Cataract???
Get water out of air . Check on it
I’m on level 3286 of Toon Blast! I home 24/7 caring for my 94 year old dad.
Dusty are you Indain , I am Choctaw Nation my grandfather was born on the Choctaw land❤😊
I live in Irving Texas and we have 4 inch across lots of the .
You need someone to go out on the field to "Witch" for water location either with a tree branch or a metal coat hanger. People may scoff at this idea, but it works ! My Dad always "Witched" on his properties with a metal coat hanger and never drilled a dry well. He always had success with wells having lots of water in them.
Yeah, I've heard good things too, about witching. Hope you give it a try, Dusty.
It actually works! You might want to try that. Less expensive.
Mr grandpa did it in Texas, it's amazing how it works!
I use brass braising rods to locate water. In this age of lydar there's no excuse for a dry well if there's any water down there.
Geologist now fly over soil formations with very sophisticated equipment and are able to locate many minerals including gold and silver deposits. That's the land China wants to buy up. It's known to everyone except the owners to have valuable minerals.
My aunt used to do it with a coat hanger and it worked everytime
Did you think about having a water “Witcher” try to find some water on your property? I have seen two different people witch for water in a pasture on different occasions and picked the exact same spot where two streams crossed. We drilled and got water.
My Great Uncle Raymond did water witching. He taught my dad how to do it. I swear by it. Not sure why they drilled next to the spigot that they knew was dry. Get to witching, Dusty!
Was going to suggest the same " witching rods ".
Where I lived in Michigan, your property was switched before the expensive drillers came in. Then you knew exact location and depth before.
I done it once with 2 coat hangers and it worked great!
I agree, get a Witcher!
Maybe find someone to come out and use dowsing rod to see if they can find a place you might have water on the land. Dutch did and they found water.
The ground with open cracks and dead grass is what our little pasture here in west Texas looks like. Over 100 days no rain! Over 100 days triple digit temps! It’s Sept and no relief in sight! Best wishes for Dunbars sight!
I'm sorry about the water drilling didn't go well.
Poor Dunbar!! Hope he is okay. Please keep us updated on both! ❤❤❤
really want an up-date on Dunbar's eye
... please up-date Dunbar's eye soon again...
Dusty done a update. Dunbar must of gotten it poked to hurt it. Doc placed him on antibiotics to help it heal and stay off infection. Now it's wait and see if the eye has permanent damage or not.
Poor Dunbar - he is having a rough year as well. Prayers for him.
I am so sorry that you did not hit water. Prayers for rain that way.
Just spotted Dunbars eye, you think Hoss got a lucky horn in the big boys eye? Sure hope it doesnt blind Dunbar in that eye.
Looks like pinkeye I used to see in cattle
Putting in a water well ?😮 Good luck your endeavor!😊
Dunbar looks very uncomfortable! Poor guy!😢
@@bernieyorke6356yep cattle get it from face flies
Yea, sure looks bad, a blind eye will make it tough for Dunbar. Sad. 😢
Dusty you can get aerators for those ponds. Get a piston driven septic pump and a couple of diffusers will improve the quality of your pond water. It helps digest the organic matter. Pecans go for $10 a pound shelled.
#crosstimberbison
Reading the comments to see if anyone made the suggestion 😉
Good suggestion
Hoping Dunbar’s eye will heal without loss of sight. Regarding your water situation, you have several barns with large roofs and you could do rain catchment into cisterns. Then use that for your water troughs. I know you have dry summers, but you do have rain and snow melt in the rest of the year that you could capture. Best of luck!!!
With the well, a water Witcher will save you a lot of money. My dad used them on 3 different properties and, every time, good placement and great water.
Where I grew up, it was called Dowsing. Funny how the exact same thing can have so many names. 🙂
I’m so sorry you weren’t able to hit water dang it! I hope Dunbar’s eye can heal with treatment and he hasn’t gone blind in his eye. You sure have been through a lot this summer, but keep on keeping on! You’ll get through this and continue to be a success at your business. We’re all behind you.
