I would love to see an album reaction, or frankly any of their mv's g idle has fire music whatever direction you go in. If youre doing albums id say start at the begining so you can see their evolution. You cant go wrong with any of them, but i think the most popular in the community is i burn and i never die.

I’ve said my piece on hip-hop oriented (g)i-dle content, I’ll lend my opinion on the Lion/Oh My God set of songs. Definitely similar (same composer/producer & era ;-) but I think Lion has to win. It came first and was written for the Queendom reality/competition show. It was a huge breakthrough/level up for the group, even though they finished the show in 3rd place. (Mamamoo won & there are a few standout performances from them available on CZcams that should go on another list). Anyway, Lion is a milestone song for them.

@@ChainReactionsChannel Yesterday I caught a repost of a streamer from Twitch binging (G)i-dle from the beginning. (1h20m!! & it had 16k views on CZcams, no idea how many watched it live.) Craziness, but it reminded me of a couple of things:
a) This group really has freedom to experiment with musical genres in a way that not many other kpop groups do.
b) Never Stop Me has an MV (perf. video actually) which I didn't know--it came up on album listens and repeatedly features in my playlists. Definitely worth a watch/listen in the same week as Tomboy which was the single from the same album (& the first release as a 5 member group). Some really nice neo-punk that fits the group well.

d) K/DA should be talked about more. It's tough to react to as the vids get it blocked (either because of League of Legends or because of the american artists involved). This concept created a virtual k-pop girl group with four LoL characters voiced by Soeyon & Miyeon from (G)i-dle with Madison Beer & Jaira Burns from the USA(?), though other people have been involved over time. Those four actually appeared live on stage with augmented reality versions of the virtual characters at an LoL event in 2018. The three singles that stand out are:

I may have mentioned it in passing waaaaayyyyy in the past, but they recorded two versions of a performance of I Do atop a skyscraper in NYC with the lights of the city behind them. one version is roughly fixed on them performing on stage and the other is a filmed by a drone that captures them + the city. The song is beautiful, the city is beautiful and they are stunning. Totally worth watching even if it's not right for your reaction schedule:

This is Latata performed in Times Square and Washington Square Park with a flash mob of fans (+ some of their friends, I expect). This was Aug 2018, about two weeks before Ms. Soyeon turned 20. This debut single was released in May but she may have had some fans from her Produce 48 and Unpretty Rapper days. Still, that's a pretty nice turnout, especially in Washington Square Park. It is worth noting, from what I have heard, that their debut as a group was going to be delayed for lack of a song and Soyeon took the responsibility on herself to sit down and crank this one out. Still one of my favourites by them.

Roughly one year later we are back in NYC for another song written by Soyeon: Uh-oh. This one was filmed in multiple NYC locations, unfortunately with no extras dancing but some great city flavour. Apparently this song was written with a message to her critics not to doubt her. (I wonder if they have gotten the message yet).
I remember these days with (G)i-dle and feeling proud they could make a splash in NYC and still feeling like they were upstarts and a bit "fringe" in the industry because they weren't from one of the big three houses etc. It's amazing how far they've come in five years.
From what limitations I have on the lyrics, I believe they're basically saying they have all the capabilities to be the perfect "wife". They're humble bragging about the superficial shizz they can do that would historically be the feminine role and they can do it better than anyone else. They keep hyping themselves up until...they basically say "yeah, you want me for your wife but that's not necessarily the role I want." LOL
So your analysis of the choreo kind of fits the message: sassy, at times cutesy, at other times fierce and dope.

This interpretation fits really well, I think. They also only start to sing/ lip sync in the last part of the MV when the chorus is changed to "I don't wanna [be a] Wife"

Don't feel bad about the pronunciation of Yuqi's name. Technically her own members don't say it right. Apparently it's somewhat difficult to pronounce. I think in Chinese it's sounds more like Yu-chi or something like that. The members tend to give a variation of Uugi and Woogi. Shuhua (who's also a chinese speaker) probably is the only one who can say it correctly without a problem, but she doesn't.
I'm always worried I'm messing up names and sounding ignorant. 😅 I'll keep working on it but I appreciate you!
