Simionato is the greatest Amneris I’ve ever heard, Nilsson is Nilsson, one of the greatest dramatic sopranos ever, this is just a marvelous 10 minutes of music

La Nilsson è tutto un discorso a parte!! Potenza e voce meravigliosa dotata di una duttilità da togliere il respiro!! Doni di un tempo... doni lontani!! Es interesante como la Nilsson manejaba su voz. Era diferente cuando hacía ópera italiana a cuando hacía ópera alemana. En Wagner ella se oye inmensa u hasta estridente. En Verdi y Puccini dulcifica su voz y no usa todo el caudal que tiene. Bellas voces ambas cantantes son admirables e irrepetibles.

Simionato might not have been the most powerful mezzo but she possessed the perfect voice for Verdi. The best description for Nilsson here is to quote a famous critic from that era - “A great singer singing Verdi but not a great Verdi singer”.

Si comparamos esta parte, por ejemplo, con Azucena, nos podemos dar cuenta del asombroso conocimiento que tenía de la esencia verdiana. Aunque no era solo eso, claro, no podemos olvidar su Bolena, Hugonotes, Santuzza, Carmen...

Ασφαλώς κι έχει κόστος, αλλά η προσπάθεια αξίζει. Αυτό που δεν μπορεί να κατορθώσει η Σουηδή Νίλσον είναι να δώσει το χρώμα και το συναίσθημα τής Ελληνίδας Μαρίας. Άλλο παγόβουνο κι άλλο μεσογειακός ήλιος... Ακόμη ηχεί η φωνή τού φον Κάραγιαν "Περισσότερο συναίσθημα, κ. Νίλσον, περισσότερο συναίσθημα!" (Mehr Gefühl, Frau Nilsson, mehr Gefühl!).

Outstanding from both! I most say that Oralia is a better Amneris, for some reason Oralia’s voice is way bigger in the theater when we was in the zone doing the damn thang!! Simionato had more lyric qualities while Oralia was a real dramatic volcano. Nilsson is great her, so much weight and vibrancy!
Scala 1960s? Simionato, Rita Gorr and Oralia Dominguez are my Amneris holy trinity. Nilsson , although not a great Verdian singer (think Milanov, Callas, Leontyne, Tebaldi with some reservations ) does an excellent job here.

Es interesante como la Nilsson manejaba su voz. Era diferente cuando hacía ópera italiana a cuando hacía ópera alemana. En Wagner ella se oye inmensa u hasta estridente.
