Join me for a first drive and look at the latest offering from Ferrari, the replacement to the California and California T, during the global premiere media drives. From exploring the exterior and design touches, to taking it for a blast on a wonderful road, let's discover what the Portofino is all about.
Getting underway outside Bari, Italy, we can take a full look at the car with the roof up (stay tuned to see the mechanism and what it's like down). From items such as the styling and aero, to glancing at the 3.9l Twin Turbo V8 that makes 600PS and 760Nm. Then it's time to jump on the road and discover the driving modes and whether the Portofino could now be classed as a 'real' Ferrari. Finally a wrap-up with more of the interior and some final thoughts about what this gorgeous car is about.
This particular Portofino is painted in the launch colour, 'Rosso Portofino' and wears a number of carbon fibre exterior options. The base price for the car comes in at £166k, but expect to spend £190k by the time you've kitted out your options.

Wow! I'm 63 and I'm really smitten with the new Portofino! At my age the idea of driving a hardtop convertible appeals to me. Always love convertibles, but a Ferrari convertible? Consider me impressed!

Shmee I have a slight disagreement with you.granted the new car is faster with the snails on them but they mute what I think makes you lust after a ferrari.i think the sound is the soul of what makes a Ferrari a ferrari.given the choice of the first,second and third gens of this car I would take the first gen California with an armytrix f1 exhaust

Nahh cali was closer to maserati than a ferrari. It was supposed to be a maserati as well. It looked soft for a ferrari and little bit fat on front. Portofino is much more aggressive.

Not from factory, not sure any European cars can do that out the box.

Saab had a remote option to open the roof from the key fob back in 2004,it was the American law at the time that stopped them remotely being able to close the roof.

Absolutely gorgeous! I'd like to see this next to an Aston Martin Volante.
I drove one of these in Nov. and was immensely impressed. great top, looks great in both positions. Decent space. but best of all it drives superbly. it's fast, very fast and handles extremely well. maybe not quite at 488 levels, but not too far off. today prices are very friendly, and coming down. I would think low mileage examples in the next year or two will be well worth looking for & represent decent value. nice review old sport.

Christian Angus is you knew the facts you’d say the 812 is a phenomenal car made in all of motoring history. They don’t look like a Lamborghini or a Pagani but the 812 is every way much dignified.

But it’s such a phenomenal evolution from the f12 (driving dynamics) I expected Ferrari to make every car stunning like the 458 but the withdrawal of pininfarina has not really caused any damage to how a FERRARI drives but just the looks. Which didn’t matter at all people who buy a Ferrari for how it drives. Rest of them chose a Lamborghini. There are dumb tits who think the amg gts looks great. What do we do ? Haha

Great looking car ,no doubt .But for that much money I'd rather get a Lamborghini Huracan because you get more exotic for your buck.The Ferrari is a little more tame in style and motor compared to Lambo.But great video anyway!

Great video, only just seen this. Said to a friend the other day only the Ferrari Portofino and California, plus Merc SL have got the hard top to look like a coupe and thus look good when the roof is up. Amazing stuff!

I feel Ferraris are not leading the way in looks anymore. The wow factor has gone unfortunately. I’m still a fan but only of the mid engine stuff really.
Whereas I'm hugely keen on the 812superfast, GTC4Lusso and Portofino! The front engined game is winning for me
compare old ferrari to new, new has always more wow factor, unless you talk f30 and enzo but compare the f430 and 360 to 488 and the 812

Imo Ferrari is kind of losing its touch, they still make great cars and they don't look necessarily bad but i think maybe they have gone very aero-heavy and lost some elegance, wich is key for Ferrari.
We already have Lambos if we want to see a radical and agressive style.
