Even when they fail, they just laugh it off, when most “stars” would exit the stage in childish temper tantrums. I was 10 when I first heard Maiden. I’m 51, now. They still have my admiration and respect for being real. Up the irons!!!
Except Judas Priest. Every album iron maiden have done after brave new world hasn’t been that good. Senjutsu and book of souls were trash, self indulgent, and too long with 50 chorus repeats and every song over 8 mins long. Too much prog, not enough metal. They need to fire Janick gers

They probably have a world record for most live shows, I’d guess over 95 percent of them they are on point. Bruce is bound to fall here and there lol. I’ve seen them 4 times and there were no visible mistakes. Janick also bound to lose that guitar. I figured he would drop it when throwing it 50 feet in the air but he always catches it so it’s funny that he lost it probably before he got to try that.
I remember seeing them live in Denver Pepsi Center for thr Book Of Souls tour. Janick was doing his guitar flings and just launched it into the crowd and starts dying laughing... people caught it and crowd surfed it back?, but I remember it being the funniest thing ever
I think it was the occasion, where after doning the "Trooper Tunic" he left his Radio Mic, on a Flight case (behind the set). Stage Manager Benbow, had to chase after him with it. The whole situation, made Bruce, a laughing heap.

This is A class musicians/preformers starting to feel their age. While Lars Ulrich has turned Metallica's live shows into over-produced (and overpriced) shit-shows, Maiden carries on with just the occasional minor hiccup (someone falling over or having a brain fart, singer getting out of breath or minor technical difficulties happens to every live act almost every time the go on stage, after all)
Oh please!! They're both great bands but Metallica is the far better live band. Maiden is a completely rehearsed copy of themselves. Every single show is exactly the same. The backdrops change, that's about it. They play back to back shows in the same city and play the exact same set list. I've seen every maiden show for the last 20 years. They're all an exact copy of the last. You know exactly what's going to happen, when it's going to happen. Eddie's costume changes, the backdrops change and the giant inflatable Eddie changes. Besides that it's all the same. Metallica isn't predictable like that. Metallica will break out 40 different songs on a tour and if they play a city two nights in a row you'll get a different show because they know most people came to see them twice. They also adapt to their crowds and will throw in songs by a band from the city they're playing in. (granted some of those covers have been terrible) There's a reason metallica is the biggest metal band of all time and they sell out stadiums in minutes in North American while maiden takes until the day of the show to fill an amphitheatre. Love them both and if people like maiden music over metallica that's great but the better show is and always has been metallica.

All this asside, Metallica has strayed way to far from what they original were with their huge screens, glittery instruments and glamorous "rich rockstar" facade with new guitars for every single song etc, rather than the bare bones aggressive performances of old. Maiden on the other hand has stuck to their wall of Marshall stacks, painted backdrops and Giant Eddie-formula for the soul reason that it's what the fans want to see! That said, I absolutely agree that Maiden should make an effort to change up their setlist more, because Metallica is absolutely nailing that part

Like last tour Kirk was wearing some sort of sparkly, goofy thriller jacket with his purple guitar, I hated it and James started wearing these really goofy looking vests over the last decade or so. 😂 And to James credit the guy has to play super fast riffs while singing. And in my opinion no one's better at that especially at 60. As a bunch of 60 year olds they're going to continue to decline. Nobody gets better as they age unfortunately. Bruce sounds off some nights too although again everyone knows he's the far better singer, even me but Maiden work half as hard. Bruce can just sing and the guitarists have split two guitar parts into three. Janick spends majority of the concert show boating. As for lars, well no one has ever confused him for the best drummer in the world but without lars there's no Metallica period. He's released some brilliant work and some terrible work. Again both these bands along with Megadeth are my top 3. They all have something I love but as far as live goes imho metallica stand alone. I'm surprised every show, I don't know what they're going to play. (except of course the handful of permanent tunes) I don't know what props they're going to use, their setup is different every tour, I don't know when the fireworks are going to go off. I can sit through a maiden show and tell you exactly when Eddie's coming, exactly when the giant blow up is coming, exactly what song they're going to play because they put up the backdrop, exactly when the fireworks are going to go off. (always during whatever long song they choose after the interlude) last tour it was sign of the cross. Previous it was seventh Son or rhyme. Always exactly the same spot. Also one of the biggest reasons metallica live is better is their stage setup, centre stage gives everyone in the crowd a good seat. That's unbeatable if you ask me. There's no nose bleeds unless they play a stadium like two tours ago. One other thing I disagree that maiden give the fans what they want. The matter of life and death tour they literally played that entire album live along with like 3 others and left everyone disappointed. Even metallica knows we don't want that, they give us a few off the new album, a few constants and a few surprises. Absolute professionals to have so many songs in their arsenal.

Universal amphitheater los Angeles bruce fell hard.. knocked his air out of him.. he was down 5 minutes..got up holding his ribs.. it was ultimate fail.. but he pulled through and finished show it was like watching a boxer.. he was hurt but finished.. I remember guitarist looked at each other and made a face like oh he's bad.. finish playing this song and if he's not up.. well stop.. he got up right before end of song..

Bob Rock was asked to mix their next album because they liked how his previous albums sound and they wanted the big, open sound but didn't know how to achieve it. But his condition was that he would be a producer, not a mixer and he brought Randy Staub to mix the album. Bob's involvement in Metallica was because of his studio knowledge and experience to work with big bands. Metallica were multimillionaires before Bob Rock and the whole 90's era and they certainly didn't need a breakthrough radio hit to make it.
