Twenty-three years after Gracie and Joe's romance, actress Elizabeth Berry travels to Georgia for research on her upcoming role, portraying the famous woman who had a relationship with a co-worker. Elizabeth promises to tell their story as truthfully as possible, but her constant presence in the couple's household opens up uncomfortable conversations regarding how their unconventional relationship began.

It's so chilling that Joe is well into his thirties, yet Gracie still treats him as though he's a 13 year old boy. It's clear that he's emotionally stunted, and he only realises that he was being groomed when Elizabeth starts observing them. Charles Melton should definitely get an Oscar nomination for his work here.
It is so sad but so common. A lot of people don’t realize what happened to them was actually abuse and wrong because their abuser manipulate, gaslight, or brainwash them. Especially (but not only) people who were abused or groomed as children. Their natural naivety makes them easier to manipulation and they can’t process completely what is happening. That is why there is an age of consent to begin with. To at least try and ensure that the people can consent fully.
Some abuse victims even mentally convince themselves that it is/was okay as a way of protecting themselves. It’s the brain’s defense mechanism. Breaking that down is HARD.
such an eerie feeling from watching that father and son scene on the roof top, knowing there's less than 15years between them. Reminds me of the actual news stories about Marry Kay Letourneau and following interviews after, especially when their first daughter only then 15 and being 1year older than her father when she was born. There's quite a few of those interviews on CZcams.
@@al28854 Technically, there's an 18-year difference between Joe and his son because the twins were born 4 years after their older sister, but still.

"Mom Traps Not Of Age Boy By Making Him Babies"
The placement of words cracks me up.
I liked that they didn't resolve every conflict by the end, and left some things ambiguous, namely whether Joe left Gracie after realising that she groomed him. Gracie still doesn't seem to believe that she did anything wrong.
agree
that makes the film worse
This is loosely based on "Mary Kay Letourneau" She was the first teacher to make major headlines for sleeping with her student.
"Loosely." What is tightly(?) based on a true story? Unedited home movies?
@@encycl07pedia- Tightly or more true is pretty easy to explain, movie is based off of factual evidence/documented sources that can recount the story with only somethings being changed, notable movies Argo, Erin Brockavich, Schindlers List. Loosely the director for one reason or another will take major liberties with the original characters sometimes relating it greatly to the source material other times not, The world built around it can change or the characters themselves and the outcome can change, notable movies Titanc, Inglorious Bastards, Braveheart, Pearl Harbor
I went to high school with MKL and her cubs daughters.
It was sad knowing back then why the 2 sisters tried so hard to fit in while we were at school.
@@kreevisful Yeah, that's quite unfortunate. I would have definitely moved, far away, I would not have subjected my family or myself to that. Name change would have definitely been a possibility. My memory is a little shaky and I could be wrong but I believe I heard the ex-husband moved to Canada with the kids after the whole debacle
@@PandasRViolent I think the daughters stayed with the mom before she passed, and then maybe they all moved afterward.
I haven't seen those women since I graduated high school back in 2013, but they were a year or two behind me, so I hope they are recovering.
Gracie is utterly shameless. Most abusers are though.
Most abusers of those kinds are mentally unfit. In her case, what her son told the actress about his mom being sexually maltreated by her elder siblings checks out to that calloused and naive persona.
I’m glad he realized that he was groomed by her and she tried to manipulate him into staying with her by saying who was in charge like 😅 you was 25 years older than him
The actor who played Joe did a fantastic job with his mannerisms, really showing his immaturity and stunted growth. Hope this movie opens eyes to how damaging exual abuse is even when perpetrated by a woman on a boy.
'May December' was released in select theaters in the United States on November 17, 2023, before streaming on Netflix on December 1. It received critical acclaim and various accolades, including nominations for four Golden Globe Awards, and was named one of the top 10 films of 2023 by the American Film Institute.
That's not a high bar to climb now-a-days.
😂 😂 What a shame, such a terrible movie should not win anything.
I think it wasn't Georgie who lied, it was Gracie. Gracie lied to Elizabeth that she spoke to her son everyday.
The fact that this is a true story is wild!
Just watched this yesterday, will watch it again in case I missed anything lol
This story is so obviously based loosely on Marry Kay Letourneau, even down to the different ethnicities 😂😂😂😂😂
I caught that too
Yeah I at first was wondering if that was what it was about but the names didn't match. Obvious inspiration however.
Except the actor is Korean whereas the real person is Samoan. But yeah, it's loosely based on that case.
thats what i thought.
But not obvious enough that you felt the need to point it out still?
all that vegan eating makes peopel look terrible. Look at NAtalie looks like she 65 and worn out. Shes only 43 and has looked worn out for years now and is a strict vegan for decades
That’s not veganism I’ve seen her diet that’s an ED 😂
@@tthettai ED? What's this?

Sick disgusting story.
Interesting concept, I'm gonna watch this!
Based on a true story
This was actually a very good movie with great acting.
The movies name is May December, cmon yall this sort of research is so simple
Name of Movie???
What's the name of the background music in this video please?
Lets reboot but the gender roles are reversed lol
theres 100x more movies about the genders being reversed, also its gender only, not gender roles.
The title has nothing to do with the clip!!!
exactly
no he said he only was trying to make his kids happy. so she baby trapped him
Natalie Portman acting on this movie is so underrated!
Why aren't these movies have Title so we can find the movies
WTF is the title 👀👀
Men of culture, we meet again.
This is a sick movie..
Julianne Moore is probably a sociopath
she played one cuz it's her job, most of us aren't so gullible.
Why?
I assume you meant the character played by Julianne Moore. Right?
I hate your titles so much, cool video tho
You hate em cause you always click.
*Beautiful.Intelligent.Talented.Charming.Hot*💃🕷️
ew
wtf is that title
May December
I believe this story came from Sacramento
It's not an affair. It's sexual abuse.
The 12 year old boy was sexually abused by that woman. Stop downplaying that just because it's a boy that is involved instead of a girl.
Calm down it’s literally AI not a person
Lol, you're watching a recap of a movie and complaining that it's not giving an opinion. 👌
@@tthettai Still wrong.
Did you pay any attention to the recap? Where was the part that you think downplayed anything?
The film literally and figuratively calls it an abusive relationship. Even the recap itself shows this.
💕
Haha omg
thats how it ends?
It's so disturbing that they made a movie about this, basically making the woman look like a victim, and treating this as a forbidden love story.
How did they make her a victim?
@@tthettai It's a movie showing her struggle and trying to make you feel empathy for how people treat her.
You missed the point.
I dont think you watched the recap properly
Bro, take a fucking chill pill, but a blunt, open your fucking eyes, and rewatch.
She was 100% demonized. They built to it near the end. The monarch butterfly is an analogy of him finally realizing and coming out of his own cocoon.
The way this movie plays off the husband, and the older woman's delusional mental illness is annoying... but an interesting take on both subjects.
too boring and vague
You know, these videos would be much more palatable if it wasn't for the A.I. narrator. Its horrible. This video showed up in my feed and I figured I would give this Channel a shot. But after 8 minutes of this A.I. narration, I have to tap out. How this Channel has 1.58 Million subscribers is ridiculous. Maybe I am just to old school where I want an actual human narrator.
