    Most people here commenting on Spygate does not even know what happened. The reason Goodell fined the Pats and Belichick was not because they filmed or what they filmed, it was because they filmed from the WRONG LOCATION. They were supposed to film from a space enclosed on three sides with a roof overhead. They didn't do that, and Goodell (a nitpicker for rules, as Saints fans would also agree) decided to take this opportunity and make an example out of the patriots so as to cement his authority as the new NFL commissioner. All other claims (filmed the Rams walkthrough, it helped them greatly, etc) are misinformed and false.

      Then YOU should read what Josh McDaniels said to Jay Glazer about how this was "practiced, coached, and worked on" by Belichick and the Patriots. He should know, since he was a part of it. Wrong Location my ass. Why would I dismiss what HE said, and listen to YOU?

      You misunderstood my point. What I should have also added was that taping signals was NOT illegal in the NFL until 2006, after the Pat's Super Bowl wins. However, my point still stands - the official reason (given by the NFL) for the punishment meted out by the NFL was for the ILLEGAL LOCATION of filming, nothing else. So, even if what Josh McDaniels said was true, it is irrelevant.

      Bournetolive PREACH...spygate was a well known practice for decades, backed up by many of the great coaches and teams of the past. Taping signals not practices and walk thrus. It was not illegal. Spygate = Media sensationalism, makes for a better story. Pats made the mistake of still taking on the practice after if was abolished at the start of the 07 season. Not a big deal unless ur a Pats hater and need excuses for why ur team isnt as successful

    I just absolutely love how these guys are debating "which is worse for the game" when in reality, why aren't people looking at it as a basic humane thing? Like yeah, Spygate is obvious cheating in the sport of football or any sport, but putting a bounty to knock somebody out and intently injure them for more money? That practically makes you a mercenary. That's some fucked up shit. That's a HELL OF A LOT WORSE then just stealing some signals when every other fucking team on the planet does it too.

    So we are posing the question which is worst? Placing your camera in a illegal position while everyone else was doing it, getting snitched on, taking the full blame and getting overly criticized for a common practice. Or Paying your players and telling your players to and I quote "aim for the head" "Kill the head and the body dies with it" "we want him coming sideways, hit his head sideways" "at the bottom of the pile, hit his head" "he becomes human when we tear his acl". Paying your players and encouraging them to maliciously destroy and possibly paralyze players. INSANE. DISGUSTING. PUKE WORTHY.

      Slash Brees Believe it or not, Belichick was technically correct! The rule prohibited taking from unauthorized locations only if the recording was being used for that specific game. The Pats were only using the info for FUTURE games. So Belichick correctly decided that Goodell’s memo suddenly changing it was unauthorized until the owners could get together in a meeting & change the rule by a majority vote! But that’s not sexy enough for media to report.
      It would basically be like arresting someone for a law that had not yet been changed to make the conduct illegal. Belichick & the Pats accepted the settlement for the good of the NFL.
      Deflategate is more complicated but same thing. Refs were OVER inflating balls beyond the maximum pressure allowed & saying that the balls would lose some air by the time they were used. Brady simply had the equipment guy let some air out of footballs that were over inflated & he never asked for the balls to be made illegally low in air pressure. I’m a Steelers fan but logic & equality must prevail for everyone, even the bastards that beat us & cost us our chances for more rings. Lol 😂

    EVERY single team tries to obtain coaches signals like spygate in the NFL. Respected coaches like Ditka and Parcells say its a part of the league and always has been. Its called scouting. The only difference with the Patriots is that they got ratted on by Mangini (who deeply regrets what he did). He just tried to make them stop doing it when the Patriots were playing the Jets. And look where Mangini is now lol. The average Margin of victory for the Patriots in their first 10 games in 2007 was 25.4 (just under 20 points for the whole season). So they were winning every game by 3 or 4 TD's haha. So I dont think a couple stolen hand signals would of helped them that much. BTW they were caught in mid September that year at the start of the season. So once the story broke all the taping stopped and they still dominated like no other team in football history. This was all essentially legal until 2006 in the NFL as well.

      Peoples careers can be ended by any type of hit at any given time... cheating to win by taping walk throughs and in game signal sent in by the coaches to the defense is WORSE... the pats superbowls are tainted and always will be by spygate... after the patriots stopped cheating... they lost to ELI MANNING twice!! the great tom brady couldn't beat eli manning??? c'mon mannnnn

      TB stepped off the field in both SBs late in the 4th quarter with the lead. The D then gave up scoring drives to the Giants. As shown by the latest SB drubbing - bad D = no championship. D still wins championships.

    • @JesseMessage
      @JesseMessage Před 10 lety

      Theres been plenty of superbowls won by teams with mediocre D and an elite offense.. ie. 49ers(80's)cowboys(90's), rams(1999), packers(2010). even the patriots won superbowls with half decent defens, nothing special. The patriots superbowl wins are tainted and always will be, though.

    • @Bournetolive
      @Bournetolive Před 10 lety +1

      AgentOrange
      I know off the top of my head the 49ers and Rams teams had underrated Ds. Most fans of those teams who know their stuff will tell you that. In contrast, the Pats D during their SBs vs. the Giants were not as good. If you are going to say that the Pats SBs are tainted, then the SBs won by all teams pre-2006 (going back to SB I) were all tainted because taping was not illegal pre-2006 and everybody did it, as Bill Cowher and other prominent coaches readily admitted when Spygate broke. Heck, the Broncos SBs can be said to be tainted since they cheated the salary cap to keep Elway and Davis together.

    • @JesseMessage
      @JesseMessage Před 10 lety

      The pats are the ones who got caught... they're the only team anyone will ever talk about taping. Is there proof that other teams taped? NO because such tapes were destroyed because it was wrong. Perception is reality. The pats will always be linked to spygate. They cheated AND got caught.. the taint will remain UNLESS the pats win again with bill and tom...

    How is this even a discussion? Yeah Spygate was cheating, but it was an exaggerated version of what everyone does, they just got snitched on, though admittedly, New England did it to a far greater degree than anyone else. But thats entirely different than literally paying money to injure players. Being rewarded for getting an extra sack or interception is one thing. But literally telling your players to "hit the head sideways" and giving them extra money for tearing opponents ACL, and possibly ruining their careers/lives. Everyone knows playing this physical a sport is risky and injury is always a possibility, but thats entirely different than a system where players are actually trying to do it.
    Also lets be honest, they got Spygate on a technicality.

      I'm a pats fan and I enjoyed every minute of the SB. The patriots made it to the AFC championship game with a bunch of rookies and injured team missing more than 2 key players at every position. What the patriots did this year was nothing short of amazing. You act like the patriots were healthy. Speaking of refs the last time I checked the refs caused the patriots a Superbowl against the giants when they called that BS safety call on brady on his first throw of the superbowl. That's was the determining factor of the game. Brady has the playoff wins in league history. The funny thing is that the Tom Brady was better after he won the third superbowl than he was before. They are only losing because they don't have a defense which is why they won the three to begin with. No on the subject of the dead horse that is spygate lets see what other coaches have to say about it. www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24412125/cowher-says-spygate-isnt-why-steelers-lost-to-pats-brown-agrees.
