@@ayokay123 Dick Hyman certainly has flawless technique but Luca's performance seems way more... lively? Passionate? I can't really put it into words, but I find Luca's version way more rewatchable.
@@savlecz1187 It seems more "lively" because he arranged to stride more and larger octaves with the left hand, which is cool. What he ISN'T doing is the offbeat rhythm with the right hand near the end of Hyman's version. Extremely difficult to do if you play piano.
One of the alltime best "stride" pianists is Gunnar Morten Larsen from Norway. He's incredible. This guy here did a fabulous job on the "Fingerbreaker" song and to be only 22!!
There are a few players way above Rossano and Gunnar IMO. You have Louis Mazetier, Dick Wellstood. Luca Filastro I'm willing to put close, I've heard what he did of Sheik of araby. Rossano is more of a Jazz player, much like Paolo Alderighi. Stephanie Trick herself is of course a splendid stride player.
He might want to slow it down a bit to improve his accuracy. He seems to be sacrificing quite a bit of accuracy for the sake of speed. While his playing is certainly impressive, his performance of this piece was pretty sloppy.
For the record, I do NOT play better than him, I just enjoy analyzing performers, especially if I'm practicing the same excerpt. Anyway, in the beginning, going from Bb7 to F7, he missed Eb7, he doesnt play the same bass notes and I'm not saying hes playing it wrong, he just plays his own version.
@@Poptifex Why does Allen Moon have to be able to do it better in order to say it's not that impressive? To state an opinion about the quality of an egg, do you have to be able to lay a better one? And just for the record: I'm a concert pianist myself, and I don't dream I could do this piece as well as Mr. Filastro does it. He's great! - But check out Dick Hyman's performance here on CZcams. Just sayin'...
That guy grooving in the corner, legendary.
Leon Wynne His name is Bob L. Head
Man with a real jazzman's soul
One guying freakin outperforming physics on the piano and the comment section is prasing the grooving dude in the corner.... I love it

Effing insane. God I wish I could play this piece. Guy in the corner appreciates it for what it's worth!

Fantastic! Jelly Roll Morton should so proud of you, stay where him stay.
I love his control over and style in the dynamics. Fantastic! :)
Wow...!!!
Top performance in this song... Jelly would be proud!
I just saw this guy at the Stride Summit in Boswil CH.
Introduced by Rossano Sportiello, he's only 22 - and
he's phenomenal.
With this piece Jelly Roll Morton showed he was familiar with Harlem stride piano. A true classic!😎
What a great diversion from one of the greatest pianist ever live in the town.
This piece is insane
Jelly would be proud of you.
I am.
I don't understand that I haven't heard of you before. This piece I have heard by Dick Hyman. You Are a genius!
Still my favorite performance of this piece.
It's quite good, but better than Dick Hyman's?? I don't think so.

@@ayokay123 Yeah, I agree. I came around on Hyman's version recently. But this one's still great. I keep coming back to both of them now
Sure, until you listen to Dick Hyman's: an other world...
Very expressive and professional! Thank you very much!
Bravissimo!!! Veramente notevole!!! Non ci sono altre parole per giudicare.

Wow! Bellissimo, in assoluto una delle interpretazioni migliori che io abbia mai sentito! :-)
貴方は正しかった。彼の右に出る者はいまのところいません
The guy grooving on the right...
Finger breaker for some; neck breaker for others. 😂
Favoloso, complimenti!
Impresionante!
Igor Levit says he is the greatest, so I want to watch him playing this as relaxed as you. After that you may have a drink together.
The guy on the right is funny

Fantastico
GOOOOOOOD
how is that possible wow...........
Wow
Perfection.
Unbelievable
Grande......
This version is actually more difficult than the original, the LH leaps are further.
Yeah, but go and listen to Dick Hyman's version. He uses an off tempo right hand in several parts that is brain defying.
Holy molly!!!!!
Il top, è un n1
good music
Congratulazioni. Mi piace quanto la versione di Dick Himan.
From 2:08, he took a lot of liberties with that piece.
I don't find that in the original score
Does anybody else recognize the similarity of this piece to ZUN's U. N. Owen Was Her computer game music? Seems like time travel.
Cristo santo. Anche Morton era un bel pazzo, però, eh?
めっちゃ良い😭
これがジャズだ
Stratosferico....
voce esta muy loco manoooo!!!
I taught him how to play this just a few years ago😂 fast learner............ true.
I love the fact that he has a Shigeru kawai :)
If Paganini wrote a song for piano
legend 1900 piano duel XD
Wow he can play
Posso avere lo sparito per favore?
Liszt must have turned in his grave
hearing this.
It's 1938 again!
OMG HOW

I’m impressed too 😂😂😂😂fast asf
Kinda reminds me a little of the Rachmaninoff- Moments Musicaux 4

Very sloppy play with lots and lots of mistakes...
TBH not that impressive
Allen Moon post a video of you playing it and lets compare
