I think Peter's stalling tactics lasted longer than the second bonus round.

That's also why Peter was naturally great in his hosting/presenting abilities - very candid, organized and great spontaneity. He showed this in other game episodes as well, the ability to fill-up time (sometimes without viewers noticing) due to low spins being earned. Simply a true professional.

This must have been before the producers made an easier set of questions that were used if there were few spins on the board.

If three contestants had 1 spin a piece in 1986, the show would've still been sped up with all those $500 and $750+spin

This episode seemed okay, but it probably had some viewers wondering what was happening on "$ale of the Century", the show in the same time slot over on NBC at the time.

This is why in later episodes, Peter would start using the "easy" stack of questions if contestants were struggling in a question round (either that, or simply reshoot the segment with the easy stack).
Also, maybe it's just me, but I think Kathy is one of the...how should I put this? least intelligent contestant in the history of the show (and it has nothing to do with race, JTLYK).

Why did Margaret keep calling for a trip to China on her appearances? AFAIK, this show never offered one (although one was offered on "Whammy!"). Hong Kong is the closest trip to that, but it was controlled by the United Kingdom at the time.

I suspect it's related to these not being the brightest three contestants in the show's history.

Whammy big bank count from 3/1/84
    Rerun on GSN:5/8/2005
    1st whammy:$1,500
    2nd whammy:$2,000
    Total:$3,500

Too be fair, the show was still in it's first year. Some press your luck contestants didn't watch many episodes prior to them appearing and only a die hard press your luck fan at the time knew every single prize on the game board.

This whole episode was pathetic. And Peter's blathering on didn't help matters, esp. at the start of the 2nd big board round when he kept going on and on about the prizes up there.

Maybe you're thinking of episode 427 aired o. 5/15/1985. A contestant named Damon earned no spins in round one but wound up winning the game that day.

Correction... a close examination of the PYL episode guide revealed episode 539, aired 10/17/1985, had a contestant named Doris whom did not win any spins for round 2. She did acquire some by way of them being passed to her but she did not win any herself.
