- Welcome to a new adventure on the channel in the 1.20 Trails and Tails update!
In this episode we go on quite the adventure to find out start base area and we build up our start home in a bamboo jungle.
I've decided to build in a more traditional Japanese style, and so building in a bamboo jungle seemed like the perfect fit!
I'm excited to explore all the new 1.20 blocks, mobs and features!

The trapdoors are amazing
Should've reduced that entity render distance thing. Items can't despawn if players aren't close enough, just like animals and monsters don't move in a certain distance.
Completely agree about the bamboo trap doors. The best bamboo block in my opinion. Mosaic bamboo is now one of my favorite flooring blocks too.

I love the starter house! its so cute and creative! I love the longer episode too and I can tell you put so much effort into the video. Lots of deaths but thats ok! happens to all of us now and again. Can't wait for Ep 2!

Great opening episode to the new series!! I love that house, and the way you used the bamboo for the interior details.🤩 I think all those wood types out of the gate makes up for that death count!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it Oda! I rly like using bamboo for the wood type too! Getting all the wood types was a definite perk to things!
Could use haybales as Tatami mats, aka woven straw mats used as floor mats and beds and could also use birch trapdoors as wall partitions since japanese wall partitions are made of white non-see thru paper hung on wooden frames. Just a thought for later. really wish they would add in dyeable glowstone, sea lanterns and clay pots for plants. More of a home and garden update. Also they gave us a cherry biome but no cherries to pick or cherry pie. so sad.
Loved this episode, it's actually really good to a CZcamsr who's good at what they do get taken out by various things 😂 gives me hope!

Wow im obsessed with the house you made! I’ve been to Japan before and I think you did an incredible job recreating some of the features of a Japanese styled house. I also have some recommendations for what to name the parrot! Gertrude, crackers, pickles (it was the name of my childhood parrot who died), and blue! I think these make for some adorable names, and I’m excited for this series ❤😊

I love your vids! You put so much effort in your vids. For the parrot I was thinking It could be Charlie.
Dying to skeletons, creepers and even zombies can often happen early game … but throwing yourself off a cliff in the hope of surviving, that’s just super crazy. I’d say you had a great start despite dying a few times. I love the play style, adventurous, easily distracted and with a little bit of craziness and bravery thrown in for good measure.
Yeah the cliff yeet was a slim shot but hey, that's what survival instead of hardcore is for XD Glad you enjoyed the playstyle! I'm having a ton of fun in this world✨

Lol. The skeletons and creepers were using small unit tactics against you. A blocking force to pin you with flanking units.
I don't know if you've seen it yet but you can make another block out of bamboo which is bamboo mosaic. It's made out of bamboo planks and looks absolutely amazing. I'm sure you'd love it, Red😊

A helpful suggestion is that 2 crit hits from an iron axe is enough to kill creepers :)

I'm new around here and I loved your video! I think the fact that you died so many times is refreshing. So many streamers don't really showcase the unfortunate events that take place. I think it makes your experience more realistic to us regular players. I also am a little ashamed to say that I never thought to use boats to get the leads from the wandering trader. >.< I recently learned that if you just let him do his thing long enough, they'll break as well. I got 2 yesterday in my game and I didn't touch him or his llamas. I love your house! The only thing I would be worried about is mobs spawning on the roof or balcony. Do you block spawns in some way? I also didn't realize they added so much to bamboo for uses! Thank you for showcasing all of that!

also, for the parrot, i suggest Sora which is a japanese name meaning sky (cuz it's a bird and is sky blue)
edit to add: maybe she keeps the names in the japanese theme due to the build style for this world being japanese? :D

I know everyone loves to hate on beetroot seeds in chests and the roots as a crop, but they're actually a top-tier early game item to find. Not for eating; beetroot soup sucks. Very bad borscht; lousy recipe. But they're an ideal crop for farming pigs and chickens for food; seeds for your hens and tubers for the hogs~

Hmm... Probably was worth the trouble. The house is actually pretty nice. I think the only thing I don't like about it is the cherry blossoms, and it's not just because I hate the color pink. I just think the ones flanking the front door are a bit too much but that's just me. 😅 Despite the extra time and effort, you're doing well. 😁👍
