  • Body punching highlights of the legendary 2 weight world champion and greatest fighter in history!

    Sugar Ray Robinson - Was an American professional boxer who competed from 1940 to 1965. From 1943 to 1951 Robinson went on a 91-fight unbeaten streak, the sixth-longest in professional boxing history. He held the world welterweight title from 1946 to 1951, and won the world middleweight title in the latter year. He retired in 1952, only to come back two-and-a-half years later and regain the middleweight title in 1955. Robinson is often regarded as the greatest boxer of all time, pound-for-pound.

    The greatest of all time! The absolute last thing that I've yet to cover until now of the legendary SRR is his excellent body punching. His left hook to the body was lethal and his combination punching was second to none, he had a beautiful straight right to the body also and stopped many of his opponents with that shot. At his absolute peak Robinson had an astonishing record of 129-1-2 and after this went on to beat the best Middleweights of his era, truly the GOAT. Also just to let you all know I'll be on holiday for 2 weeks starting from tomorrow so there wont be any main uploads on the channel for a little while but I've got some shorts and posts scheduled so stay tuned and more to come soon!

    • @clarkkent8286
      @clarkkent8286 Před 11 měsíci

      Idk, he wasn't too good as an infighter. Most of his punches were quick scoring punches as opposed to planting his feet and landing harder shots (and he would back off as soon as an opponent started firing back)

    • @jpa5038
      @jpa5038 Před 11 měsíci +18

      @@clarkkent8286 Right he wasn't an infighter but he was capable in that situation when his opponent insisted on it. By "back off as soon as an opponent started firing back", I think you mean, stepped outside of his opponent's range as they threw at him, missing him entirely and opening up the opportunity for Ray to counter.

      @@clarkkent8286 No, they were hard.
      A lot of guys would back up or shell up. And many were put on the floor by his barrage of body shots. One opponent was literally carried back to his corner after being saved by the bell.

    • @TainoMantis
      @TainoMantis Před 11 měsíci +5

      @@clarkkent8286 While Robinson wasn't a pressuring in-fighter - he knew how to in-fight. Robinson's punches weren't soft. He had more power than Sugar Ray Leonard and his left hooks and left uppercuts were more powerful than Tommy Hearn's. His combinations were meant to attack the solar plexus (down the middle) to expose the ribs and liver to the sides.
      Planting both feet to emphasize power punching combinations is something brawlers and sluggers do.
      Robinson was a boxer-puncher who could in-fight, box, or brawl - depending on the situation.
      He was adept at planting his rear foot only to the point of allowing him to slide unto the balls of his feet (for defensive pendulum bounces, steps, and pivots). Remember, the object of boxing is hit, don't get hit, and hit again.

      ottima osservazione, ci stavo pensando anche io. Forse non e' possibile copiare tutto quello che faceva Robinson, Ali non riusciva a copiare tutto. Leonard ne ha eguagliato la velocita', ma Leonard non aveva la stessa potenza di Robinson. Sembra davvero Leonard con i missili di Hearns, e con la resistenza di Hagler, tutto in un unico uomo. In ogni caso nessuno fra Ali nei massimi, ne Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, hanno mai steso gli avversari colpendoli al corpo come faceva Robinson.

    To all you floyd mayweather fans, your witnessing the greatest boxer who ever put on a pair of gloves. Floyd might be the greatest defensive fighter of all time, but Sugar Ray Robinson is the greatest offensive fighter of all time + more. You can't win on defense alone. The greatest of all time, Sugar Ray Robinson 😎

      Archie and Ray were friends. Archie thought a bout between them would sell quite well. Ray's response to fighting Archie was "with a baseball bat". Archie Moore has the most KOs in the pro ranks ( a record that will stand forever). Instead Ray boxed Joey Maxim who was a weak puncher but an all time great.@@hanzagod

      @@vincentfisher1603 I mean can you blame him? Robinson was a natural Welterweight not a Light-Heavy lol. Certainly not something I'd hold against him that's for sure.

      @@vincentfisher1603 Who else would you have wanted Robinson to fight at Welterweight and Middleweight? He practically fought everyone, his resume is incredible - greater than Floyd's. Sounds like you're a hater to me to be honest.
