Great video production too...beautiful camerawork, positions, angles and composition (thanks to the cameraman to getting to the 1:10 filming position...gorgeous views and sounds...a well earned trophy guys!...I'll have to take a cold shower now...maybe I'll just watch it again...a few times, first!
Sick video guys. Well done, and good luck for this week.!
Hi Ken
Steering is standard. Box was carefully re-built. 3 deg neg camber and 3 deg castor helps stability. Still a little vague around the straight ahead but not so noticeable once it is up to speed.
best looking and sounding car in the event!! good to see them having a red hot go and getting the rewards.
My first car, built like a tank. Had it from 1966 until 1981 when we left for Australia. I still hanker after that car
Loved this!
Great video!
Well they weren't hanging about were they ? That amazon just loved being at full throttle.
What a music! Fantastic oldtimer ;)
I had a 67 when I was in high school (75-76) and put a Thrush straight pipe muffler on it. It never sounded this good, but man it could move!
Pure sound is right!
So car looks and sounds great, has rally history , and they're not too expensive to purchase...Yes, a Volvo 122S sounds like a good first classic car purchase.
Any special tricks done to the steering gear and or linkages to make an Amazon handle like this? M 122 steering is so vague around center....
Beautifully done car, a true inspiration.
Go Andy!!!!

Andy White
What kind of engine and trans in the Amazon???
such a good fucking sound almost better than any american v8 easily
whats the exhaust situation here. I want to put it on my car. Straight pipe?
Hey Daniel, some detail on the car's build can be found at Volvo Adventures ( www.volvoadventures.com/andrewwhite2.html) Nothing too exotic. There's also some footage from last year's event here (Targa Tasmania 2013: Volvo 122S - Pure sound ) with slightly better sound: this year we had a high rev' ignition problem we're still trying to sort (valve springs, igtion, etc). This limited us to about 6,300 rpm. For a view from the other side of the 'screen search WorksVolvo, cheers, AY
Is that the original B18 or perhaps a B23?
Its a B18 bored out to 1954cc (class Limit) with 45 webers, head work, etc, 195hp
