-2. So Jesus did it for us, for those who believe, they receive the forgiveness of sins and therefore meet the requirement (Roman’s 3 and 8:1-4). So you must believe in Jesus.

    It’s not that God “abandons” people Mr Klavan! It’s that we all already abandoned God and He rescues us. If Shapiro or Petersen “do great work where they are” God is not somehow obligated to them to “not abandon them” as if this were like the US withdrawing from Afghanistan and leaving behind translators or something. Salvation is not by works. We don’t earn it “by doing good things where God places us”. It is by faith alone through Christ alone. No one comes to the Father but by Christ. Sir it makes me afraid that you don’t understand the gospel and I sincerely hope you will give a concerted re-read of Romans and the gospel of John. I get where you are coming from - that all the book knowledge and theology in the world is worthless without the INNER transformation of the heart that places the love of Christ in our hearts and transforms us from the inside out but some of your language sounds a lot like someone like Ben can actively deny the Son of God to whom all authority and power has been given and yet can still enter the Kingdom because he did good works.

      I have not heard one single argument from Rome that adequately explains the view of salvation set forth by Paul in each of these verses, especially considering that Pope Clement the first in his only surviving letter analyzes Romans and says “Similarly, we also, who by His will have been called in Christ Jesus, are not justified by ourselves, or our own wisdom or understanding or godliness, nor by such deeds as we have done in holiness of heart, but by that faith through which Almighty God has justified all men since the beginning of time. One of the things I admire about you and your faith is that you are an honest follower of Christ. You read his word, you learn, you are ready always to be corrected by the truth of scripture, you recognize the difference between what is necessary to be safe in Christ and those things that deepen our understanding but are not required to be understood for righteousness in Christ. The most important thing you say, and I’ve heard you say it before, is that you trust Him, and this is everything! You trust that he is good, faithful, kinder, wiser, more merciful, and able above all, to bring His children safely home to heaven in His way and His time. Thank you for all you do! I’m running the race with you, dear brother!

      Yeah, it’s kind of funny to watch them dance around that one. Also, after the birth of Christ, there was no reason why Mary would need to retain her virginity since she already served as the pure vessel for Jesus. Not to mention the fact that Joseph and Mary’s marriage would need to be deemed a failure since they didn’t consummate it.

    • @shmeebs387
      @shmeebs387 Před 5 měsíci

      No she didn't. The word translated to "brother" (adelphos) doesn't specifically mean a biological sibling. It can be any relative or even a spiritual brother. "Brothers" was also used to describe Abraham and Lot who are uncle and nephew. English just doesn't have a good word to translate to. And Jesus's "brothers" are never said to be Mary's children.
      There is also the fact that Jesus tells John to take care of Mary after Jesus's death. If Jesus had siblings, that duty would have fallen to them, not one of the Apostles.
      And Catholics don't worship Mary. We literally ask her to pray for us, meaning she isn't the one granting our prayers. She also prays to God.

    • @Lee-de2wl
      @Lee-de2wl Před 5 měsíci

      @@shmeebs387 well here’s a radical idea, you pray to God. You don’t need to go through Mary, the Bible doesn’t tell us to go through Mary.
      I know that Catholics need to beatify humans but at the end of the day we are just that, humans, including Mary.
      In matinee Jesus answered his followers as follows when they came to him to tell Him that his mother and brothers wanted to see Him, “who is my mother, and who are my brothers, whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother”. Sounds to me like he did have siblings, but I know the indoctrination that the Catholic church has put on you so all I’ll ask you to do is ask God honestly to show you what you need to know. But please don’t pray through Mary, Jesus told His disciples “ … you will no longer ask me anything. Truly I tell you, my Father will will give you w whatever you ask in my name.” The power resides in Jesus own name.

    I think it's important to note that Jesus was a minister of the old covenant, and spent much of his time exposing the fact that we can't do it on our own, and we need a savior. The cross inaugurated the new covenant, and changed everything. Jesus then personally appointed a man named Paul to reveal his work to the world, that being salvation by grace through faith alone, and that we are placed "in Christ", and clothed in his righteousness. That's the "gospel", the genuinely good news.

      Even though he said if anyone comes to him and who doesn't hate their family and their own life, they cannot be His disciple, and said to count the cost of following Him (Luke 14:25-33)
      Also from Matthew 10:34-36 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person's enemies will be those of his own household."
      Oh wait, Klavan doesn't think anyone needs to actually know Jesus to be IN Jesus... but Jesus says: "They said to him therefore, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.”" (John 8:19)
      And says: "Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.”" (John 6:48-47, but the whole passage is worth a read.)
      And John 1 says: "He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God."

In addition when Jesus is on the cross in Matthew 27:56: “Among them [at the cross] were Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.” so qt least James and Joseph despite being called adelphos of Jesus were Jesus's cousins.

The perpetual virginity dogma is an accretion over centuries that is not biblical. It is inspired but gnostic writings. Read the Protoevangelium of James.

      The Bible often refers to people as brothers who aren't actual siblings. Like Abraham and Lot are called brothers even though they are uncle and nephew. Sometimes it is a general term for relatives or a spiritual brother. This is because there isn't always a good English word to represent the original word in translation.

    According to Jesus, Himself, the means to salvation is the rebirth / regeneration. Everything else is secondary. Yes, once one is reborn, one must continuously repent (turn from sin) and strive to follow Jesus, but not as a means of salvation, but as a means of closer fellowship and growth. Salvation is completely God's work. We acknowledge our need for the gift, accept it, and believe Him.

    What you said was right on!!! I took it just how you meant it!!!!!!
    As a Christian I agree with the original video, in it's whole context! What you said, I was hoping to hear from more followers of Jesus.

    Thank you for your work and clarification. I believe you have a similar philosophy to C.S. Lewis in this matter. In my study of Scripture, I have come to a different conclusion, though you have made me ponder with your interpretation of the passage in Matthew 7. Thank you, again!

    That's it, to love unconditionally, overlooking the barriers of man.

    I’m sorry you stand with those who reject God’s purpose for your people Andrew. A rejection of the Jews as a covenant people must surely cause you to turn away from what is essentially evil, replacement or supercessionist theology.