Thanks who has to watch now you posted the spoiler
@@joywebster2678 Actually before even watching! “If we hit, this will be huge!” What does that mean to you? I think most people watching know exactly what that means. I feel bad for Dusty seeming his excitement leave his face as they weren’t hitting water. That would have been huge. So sorry if you’ve been offended, but if you have, you choose to get offended easily and that’s on you. Eight seconds in the video it shows them drilling!
I too am keeping Dunbar in my prayers.
NOW! Have you considered hiring a geologist to take a look at the property? He might be able to get you into the best spot to drill. Just a suggestion. God Bless You all. 💖🌹🙏🙏🙏🦬🇺🇸
I'm also sorry that you didn't hit any water. Drill records for the area can only tell you so much; the rest is left to chance. Did you try having a water witch come out and douse for you? I'm not sure how it works, but some people just seem to have the gift. It's worth a try.
@@joywebster2678 You didn't have to read the comments before watching the video. Personally, I read the comments to see what happens, then watch the video. That way If it's click bait I don't waste my time watching the video.
Dunbar may have pinkeye from grazing and fly pressure. His eye looks white due to his third eyelid being swollen from inflammation. He will likely need antibiotics.
I had a foal born with his third eyelid like that.
That would be quite a challenge putting antibiotics on his eye!! Any suggestions from anyone with bison to help his eye?
Dusty has a squeeze shoot he can use for injection, or he can dart him too. Saying he needs antibiotics doesn’t imply ocular drops or ointment. Even domestic bovine/cattle care is dart or squeeze shoot.
I had my sister witch my well, then called in the crew to dig the well. She hit the water right on the spot and depth she said. She said that was the best spot as there were three streams merging there. If the well diggers had dug where they wanted, I don't think it would have turned out as well. Even tho it's a shallow well, it has never run dry or been pumped dry even after 24 hours.
Poor Dunbar - please keep us informed about his eye. I ❤ DUNBAR
Have you tried getting someone in who can use dousing rods?
Sorry to hear that after all the drilling, you did not hit water.
Hope Dunbar’s eye is not damaged!
Thanks for sharing your Ponderosa life with us! 💕
Prayers up, for water! 🙏
I'm so sorry about the disappointment on the water drilling. That's discouraging. Generally, a white eye isn't a good sign. I sure hope and pray that I'm wrong. In spite of the numerous set-backs this year, you two are doing a fantastic job caring for and raising your animals.
Just not a great day. Hope it improved.
White eye usually means a cataract and he might be or go blind. Or an infection, but as an opthamalist assistant it is usually a cataract. Hope I am wrong.❤
Shoot.. no wells… you think a spring keeps feeding that creek? Sorry, could the creek be enlarged? Get a person who does witch witching find a spot. Dutch did that and they found a good well.
Uhoh! Either Dunbars eye got jabbed or an infection. Check with the doc. We all need rain and more rain in TX..
Dunbars eye is an infection caught from fly's I'd defo say- here in the UK with cows like like we call it new forest disease, pink eye or various other names. Iv usually put an antibiotic tube under the eyelid for 3-4 days or a vet can inject antibiotic and cortisone under the membrane, in dairy cows, quite easy. No idea how the hell you can do that with an American bison??? Good luck?
Hi, Dusty and family! Dusty, I'm sorry you didn't hit water at either drill site. Have you ever thought about trying Water Witching? It really does work. You might try to witch yourself, although it doesn't always work for everyone. I did it myself in the mid-1970s while working on a dairy farm. The hired man was supposed to track the water from the well-house to the spring hole by the windmill, as the owners were going to be doing some underground work on the main driveway, but the bent copper rods he was working with weren't working for him, I asked him if I could try. He handed the rods over to me. I started at the well-house and slowly walked back and forth across the driveway in front of the garages. I followed the spring's path until I got to the windmill. I could feel the water's strong pull and watched as the two rods crossed each other. I left a mark in the dirt every time they crossed. I was later asked if I could trace the electrical wiring from the house to the barn. I didn't know if I could or not. I said I'd give it a try. I had the same results. Only the pull wasn't as strong as when I tracked the water. As the work progressed on the driveway, I was later told, after cooking supper and doing my evening chores, that I had been spot-on where the spring and wiring ran. I was happy I had saved the owners a lot of money and unnecessary delays in their project. I am sorry to see Dunbar's eye. Eye injuries happen so fast, and their unknown origins leave us baffled. I sincerely hope something can be done about it.
