The world-renowned philosopher and culture theorist Byung-Chul Han is a critic of neoliberalism and lifestyles built on the postmodernist zeitgeist and digital devices. His books The Burnout Society, Saving Beauty and Psychopolitics are international bestsellers.
Han rarely appears in front of the general public and avoids public speeches, which is why we feel especially honoured to have had him give the commencement speech at this year’s BA graduation ceremony at MOME in our Auditorium.

Anyone have the full English transcript?
Any interpretation on what he means by thinking "on" the object (as opposed to thinking "about" the object)? Around 15:00.
on seems to be more forceful than about. this reflected in the language since to be on something is much more intimate and can require more power, than to simply be “about” or around, not having to invest as much of yourself. it also seems to have more of an imperative quality. thinking “about” the object means that it is a concern, but not necessarily *the* concern. anyone can think about an object, but it takes more effort and craft to make the object the complete center of attention. you could also look at it in another way, where “thinking on the object” literally means applying/imbuing “thinking” (noun form, i.e ones thoughts and worldview) onto the object itself. i don’t think the phrase itself literally means this but it captures this sentiment which Han ends up expressing later on anyway.

The first interpretation was also sort of what I was thinking, but it seems like just a poetic way of saying "think about the object just really intensely..."

I wish people would define "neo liberal regime"
Neoliberalism is a system of beliefs and principles loosely resumed by the concept that anything can be turned into a private enterprise and a product, from classic stuff like car manufacturing, to more abstract concepts Iike education. To say it's a regime is because it has established itself as a ruling system by which we operate without freedom of choice or any real power over it, examples being when during the second half of the 20th century private companies would establish dictatorships and authoritarian regimes in third world countries in order to get lower costs of production. A neoliberal regime is then the global system of capitalist economies that transcend frontiers, as companies hold power over governments, social causes, etc. Everything being turned into profit, everything under the power of capitalist monopolies and the derived consequences brought from it.

Then no such thing exists; look at tariffs, border controls, and the fact that everything isn't a monopoly, and the fact no country allows the commodification of everything.
Neoliberal seems to be a thing that people who introduce market reforms are called, especially when the market reforms don't work out so well.
Governments are much more powerful than corporations, they are the ones that have the monopoly on violence, ultimately.
