The NBA should extend the 3 point competition. They should extend the time 15 seconds and put full court and half court spots for extra points. The extra 15 seconds would give players time to run to the different spots. Let the spot from any spot they want at any time. But it’s still only one money in each spot.
I think they should make it a different competition called around the world where they shoot from each spot on the floor including the ones you mentioned

Dangerous teams in the play in tournament makes the play in more exciting and a reason to keep it around. Instead of having bs teams fighting for a spot, seeing the warriors, Lakers, suns makes it way more exciting 👏🏽

Neither team will win it all but they both have the ability to knock someone out in the first round and possibly make a second round match up go longer than it should, effectively wearing down that other team for the WCF.

Lakers was like the 5th seed in december and 6 games over 500 and won the inseason tournament and hit a bad slump in january that buried them and now have a top 5 record since feb 1 and won 7/8

Why would the lakers take this approach? The allure of the Lakers is the history and the market. They sign and trade for stars and build that way… small market teams build with solid young cores and they loose their star player to big market teams like the Lakers.

They are only a few games out of the 5th seed and they’d probably be in the 5th seed or higher if they hired a seasoned coach. Which further highlights my point of them building with a young core. They haven’t proven themselves as being able to be a successful in building a team from coach to players, they have made numerous mistakes at the top of draft, the biggest was drafting Ball over Tatum and they hired a rookie head coach when they could’ve hired someone else. If the lakers decide to hit the reset button this offseason they will get nothing for Lebron who would be a free agent, little for D-Lo who could opt out of his contract, and they will get pennies on the dollar for AD. Starting over and building young means they will be behind established teams for years; Denver, OKC, Memphis, Timberwolves, NO, DAL, and SAC. Teams that will fall off over the next few years; clippers, warriors, and suns. Upcoming teams; Houston and Spurs. Teams with more draft assets; Jazz.
