Very informative video really enjoy the portability of the aeropress and experimenting with brew options
Where can I get those test tubes to hold my coffee?! Haha awesome.
I never thought of switching the grinds to medium course when doing the inverted way, which is how i always make my Aeropress.
how many clicks in your Porlex? thanks from Spain!
Recommend setting for the encore?
@onyxcoffeelab where can I get that white aeropress wrap thing on the right???
On the inverted method, Scott Rao would suggest no bloom, all water in at the same time. Disagree?
Would you change the grind a bit when using a metal filter? Perhaps making it a bit finer? I’m using the same grinder (porlex mini).
Not necessarily. The same grind will give you a little more body with a metal filter. But, if you feel like you are plunging too quickly, then I would try a bit finer setting.
i would love to see some double blind tasting. methinks the "critical hacks" are complete tosh.
45 sec bloom and 15 second stir versus 26 second bloom and, brace yourselves: no stir!
Do you have a recommended starting point for grind size on an Encore?
We would start at 11. But, don't be afraid of a little more coarse or fine, this is a pretty straightforward brew.
Did he ever specify water temperature?
I was wondering the same thing
Does it matter to brew with more water? Why not just brew in 60ml and after add water
Yeah, saturation point is a real thing and the less water you have the less "coffee" you have
I’m confused what the point was to the inverted method.
The inverted method helps keep your extraction and concentration steady by keeping in all the water! Yes, it adds a flip, but we enjoy the results.
How many clicks on porlex for both?
We would recommend starting with 5-6 clicks!
i use mostly light roasted coffee, what would be the ideal brewing temperature for most of your video tutorials
aeropress,chemex,v60 and kalita. ive done about 208 but i'm not sure if thats hot or too hot
What is the water temperature?
We use 205F water! We recommend using water between 195F -208F.
I wanna know what grinder he's using
Looks like a porlex mini
Yep, it is a Porlex Mini handgrinder.
