  • Automotive Engineer David Chao checks out the quality of the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser - plus he goes over some interesting details of the vehicle that you may not be aware of. Also, this is a special version of the Land Cruiser in a sense that there are no accelerator or brake pedals, everything is controlled by the steering wheel called NEO Steering (New Era Steering). Watch the entire video to find out more about the new Land Cruiser 250 series.

Toyota could have taken the opportunity to use the J250 body on the J70 frame, especially with the engine already changing to the GD from the Hilux/Prado. Would have made for a nicer 70 and allowed for the same add-ons for NGOs/fleets that use both simple Prados and 76 series cruisers.

@@guentherwilke2055 70's frame is different and I think J250/300 frame is much sturdier. its just newer technology as with 70s series frame is not changed only body and engine.

The 70 series is the only car that survives high mileage travel in the outback working on mines. However, the new V6 turbo will have to prove itself against the outgoing V8 in the 70 series.

Hi David! I have been on a Land Cruiser/GX 550 news blackout, or hiatus, avoiding all of my channels like this, because Toyota goes long lengths of making us wait for news lol. I'm breaking my LC/GX information blackout, today, because the Tokyo auto show AND SEMA, so close together, and I now want to catch up on new news! I look forward to spending a bit of my afternoon combing through the videos and news from the Tokyo show and SEMA, hopefully hearing news about features and aftermarket partnerships! I really hope Toyota/Lexus has a few surprises for me, this year lol
I think this LC will do great! Everyone that doubts the use of a 4 cylinder/hybrid will owe Toyota an apology! I'm still buying a GX 550, but that is because I love that twinturbo V6 and want it in a Japanese built Toyota!

Are you in America? I'm in Australia and can assure you, the conventional Landcruiser (300 series) is built to a tough, high quality standard, even when compared to other Toyotas. The 250 series is basically a shortened version of the 300 (with more retro design). We don't have the 4 runner here anymore as it was replaced by the Prado back in the late 90s. However, the Landcruiser is the pinnacle of Toyotas and if cost isn't an issue I cannot see there being any comparison between a 4 runner or any Landcruiser.

I am in the US. I currently own a 5th Gen 4Runner 4.0 gas engine 5-speed auto. My mods-3"OME lift, Baja Boss AT 285/70/17's, dual batteries, Redarc controller,12,000lb winch, ICECO fridge 200 watts solar etc. Happy with it for now. I do like the 250 Landcruiser based on what we know so far. The 300 series here was over 100K American. If it is near 60K it could work for me. We haven't heard what the new 4Runner will be yet. Sounds like it will be on the same platform as the LC if so we'll see. Not in a hurry to change...Cheers!

    Hi David!
Excellent video the land cruiser is much more affordable but I don’t think that it has the off-road capabilities in my opinion of a two or a 300 and I am not happy with a four-cylinder hybrid system. People don’t understand how expensive it is to fix a hybrid system And I feel the same with electric vehicles. They’re putting them out way too fast way to ahead of time.. however, it is a beautiful looking vehicle very nice for an every day driver in my opinion….🇯🇵❤️🤍

what about the volume nob , its under the entertainment unit and the one shows for US its on awkward place next to the speedometer , why .
why Toyota adding black carpet on every vehicle why , and why not light color beige interior.
and why Toyota not adding good lighting insider interior , $50K + too much money .. they need to bring high quality martials .
raising prices not cool too , as American manufactures are doing and now they can not sell , used market is full of them , poeple buy them then returned them .

@@celticsfaninthedesert4778and the LC250 is going to come with lots of markups sadly. The LC250 is being shipped to basically every nation on earth from the same factory in Japan. Allocations and inventories in the US (and probably Canada too) are going to suckkkk

No way in hell unless you want the highest trim level. Toyota is first mass producing the first 5000 units in the highest trim model first.

Did David say the frame size is the same for current generation of Landcruiser? the 250 is 4" more narrow compared to the 300 so is that due to a wide body (7:44)

    • @AutomotivePress
      @AutomotivePress  Před 8 měsíci

Even if the body is slightly different size (usually due to fender flares), the frame will be the same size

Still curious of the longevity of the engine compared to the previous model that was good for 300 to 500k. The angle of the windshield is also concerning. Will it be a rock magnet for highway driving? Wait and see. Beautiful vehicle though

      V6?
That’s what the GX is for. Toyota knows what they’re doing…

Curious as to why it has such cool capabilities, but a pretty low ground clearance for a vehicle in this segment.

The markups on the LC250 in the US are going to SUCK.
The LC250 is being shipped to basically every nation on earth from the same factory in Japan. If low Toyota inventory is so bad now, I can’t imagine what allocations for the LC250 in the US as a whole are going to be like. If it’s bad enough, it could be harder to get than the GR Corolla.

Well I told that many times but people continued to cry how this was not a real Land Cruiser and wanted the 300 in US... well now you have it from and engineer's mouth: it IS the same frame and wheel base of the 300! And if you want the same engine too just go GX 550. :)
