- Mahindra is offering the ALSV in different variants ranging from 6-8 seater armored protection vehicles for security, light armoured ambulance, command, and control vehicle, light mortar 81/82 mm vehicle, and as an ammunition carrier for light weapons.
Standard features on the Mahindra ALSV are B7 STANAG Level II protection, multi-layered ballistic glass, clamshell doors, tire inflation system, public address system, 50 km run-flat system, gun hatch, and air filtration and scavenging system. You also get to choose from a lot of optional equipment like surveillance configuration, in-service GPS, detachable & adjustable modular racks, automatic grenade launcher, electric winch, HF/VHF/UHF radio, mesh protection for the screen and windows, medium machine gun mount, camouflage net storage, blast mitigation floor mat and tactical command & control with mapping.
The LAMV (Light Armoured Multipurpose Vehicle) is a new 4×4 light patrol vehicle developed by India-based Tata Motors Defence Solutions in collaboration with Supacat of the UK. The vehicle was unveiled for the first time at the DEFEXPO 2014.
The vehicle can be deployed in troop transportation, reconnaissance, border patrol, convoy protection, light strike, and urban warfare missions.
Design and features of the TATA LAMV
The all-composite detachable crew pod and V-shaped hull is based on 4×4 chassis. The forward crew cab houses two while the troop section offers seating for four soldiers. The rear compartment provides space for carriage of equipment and cargo. The vehicle also contains a single roof hatch. The doors on either side of the vehicle and a rear door allow the quick ingress and egress of the crew.
The modular design of the LAMV allows for future upgrades while maintaining operational superiority during its service life. The vehicle also offers low life cycle cost as it uses indigenous equipment and systems. The major subsystems share a commonality with the other fleet of vehicles in service.

It's all up to Indian army to induct them fast,TATA LAMV was undergoing trials in 2015 still it's has not been inducted
Order shud be split between both Tata & Mahindra in the ratio 60:40 or 75:25. It will keep both companies engaged on one hand and there will be a healthy compition on the other hand.
Buy from Tata, Mahindra and Ashoke Leyland equally if quality requirement matches.

Bahut badhiya Tata & Mahindra. Dono ko aage badhao. Situation me hisaab se LAMV ka udyog ho sakta hai. Mahindra LAMV ki RAF, BSF, ITBP, JKPF aur naxalite area mein kar sakte hai (build thoda halka lagta hai) wahi Tata waali high risk areas main matlab front line main ho sakti hai. 2 suppliers aur vehicles hona jaroori hai production, logistics & maintenance ke Hisaab se matlab ek ke upoor jyada dependency na ho.
There is a huge demand for this product. I think that both companies can survive & achieve economies of scale, both are indian products 👍

Awesome comparison. Both looked armoured, robust & combat ready. I suggest Indian armed forces should buy both the variants. However TATA has little edge over Mahindra.
The tata vehicle seems to be best suited for the job. Acting as a comfortable and spacious troops carrier. Also point worth noting is that it has a mast fitted camera CCD and could esily act as a scout vehicle. Also could be retrofitted as command post, comms vehicle, ambulance, recce and electronic warfare vehicle apart from atgm carrier. Jai hind

Mahindra should also sell this vehicle to the public in India. There is no law in India that bans selling of bullet proof vehicles to the public.
Both may be inducted depending upon nature of theatre in which armed forces are operating. We have got diverse kind of geo- environmental areas, keeping this in view forces can decide. It'll good for paramilitary also for anti-naxal ops.

मेरे हिसाब से आर्मी को ऐसे व्हेकिल की काफी जरूरत है। और उन्हें दोनों कंपनीज की व्हेकिल लेनी चैये। ताकि दोनों स्वदेशी कंपनी बढ सके।

Most important thing in this scenario is troops carrying capacity in remote LAC which will be crucial in patrolling of many points. Every extra soldier carrying is far more important in these remote areas . So TATA is better.

Both appear to be highly capable. How is their cost comparison? If Indian army needs about one lakh of these vehicles, it can distribute its purchase between the two models. But I think the crucial factor might be how fast/soon can the companies deliver the orders.

Mahindra SALV is aesthetically pleasing. Tata LAMV is light weight and better in it's work. So, off course I'll prefer Tata LAMV.

Indian army needs humbee like light compact tough suv for border petrol...for easy traversing in hilly rocky and muddy road to himalaya rest are mere plain desert and relatively easy terrian. No compromise in quality like chinese brand
It is high time that India should participate private companies in defence sector. So that a manufacturing complex consists of multiple companies are developed. This is the only solution to have better production capabilities. Instead, Always new projects are awarded to public sector companies which will sleep on them for five years, develop for 20 years, test for another 10 years. While I do recognise their contribution towards the country, its time to change the system.
Both should be purchased.
Tata APC & Kalyani M4 should be given to Regular Indian Army on front line battlefields, & Mahindra APC should be dedicated to Indian para military forces like BSF, CRPF, & NSG, CISF, & Anti Terrorist Squads..of State Police..

Indian Army should purchase from both these vendors by dividing the order quantum. This should have been done by now. Unfortunately we dig a well when we are absolutely thirsty.
Mahindra is the only company making engines to nut bolt all indigenously hence no dependency on foreign supply chain which going to be killed by covid 19..
So Mahindra platform should be chosen...it could be further improved in future...