I am so sorry you weren't able to hit water. Omgoodness, Dunbar's eye looks painful. I hope Doc Parsons can help him out 🙏❤️🦬❤️ Sending prayers for clean fresh water 💙 and for Dunbar's eye 👁❤️🙏❤️
Dusty have you looked into rainwater harvesting? Seems like you could set up a couple of roof sites to harvest from and also provide shade for your bison. A lot of people have had really successful rainwater systems.
Yes we have! It hasn’t rained since July 5th ☹️
You have to receive rain for harvesting rainwater to be successful!
Hi guys living in central Oklahoma I know we haven't had rain in a while. When I asked about rain harvesting I was talking about future use. If a few large cisterns were full of water in the future this problem not having rain would not be so intense. I really wish I had a quick fix for the problem.
I love watching them run in the pastures after you❤
Sure hope you will be able to get Dunbars eye fixed. He is such a beautiful majestic animal. ❤❤
His eye looks like my dog when she got a Corneal Ulcer. Usually caused from Trauma. Like rubbing, foreign body, etc. She filmed like that. It was in her left eye, and when she walked, she stayed to the right. The eye drops helped. She had some scaring, but she could see. I could tell when she could see again. It happens fast.
When we moved to our 5 acres there was a well that was 60 feet deep and it would go dry. So we had it drilled to 115 feet and did not hit any new water. But just 100 foot away there was a well that the neighbor had that bunches of water as one time it ran his house, our house and the next door neighbor on the other side. À few feet times just makes a difference.
Wonder how they pick. Any Ariel surveying. Sure they don’t just guess. This cant be cheap. I don’t see any natural water source around there.
Where is the source of the creek. Would that not be better
@@lynettefindlay84it just runs through the property but they did try drilling next to it. No luck.
Water witching, it works if you get an experienced witcher. It’s not hocus pocus. It’s certainly less expensive than drilling wells by quess.
I absolutely commend you for all you do to keep such a magnificent animal living forever ❤
Did you hire a DOUSER. A WATER WICKER. CANT HURT.
Please, dear Jesus, take care of Dunbar. I pray he does not go blind. I asked this in your name, Jesus, amen.
In thinking about your water well, are you able to generate some electricity with a windmill and/or solar?
🤗Use a water (witch) douser👍They saved our desert ranch, when others said it was not possible 😊
Maybe there’s a seismic survey from your area that shows the underground layout of your property
Marissa, you have stolen my heart, collecting wildflower seeds 😊👍
Just an idea Dusty. Have you watched Dutch and Brandies Channel? Before they moved to where they are now, Brandies father did some water divining. When the drillers got to them, they hit water, but they had to drill to over 300ft. Maybe get in a diviner. You never know, they might be able to detect some water for you.
Going to start praying for rain for you and your Bison you do such a great job with them, sure hope that Dunbar’s eye is ok you don’t need more trouble.
Amen!
It's been a horribly hot summer. Sorry about not hitting water. Dunbar's eye is shocking. Hopefully, something can be done. Prayers for things to get better.
So sorry for not hitting any water prayers for rain for you. Poor Dunbar now something wrong with his eye he's been through so much lately
Poor Dunbar, he's had it rough with Big Joe and now with his eye, I hope he isn't going blind, to bad the drilling didn't work out!!
Dusty - have faith! In my area, Kent Island, Maryland, wells have to be drilled 350 to 400 ft because our polluted underground water level is 250 to 275 ft.
Please keep us posted on Dunbar.
Have you thought about dousing for water before drilling? The team you have now may do it. Many don't believe in it. I had dousing done at my house. First well-driller didn't believe in it and I told him not to let the door hit him on the way out. There was no water where he said he would drill. Someone who did douse found where 2 streams crossed and I got 60+ gallons a minute in a drought. Might be worth a try. Good luck!
