  • The Mighty Saxon announce New Album 𝕮𝖆𝖗𝖕𝖊 𝕯𝖎𝖊𝖒 and unleash the video and single for the titanic title track 𝕮𝖆𝖗𝖕𝖊 𝕯𝖎𝖊𝖒 (𝕾𝖊𝖎𝖟𝖊 𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕯𝖆𝖞) 🦅⚔️ Pre-order:smarturl.it/SA...
“In Latin it means ‘seize the day’ and I think it’s a great thing to say; it’s what the Romans used to say to each other on a regular basis, apparently, never having met one, I wouldn’t know! But we’re gonna do the Seize the Day world tour, the album’s Carpe Diem, this song’s called “Carpe Diem (Seize the Day)” and it’s such a powerful thing to say.” Bx
Carpe Diem the album is available to pre-order now, out February 4th 2022: smarturl.it/SA...
    #Saxon #CarpeDiem #SeizeTheDay
Life hath no fury like a legend in full roar… and on February 4th, 2022, Saxon will show just that to the world when they release their 23rd studio album, Carpe Diem, through Silver Lining Music, serving notice to anyone who ever felt otherwise that they remain both vanguards and masters of British Metal. Comprised of 10 titanic tracks bristling with steel-clad riffery and proud intent, the Barnsely (UK) born band draw on a variety of ingredients from their career to forge what is their most dynamic release in many a year.
"It all starts with the riff,” says front man and co-founder Biff Byford, "if the riff speaks to me, then we’re on our way. It’s a very intense album, and that’s all down to the fact that the essence of a great metal song is the riff that starts it, and this album has loads of them."
Unleashing today the title track’s roll-back attack, this is Saxon at their purest and most definitive; aggressively parading the pure metal flag and imploring fans old and new to gather and celebrate the very best of both Saxon and the genre itself.
Carpe Diem will be available in a variety of formats and pre-orders can be placed here: smarturl.it/SA...
Produced by Andy Sneap (Judas Priest, Exodus, Accept and Priest guitarist) at Backstage Recording Studios in Derbyshire with Byford and Sneap mixing and mastering, Carpe Diem strikes the ear as one of the most essential British metal statements of the last few years and not lacking in pace or bite, an album which will ignite the joy in stalwart supporters and attract a whole new legion to the Saxon fold.
“We want every album we make to go platinum,” says Biff defiantly. "We never make an album that we don’t expect to be fantastic because there are no laurels around here, and as a band, we’re always trying to do something a little bit new, a little bit daring. I love fast metal like “Princess of the Night” and “20,000 Feet”, and I try and bring that style of Saxon into the music now, but in a more modern style. We don’t sound like an old band on records because we’re not sitting back on our past success, we’re always trying to make a great album.”
The genesis of Carpe Diem’s fierce intensity lies in two extremely significant life events - “It’s been a difficult two years,” offers Biff with considerable understatement, “because I had the heart attack back in September 2019, so things went a bit pear-shaped for the band. And then Covid hit two or three months later, but luckily, we started writing and recording this album before Covid. We did the drums in Germany and we did the guitars in various places. I was doing a lot of writing while I was in the hospital bed, and we spent quite a long time writing and arranging the ideas that we all had. I do think it’s a very intense album, and maybe some of that intensity comes from the frustration of not being able to do anything in the Covid period.”

His voice is both powerful and crystal clear. I've been listening to it everyday since I picked it up and my foot is worn out from tapping it. I thought it was a very solid and strong album with a much heavier sound than previous efforts but I must state that it is not much like their 80's and 90's output that was more power and speed metal orientated. That's me giving you a heads up on it. Blazon Stone have encompassed those stylistic elements much more than Running Wild have that they sound more like Running Wild than well...Running Wild. I would give the new Running Wild album a listen but from my listening, it is very much for hardcore fans only (by that I mean that they would still appreciate it)

I found Saxon in 2007. The name was familiar before that, but just never had heard them or anything. Then in the spring of 2007 I went to a local record store, the guy who ran it knew what kind of music I was into and put Inner Sanctum on stereos, while I was scrolling through some albums. Shortly after I had to ask what he was playing, and found out it was Saxon. Mind was blown and been a fan ever since. Seen them live a couple of times, one of the best gigs I've ever been was that 2009 Wacken gig, when they did the internet poll where you could vote what songs they'd play.
Saxon just makes me move unlike any other band. Love the sound and they just keep getting better over the years it seems. Hopefully they come to Finland on this upcoming tour!

Janne: Isn't it cool when you discover a band, later on in their career with such a great catalogue of music to choose from? Your story has many of the same aspects as mine, with the exception that I was a casual fan of them in the 80's. I lost track of them in the late 80's, but rediscovered them in the late 90's with Unleash The Beast and Circle Of Light on a compilation CD. That, and their Eagle Has Landed II live album led me on a frantic search for their whole 90's catalogue. I've been a super fan since '98 and seen them every time they've toured since 2011. Maiden was my first real favorite metal band since Number Of The Beast came out when I was 14, then Priest became my favorite a few years later as they kept with 3 to 4 minute songs vs. Maiden's mostly REALLY long songs. However, Saxon is by far my favorite now as they have so many great, consistent releases. Priest's have been kind of mediocre (in my opinion) since Halford came back. Glad to see someone as excited about the band as I am! Greetings from Canada! BTW, check out Halford's first solo album Halford - Resurrection. I had an "eargasm" when I listened to the first 3 songs at the local music store, and then raced home to listen to the rest! It's the "best Priest album Priest never made" LOL!

@@briansauer6695 Hey! Yeah Saxon sure has a lot of material to choose on when you listen to your daily dose :) Sometimes when you find a band, you just have to get their full catalogue! I have many of their albums both on vinyl and cd, and if there's some special editions of an album, have a few of those too :) Like you said, they have consistent releases, so I had no issues pre-purchasing the box set for the new album, even though I doesn't release until February. I know I will get my moneys worth!
But I also listen to a lot of other bands, of course. I'm very familiar with Halfords solo material, they're actually just now re-releasing Resurrection on vinyl and I pre-purchased it earlier this month :) It's one of my favorite albums for sure!

We are in a golden age of Saxon, I swear. From this title track, the new album is shaping up to be the third (THIRD!!!!!) album in a row that bangs (Battering Ram and Thunderbolt before this are unlike anything else they've made, it's amazing that I've only been listening to this band for like a few months and they dont have a SINGLE weak album!)

I gotta believe adding Nibbs and then later Doug infused the rest of the boys with so much energy and ability to keep Saxon going stronger and better than ever as they keep cranking it out. Biff sounds as great as always, Paul just keeps the riffs and leads coming and to see Nigel still just pounding away on those skins is absolutely amazing.
