In math context, exact value means having to express in a precise form i.e fractions or surds, so decimals are not in a precise form.

It is a mistake to refer to rational and radical forms as "exact values." For example, let's look at the fraction 2/3. We say that is an exact value as opposed to its decimal equivalent, 0.6666... where the sixes continue on forever. However, 2/3 is not exact; it is just the math problem: 2 divided by 3 in an unfinished form. We tend to think of fractions as numbers in the same way as whole numbers or integers, when in fact, fractions are division problems