I'm so sorry you weren't able to drill a water well anywhere on the property. I'm also very sorry to see Dunbar's eye has been injured. It looks like he might be blind in that eye now. At this point, I'm sure there's nothing that can be done to treat it. Thanks for keeping us updated!
Waiting for Dunbars diagnosis? Interested, curious and concerned.
I was thinking the same thing….it was probably injured when he got into that fight with Big Joe. White eye def isn’t good
Great video Dusty. I never knew Bison could run 😂. Living in Ireland, we don't have anything like Bison, so it has been fascinating learning all about them 😊
Watching a group of bison run together can me gasp. Here in Canada we had herds that were thousands strong. They would have sounded and felt like earthquakes . They kept the Native population fed for thousands of years. Then us white folks came along. Bang, there goes all the Buffalo.
You should read up on them they are incredible animals.
Sorry about well. Dunbar looks like he went blind
Bison can run 30-40 miles per hour. When a herd "stampedes" they are pure destruction.
Some of Dusty's friends at Black Axe Ranch have some nice buffalo. They are just starting out but the videos are extremely well done and informative. I think you would like the family.💞
Sorry about the wells,Dusty please keep us informed we love Dunbar also, stay safe.
Those pecans can make you a lot of money. We use to do it for our Christmas money.
I love that the Buffalo run alongside your truck like a puppy and are always so curious about what is happening 😊
Your bison are very food motivated every time you’re in one of the pastures they come running right up to you
A costly effort on the water venture but I admire your efforts toward being more productive on your ranch. Just keep up the good work
I hope Dunbar’s eye problem isn’t serious. Everyone is praying for rain for you and all of the farmers. Take care!
Sounds like you need to split the Dunbar and Hoss herd in half.
Not the way to drill for water, you need a water witch (someone that knows how to use the sticks). My great grandfather was great at it.
Praying this draught and heat ends soon. We're in SW TX on the border and they put restrictions on the farmers and ranchers for irrigation again.
I love Big Joe, Dunbar and Elanor; their the best, but then I love all the red dogs too their so darn cute!
Man if it weren’t for bad luck….sure wish things would go your way and hope dunbars eye is okay. Many years ago we had to go down several hundred feet to hit water. We had the are doused and found that anyone really can douse. Don’t give up. It’s got to be there somewhere! Take care
Poor Dunbar! Hope his eye will be ok. Sorry about the water!
Those animals love and trust you do much. They come to you as soon as they see you. Those moms brining their babies to you is true trust. Please keep us updated on dunbars eye.
Praying for Dunbar!!!
Dusty have you tried " Witching Rods "?? For finding water...hope Dunbar will be okay ❤
love how the bison respond to your presence and know you are there to help them .
Prayers, sorry you are having it so hard.❤🦬🦬🦬
Sorry about not finding water. I’m praying for Dunbars eye to be healed! He’s my favorite and I pray he won’t lose his sight in that eye. 😢 ❤️🦬❤️🙏🙏🙏❤️
My uncle was an artesian well driller. I was a kid so I don’t remember much other than it supplied the farm and the house. I do remember the taste though. It was fantastic! I hope you try again. It’ll be worth it.
I hope Dunbars eye gets better.
Use a divining rod?🙄
Dusty find an old-timer & use a witches wand to walk the property looking for water!!! If you have water they will find it & they are always 100% spot on!!! You certainly have some older indians in the area!!!
Maybe Dunbar has pinkeye/IBK. Whatever it is, I pray for the best for the big guy. 🙏💞✌️🇺🇲 As for the water situation, could you occasionally divert creek water into a watering trough?
Sorry about not hitting water...i would definitely try out the witching thing with the rods..ive seen it done and its worked..also maybe try it in greener spots maybe if there are some on the property..hope Dunbar will be ok
From CT both wells on our property 300’ to rock and300’ more
For a reservoir! Crazy where water tables are at. Best wishes for a very needed solution
Prayers for Dunbar and prayers that you get some rain soon an cool temps
Poor Dunbar looks like a huge cataract. Hope what ever happened to the eye it gets better and fully recovers.
