    Everything you said about these Fujifilms is spot on! I’m two months into my X-E2, and I love not having to do much post, if any at all. I also love not having to carry around my heavier Sony, Canon, or Nikon systems too, but I set those aside for my professional work. Going full Fuji is tempting, but I think each manufacturer has their own qualities that I enjoy having at my disposal 🥲 again, great video! thanks!

    So in 2019 I bought an A7ii from a guy that sold it to get an x-t2. Me and my friends made fun of him for trading ff for apsc. Jokes on me after buying a x-e2 in 2020 I got hooked on Fuji. Now I'm more than 5k invested in this system and sold the sony and canon cameras I had before. It's outstanding that an xe2 can have better iso performance than a 6d.

    Very nice work! I started with the E3 when I moved from Canon to Fuji. Since then I've picked up the E1 and E2s. I also have an H1 and S20.
    I love using the E cameras. I mostly shoot with manual focus vintage film lenses on the E1. For me of the three, the E2s is in many ways the sweet spot. Have fun with your Fuj cameras!

    Just jumped from canon to the X-e4 with 23mm f2 lens... Shooting in jpeg with the film menus has got me taking the camera everywhere with me again and despite the lack of grip I quite like the ergonomics. Look forward to trying out more lenses and learning photography again.

    Hey love this. After watching your video and a few others I managed to get one on MPB so waiting for that. I had an X10 back in the day and remember how much I loved the cam. I then went to Nikon and then Sony but I miss a Fuji - they put the photographer in front of all the bells and whilstles. I thought this model would be a comprise but I’m so encouraged watching the reviews about it

    After some using a big full frame Pentax K-1 I started into the Fuji system with the X-E4 for street and discrete photography and I’m impressed with the image quality. After a bit of watching some YT channels I heard more about the nostalgia Fuji people have for the original X-Trans sensor so I recently I picked up an X-E1 for US$180 on fleabay. Yes the focus is slow and a bit clunky with some lenses but it’s a joy to use. I just love the simplicity. I’m finding it refreshing to abandon big heavy complex gear and sticking to one or two primes on either the X-E1 or X-E4 (far quicker in use) as walk around. It’s a joyful way to photograph

    I've been hooked on Fujifilm for a while with my X-T30 but a few years ago I bought a used X-Pro1 and I can relate to much of what you say on this video. I've almost dedicated the X-Pro1 to be my b&w camera but I find having a rangefinder like camera a fun experience. My biggest complaint besides it being slower due to age is that it I often wish the screen flipped out like the X-Pro3 so I could take photos low to the ground without having to get down on the ground. Every so often I browse the used market looking for other cameras in the lineup to play around with.

    I have the best of both worlds imo. A Sony A7ii and an Xe3. I exclusively use vintage lenses on both. Native mount lenses for these systems are eye-wateringly expensive. Buildings don’t move, flowers don’t move, landscapes don’t either. If I photograph a portrait, they only move their heads within the same plane of focus then freeze. Who needs autofocus for those subjects? 😉 Thanks for the video, I enjoyed watching it.

      they are quite similar but if you can pick one up for cheap, I'd definitely recommend it. I use it as my black/white camera (but don't pick it up as often as the XE-2). it's a much more limited camera. while it has the same button layout, almost none of them are customizable. it's okay though, you can find your way around. my personal opinion: grab one if you get a good deal on one and have a play with it 😊

    I’d love to pick your brain on the following…
    I’m having a hard time with deciding on a new Fuji body, struggling with choice and feeling like I want a new and/or third body.
    Right now I’m shooting on an XT3 and an X100V. Love both. I shoot studio portraits and headshots, personal branding photos and the occasional family session. Paid portrait work.
    I have fallen in love with the rangefinder style of the X100V, and I am eyeing the XPRO 3, but haven’t ruled out the XT4. But since the XT3 fills my needs fine, and I don’t do video, I am also considering just getting another XT3.
    I’m having a hard time deciding if I should sell my XT3, and get an XPRO 3, keep the XT3 and get another, or just wait and save for the XPRO3 and have three cameras (XT3, XPRO & X100).
    I like to work very minimalist, and I only have a handful of lenses.
    This makes me also STRONGLY consider the XE4.
    I would love your thoughts as to what you would do in my shoes.

    • @davidvongries
      @davidvongries  Před rokem

      my first question would be: why do you need/want another body?
      I'd likely go for the XE-4 since you already have the X100V & XT-3. Then, you have a bit of everything where the XE-4 is the latest of the bunch and you can always sell/replace one of them if you need to. it really comes down to what body you you prefer I think. I for instance like the compactness of the XE series.

    • @nanaresh1007
      @nanaresh1007 Před rokem

      I'll say getting another body will probably not satisfy you at this point. X100v and xt3 can do everything you need forever for the kind of job you do and even more. Even music videos and social media corporate ads when you want. The x100v with the 50mm adapter can also do much to your kit. I'll say I'll get maybe the xpro2 as a backup system. Very trusty camera and less issues compare to the pro3. So you get the interchangeable lens range finder body. Even for weddings I've had no issues with xt1, xpro2 and xt2. Even xpro1

    I liked the color recioies of the X-E1 over the X-E2, for the most part. X-E2 had less mushy greens, which for me, as someone who shoots landscape/nature, it's preferred. Now i have the Z50 and I'm happy with it, but I'll try Fuji for sure. I'm not sold to go full on Nikon, so could be time to change maybe. I came from a Nikon dslr and slrs to xe3 because I found one in 2020 for 300€ but I couldn’t get on with it. I wanted a smaller mirrorless, better iso and better focus and xe3 was just smaller which I found out did not like that much after all. There’s no other way of putting it, it’s just not for me. It doesn’t spark joy, it’s too cramped and a pain to handle, it slows me down too much more than film fully manual cameras do, I miss all the back buttons, the viewfinder is tiny and hardly usable, I hate the menu and the photos look great at ideal conditions but less than average all the other time. I don’t know maybe I’m judging it too hard or I spent too much time with Nikon (6 years) but I’m looking for replacement because I just don’t want to use it.

    • @davidvongries
      @davidvongries  Před rokem +1

      fair points! i haven’t got a chance to play with the x-e3 yet but as far as i remember it has fewer dials and buttons compared to older x-e2, is that correct? that’s at least true for the x-e4.
      would love to at least give those 2 cameras a try someday

    • @binarytrash
      @binarytrash Před rokem

      @@davidvongries the difference between xe2 and xe3 with the buttons is that they replaced the dpad with a tiny joystick (which actually I prefer, it’s easier to navigate the focus points as the xe3 has a lot more compared to the xe2) and they also moved all the buttons to the right side to be more accessible with one hand (which is what makes the xe3 feel too cramped. Well that along with the fact that they also made the body smaller) + they added a front wheel to the xe3 that initially I thought it would be helpful but all the Fujis have slr style shutter speed dial at the top and this just makes things more confusing.
      I mean don’t get me wrong, looking at the specs the xe3 doesn’t seem to lack on anything the form factor and the price alone are worth a try that’s the reason I went for it but handling it in person is another experience and it’s just not working for me.
      As for xe4, there’s a thing called "too much minimalism" and I think it suffers from it. It looks cool I guess if you want basically a point and shoot with interchangeable lenses but I don’t see how it would be functional for anyone who’s not shooting in auto or priority modes.
      A used xe3 at a fraction of that price is a way better deal in my opinion.
