Hey guys. This is 1 of a series of 3 videos dedicated to the legendary Jason Becker. In case you aren’t familiar, Becker was a virtuoso guitarist who began his rise to fame in the late 80’s before being diagnosed with ALS. Even though the illness has prevented him from playing guitar, he has continued to compose and release music to this day. Our man Jason (Sheppard) has decided to do this video to honour Becker and his incredible influence on him as a musician. He discovered Jason Becker after 2 years of playing and stumbled upon the Serrana arpeggios video. It was a life changing moment for him and it inspired him to become a good guitarist.

Jason Becker is a very special person and is so cool that Kiesel is helping him with the sale of these guitars (the guitar is absolutely killer. It’s actually my favourite guitar that I own). never heard of this Jason Becker guy but this is awesome. I looked him up and its unfortunate he got ALS, he is a great guitarist and writer.
It's almost like some kind of sick cosmic joke... the man is one of the most gifted guitarists of the modern era, arguably one of the OG Gods of shred (but far deeper) and it all gets taken away by a very unfortunate disease. Very sad.

Holly crap! There are going to be a lot of guitarist out there now trying to play this and yelling “FUUUUUUUCK! over and over again. This piece was insane. Great work as always, you make it look so simple with your clean sweeps. 16 note triplets, no problem haha.

Thanks for posting this! My bass playing friend had the tab for this about 30 years ago (guitar for the practising musician). We had the first cacophony record but not Jason Beckers so I learnt a load of it from the tab without hearing the song because I thought it would teach me sweep picking (which it did). Got a bit of a surprise when I eventually got Perpetual Burn and heard Air was played completely clean. I was playing it almost completely wrong with distortion but it really affected me as a player - I still reflexably play this or Dee any time I pick up a classical guitar. I have often thought I’d love to get that tab back and learn the song properly. Now I have no excuse. Becker was a great player and hero for dealing with such a cruel illness.

Ah, Jason Becker who also went on to play with David Lee Roth on his "A Little Ain't Enough" album, replacing Steve Vai. David Lee Roth who toured with Poison on his "Skyscraper" tour where Steve Vai gave CC DeVille a yellow JEM, which I think might be in Poison's "Your Mama Don't Dance" video, though very briefly. Everything on this channel always comes back to CC DeVille! Looking forward to that eventual Poison cover.
CC is jealous of those position inlays as well.

BUT this stuff is commendable. I’ve never heard Becker’s stuff so it’s nice to have my first exposure to him with a song that is very hard to learn!

Dig into the Jason Becker stuff. Some serious beautiful music, in my opinion. Some people write it off as showing off and technical nonsense but I don’t understand where they are coming from. To me it’s like saying a classical violin player is soulless just because he/she is super proficient with the instrument.

More interesting to see Jewel tabs. It is slower and more melodic. Although it seems simpler at first glance, it is much more complex because it requires a high degree of precision and mastery of intonation. It has a tremendous amount of sonic decoration and the use of the floyd rose.