Hello Dusty & Marissa, sorry you didn't hit water, was hoping you would. Wow, looks like a cataract. Not that I would know. Hope fully nothing serious. Can't wait for Marissas flowers next spring!
🙏🙏 coming to you, your family & the herd of bison. Take care. I hope things start looking up for CTB🤠🤗🥰🫶🇺🇲 stay safe this weekend & hope you get some good 23:09 news from doc! 💙💜
I am sorry you had such a discouraging couple of days. It’s been a difficult summer for y’all on many levels. At least you tried and gained information to help with future plans and decisions.
Prayers for Dunbar and all you who are treating him. I know he is being well cared for and receiving all the help available to him. Sending y’all (including Dunbar) big hugs from the piney woods of east Texas.
have you thought about a water witch? a one that s a good sensitive can tell you 1) do you have water 2) where it is and 3) how deep. I met one my grandma knew that is the last I have known of full fledged witch and that was 55 years ago and he was in his 80s, I took a workshop 30 years ago and did pretty good so there are probably more out there
Looks like you'll have one heck of a pecan crop, just find time to collect an sell them at mom's shop o g with bison meat. God Bless
Hope Dunbar eye is going to be ok. Sorry you didn’t hit water, I will keep you in my prayers
Sorry you didn't hit water. Good luck figuring out an option for getting water out there. Hope and pray Dunbar's eye is ok . Have a great Labor Day weekend. GOD BLESS Y'ALL.
Water is Life! 💦💙🩵💦
Most people won't believe in what advice I am going to give you. Find an old fashioned water dowser, a water witch. A person that can find water with a "Y" fruit tree limb. Most common limb used is cherry. Some people also use peach. All through the Appalachia Mountains for centuries. Water was found by Dowsers, Water Witches. The house I live in now. The well was found by my grandfather over 60 years ago. Well hit water at 110 feet. Drilled the pocket down to 213 feet. Wishing you the best of luck.
Are there any Dowsers or aka water witches in the area? I've never had to dig a well but I've known people that used a water witch to find where to dig
Oh poor Dunbar. Not his best year so far. Thanks for the interesting videos. Blessings.
DUSTY and Melissa, sorry about Dunbar and the wells not working out for you. Hope you get a ton of rain really soon, to get all your ground a wet job done. Take care, you are in my prayers for rain. David B.,Utah ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤.
I don’t remember what’s called, but I’ve seen it done and I think it’s called “water dosing” where a person used two sticks or wire and walks along until the sticks or wire start pulling to the ground. Somehow they always find a source of water. It’s just an idea. I’ve seen it done in Northern Arizona on ranches and it worked every time!! Some wells up there have had to go deep, but the supply is still there.
Marissa I gather wildflower seeds and they make good flower gardens.
Man, that's a shame about no well water found! You were so excited, and so were the rest of us! Hopefully Dunbar's eye can be treated, depends on what the doc says, though. Keep your chin up! Y'all are doing the best that you can do! 'When one door closes, there's always another one opening'!❤
We used a douser, and still went to 225 feet. My parents house is less than 50 yards from my well, and they hit water at 100' and 50 gallons a minute. They have an artesian well.
I just love that tuft of hair on the top of a bison's head. When they move their head the right way or run, it looks like a wig about to come off their head. 🤣😂 Bison are so cool!
Praying for you for some water and Dunbar. Please let us know when you know. God bless, stay 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😍
good luck in your search for water a friend near Wichita drill 12 with no luck from 50 - 175 #13 water at 200 but salty if it ran for 10 - 15 minutes it turned fresh. central US was once an ocean 65+ million yrs ago, Hope Dunbar gets better !
I saw on Sonne Farms where they had this same problem with their beef cattle having the clouded eye. It was pink eye. They put medicine in their eyes and gave them some type of shot with one of those dart guns. Maybe reach out to them. I hope it’s easy to treat and it’s not permanent.
My heart sank when the 2nd drilling was dry. It was all over your face. Been praying for folks i follow, but really all farmers & ranchers dealing with the drought, doing everything to keep from losing livestock and crops. Continued prayers.
Bummer about the water. And about Dunbar's eye. Recently found your channel, don't usually comment but know that helps so will try to do that each week. Will pray about Dunbar's eye. Please keep us posted. I'm thrilled about your raising bison. Such a magnificent animal - truly a national treasure. Thanks for sharing.
Just wondering if you got someone to come and water witch for water? Some oldtimers sometimes use willow branches held in their hands and when they find water the branches cross there is generally water under the ground.
100 ft & still no water. Dusty, can you possibly work on a catchment system to catch & store your winter rains? Maybe that would be a partial solution.
It makes me realize just how wise & how blessed my grandparents were to have acquired 60 acres of land adjacent to the Willamette River in Oregon. I'm pretty sure they didn't have to drill deeper than 20-30 ft at most. But the back-to-back floods of Dec.1964 & Feb. 1965 sure hit us hard. Only their house & yard stayed dry. Our foundation was 4 ft off the ground & that was enough to keep it from coming inside, but our floors warped from the underneath side where water did reach. We stayed at their house just up the road. It was a hasty decision that saved our lives - we didn't know that the road had washed out in the other direction, had we headed for town instead. NEVER drive through floodwaters!
We watched a tractor disappear into those waters, and I suppose it's still buried there somewhere.
Farming & ranching is a tough living in good times. But it's a good life, & the best place to raise kids. They'll have a good work ethic.
Maybe dig out some deep spot along the creek so they fill up and don't stop the flow of the creek but they give some feeder pools you could pump out of if needs be.
So sorry you didn’t hit water. Been praying for rain for everyone caught in the drought. Praying Gunnar will be okay. God’s blessings.
I hope Dunbar is ok and his eye problem isn't too serious !
I don’t know if anyone has told you,but eyes can go south in an hour. On horses we put masks on them to keep the affected eye out of the sun. Don’t think Dunbar would stand for that😂 Keep the meds coming into that eye if at all possible. Hope it works out. So sorry about the 💦. Need a divining rod. You can find one really easy. Good luck🍀
Those old hand pumps are a blast from the past. I haven't seen one of those since the 70s.
Sorry about Dunbar's eye. Praying for you to find water. My grandmother found our well just by looking at the land. It was a gusher! 🙏🙏🙏
Question did you have a Proffesional Dowser go threw to locate water before you drill ????
Even major companies use Dowser s to find oil and water.
Hope Dunbars eye is salvageable.
I believe from watching a farmer drilling a well on one of his farms. You want to see gravel right before you hit water. Then they’ll let it run for a day or so to make sure it’s got a good source of water and you’ll measure it to see what you can put out and not run the well dry.
Dunbar looked to have an infection, maybe you’ll cover this towards the ending of vlog
So sorry for dry wells 🙁 I hope everything is okay with Dunbar👁️
I am team Eleanor ❤
Hi!!!! Luv ur channel & family!!! I watch homestead channels and they collect rain water in huge plastic containers and surround with gates? Would that be an option? Use pvc pipes to empty in water the water tires?
Omg! I'm laying in my bed all day due to a fall, I have binge watched all your videos the entire day! These Bison are so majestic, and your baby is a cute little nugget!
I have seen the white in the eyes of goats and cows on channels I watch. They said it is pink eye which is common in August/September...caused by flys I think. It can be treated.
Did you check the county well maps to see how deep the wells around you are?
Nothing sadder that getting skunked while drilling for water. We drilled once, got skunked, drilled backed up about 10 feet, drilled about 280 feet and hit.
There are medicines to treat eye injuries. Back in June I thought my Chihuahua was going to loose his eye, he had multiple ulcers in it. I used 3 different kinds of eye meds often. The vet was a little hesitant about the medicine with the Steroid in it. Just as soon as I used it as a last resort, it healed very quickly. I hope it's not too late for Dunbar. I hope you have a vet with experience in eye issues. Hang in there Buddy!
